INTRODUCTION

BlackBerry is a telecommunication and wireless device company.

Best known for the production of BlackBerry smartphones and devices.

The company was founded by Mike Lazaridis in the year 1984.

Main headquarters is based on Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Software and hardware used by various governmental agencies and marketing industries.

FINANCIAL REPORT

Based on the chart, it can be seen there is a sharp increase of BlackBerry Ltd’s revenue from the year 2010 to 2011, rising from 15 billion to 20 billion. (2011 Annual Report, 2011)However, after reaching the 20 billion peak revenue in 2011, there has been a steady decrease over the years leading up to 2014. From 20 billion, the graph dropped down to 18.4 billion, then 11 billion and ultimately in 2014, a shocking 6.8 billion dollar revenue. (Financial Statements for BlackBerry Ltd, 2015)

The net income too suffered the same fate, topping the charts at 3.4 billion dollars, it made its way down drastically to the loss of 5.8 billion. In addition, the company’s operating income also faced a very similar drop, starting from a 4.6 billion worth in 2011 and ends with a 7 billion loss in 2014. CONCLUSION In conclusion, BlackBerry Ltd has had its up and downs in the market throughout the years.

However, the recent releases of the new products have shown significant demands and popularity, which shows a positive turnaround for the company.

It will be a long and difficult process to turnaround, however CEO John Chen is very confident the company will start to show a come back to the market. (De Vynck, 2014)
