American Horror Story Analysis

• The opening scene of American Horror Story has all the codes and Convections of what you would have expected, the tense music to keep the audience interested and eager to watch more, the quick shots of all the codes and convections, for example the organs in jars that foreshadows the possible murders and deaths. The lighting is very low key but there were times when the it became very high key because of the practical lighting, the colours that were mainly used were black, grey some orange from the flames, all these colours are usually liked with the genres of thriller and horror. The things that stands out the most would be the pictures of the children, when children are associated in movies/shows that aren't to do with Comedy they are though of as evil and spooky.

Captain America – winter soldier

The extract started of with typical heroic music that is mostly associated with marvel and other heroic movies, the sound track was loud to represent the power and authority of the characters that were shown while it was playing. The characters that were introduced were all the main characters that impact the movie in different ways. The extract was an animation and the colours that were used were if a limited pallet of red, black, and white, these colours could foreshadow the the events that are it occur later on in the movie, for example black could have been used to represent death of a certain main character and red could have been used to represent the anger and violence that occurs in the movie.

Coraline

the opening scene for Coraline is a ragged doll flying in though an open window into the hands of a metallic 'person'. The music that is used is tense, mysterious and quite scary for the specific target audience of the film, the instruments that might have been used to create this effect would've most likely been string instruments, piano, instruments that are used in an orchestras. In the opening scene it's shown to us that the metallic (robotic) person that has the doll is remaking the doll, they have changed the appear new of the doll to look like one person to another, at the end of the opening scene the doll looks like the main character, Coraline but with button eyes which foreshadows the the plot of the movie and some of the codes and convections that are expected to be in the movie.
