Lesson 1: Adverbs An adverb is a word that tells more about a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
Our family drove slowy to the zoo.
Highway safety is a very big problem.
Dad always drives extremely carefully.
An adverb can tell how, when, or where an action takes place. Notice that many adverbs end in ly.
Many people waited quietly. {HOW}
The gates opened early. {WHEN}
We waited outside for the gates to open. {WHERE}
