CURRENT FEES/REQUIREMENTS
• $100 Street Use Application Fee if submitted 90 days prior to the event• $50 late fee if submitted less than 90 days• 51% approval needed on required petition• No petition required for events lasting less than one hour with parades
and timed athletic events being exempt• Diagram of the area or route• Certificate of insurance (parades are exempt)• No two events can be within 1,000 foot of each other without approval
from the event organizer who submitted their application first.• Police order (traffic control plan) provided to applicant by Traffic and
Transportation• Applicant required to attend street use meeting which are held once a
month (one stop shop)

RECOMMENDATIONS
• Increase street use application fee to $250 to align with trail usage permit fee. Some events will require both the trail and street use permits
• Implement administrative fee not to exceed actual direct costs
• Increase late fee dependant upon when application is submitted; i.e. 60 days = $50; 45 days = $75; 30 days = $100; less than 30 days = denied
• Increase petition approval percentage from 51% to 60%• Increase buffer zone between events from 1,000 feet to
1,800 feet; approval needed by both the City and the event organizer

• Require the use of the trail system for smaller runs/walks with 1,000 or less participants
• Provide and encourage suggested routes/closures that are less impactful on businesses, residents and bus routes
TRAFFIC CONTROL RECOMMENDATIONS
• Require additional fee if staff provides a traffic control plan (if not covered by administrative fee)
• Require Traffic Control Barricade Plans for new events (for parade/run/festival or non-standard block party)
• $50 review fee to review Traffic Control Barricade Plan for new events
• Applicant required to submit Traffic Control Barricade Plan minimum 60 days before event for review if a new event
• Sample plans will be provided to the applicant for creation of a Traffic Control Barricade Plan for their event
• Fee review for barricades and no parking
NOTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS
• Event organizers to provide fliers with maps, closure times and contact information including cell phone number to property manager and businesses for distribution to tenants in buildings
• Place upcoming events on City’s website neighborhood by neighborhood both pending and approved
• Create email distribution list of upcoming events• Expand notification area, i.e. soft closure• Use Push notifications on smart phones
