What is Bioinformatics?Bioinformatics is a branch of science and

medicine and is the process of by which we gather information, validate information, and translate it into useful medical process and practices.

The Human genome project was a 13 year project coordinated by the U.S department of energy and the National Institutes of health.

In the past robots were thought of as science fiction. Today's robots are part of our daily lives:

R2D2, Mars Rovers Spirit and Opportunity. The one robot that could have an impact on

your well being is known as the Di Vinci Robot. This robot is used in the aid of surgery. It helps the surgeon make precise cuts, resulting in smaller scars.

The Divinci Robot has four major parts Surgical console Patient side cart Endo Wrist  Instrument Insite Vision System.

The Surgical ConsoleThe surgical console seamlessly translates

the surgeons hand movements into precise real time movements of the surgical instruments inside the patient.

Patient Side CartThe patient side cart contains robotic arms

that directly contact the patient.These arms located on the patient side cart

are enhanced with the function to move 1-2 cm . Thus eliminating the use of the patient’s body wall for leverage and minimizing tissue damage.

Endo Wrist Instruments The Endo wrist instruments provide the

doctor with interchangeable instruments that act as the doctors hands.

It also provides the doctor with more options rather than limitations.

Insite Vision System this is the camera unit that shows the

images of the patient This system eliminates background noise

and prevents fogging of the lens.

Bioinformatics is the use of computer science, mathematics, and information theory to model and analyze biological systems, especially systems involving genetic material. Using this knowledge how do you think the job market for the health care industry will look like in the year 2020?
