VALENCIA: SoCal CDC was founded in 2010 by Silverio Robledo and Paola Macchia-vello. The non-profit organiza-tion makes SBA 504 real estate loans in California.
T he largest SBA lender ranked by number of loans made in the L.A.
district is JPMorgan Chase Co. It’s the second consecutive year that the New York-based bank has been the top lender in the L.A. district.
JPMorgan Chase made 319 loans in the 2012 fiscal year ended Sept. 30. That’s up from 290 the previous year. Although the bank made a higher number of local loans, the aggregate dollar volume of those loans dropped from $45 million to $26.5 million.

LENDING: Wells Fargo Bank ranked second in Los Angeles in number of loans made. It also has ranked second – behind CDC – in dollar volume of loans for a total of $87 million. The
bank is the top SBA 7(a) lender in the nation and has surpassed $1 billion in loans nation-
wide for the past two years. “The last two years have been banner years,” said Rita Mitchell, Wells Fargo vice presi-dent and SBA regional sales manager. “We’ve added sales, underwriting and closing staff. We expect to lend even more in 2013.”

JUSTINA FENTON AND KEITH RUSSELLSHORTNIN BREAD BAKERY
SBDC CLIENT SINCE 2011
The transition from selling gourmet baked goods at farmers markets and events to opening a retail location presented some hurdles for Justina Fenton and Keith Russell. Fortunately, the Small Business Development Center was there to help. FREE advice from the SBDC’s expert Business Advisors helped the owners of Shortnin Bread Bakery create a business and marketing plan, launch a website, develop financial projections and open for business. “The SBDC has really helped me feel that I’m on the right path,” says Fenton. With six-figure sales projected for 2012, Shortnin Bread Bakery is on a roll.
