Council of Catholic Women

Join us the third Tuesday of each month, September thru May for Mass at 7:00 P.M., followed by a 7:30 P.M. meeting and light refreshments.

Are you registered in the parish? Please do not take for granted that you are registered in the parish just because you attend mass here. If we have no record of your parish membership it could be quite embarrassing to us, or to you or your family, when some-one wishes to make wedding plans, have a baby baptized, or if you have been asked to act as a sponsor for baptism or confirmation. Please fill out a census form, which is located at the entrances of the Multi Celebrational Building (MCB), and mail it to the parish office.

Baptism

Baptisms are celebrated on Sunday after the 12:00 Noon Mass. Parents must be registered and active members of the parish for at least three months. No confirmed dates are given before approval by the pastor. Contact the parish office two months in advance. Godparents must be confirmed, practicing, Roman Catholics and must obtain a sponsor certificate from their parish. In order to avoid disappointments, do not book travel plans with family, Godparents, etc. until a confirmed date has been assigned through the parish office (561) 966-8878.

Marriages

Notify the parish office at least four months in advance.

Ministrations to the Sick

We appreciate knowing when a parishioner is in the hospital or homebound. Please call the parish office.

THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM

The unfolding of the story of the Incarnation continues today as the Church celebrates the Epiphany. The tale of the magi from the East is one of the most fascinating in all of scripture. It has much to teach us about what we can come to expect, even in circumstances and places that may seem insignificant or small. Bethlehem was a tiny town, what we might refer to today as a town without even one stop light. Yet it is over this seemingly insignificant place that the guiding star stops in its own search for the place where the Savior would be born. Too often we fail to recognize the fact that the star of Bethlehem comes to rest in our everyday lives, where we can experience God's presence, manifested in ever new ways. Epiphany calls us to shake off our stupor and recognize the One who comes to save us.

Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! The Lord shines upon you and the glory of the Lord appears over you (Isaiah 60:1-6).

Lord, every nation on earth will adore you (Psalm 72).

The Gentiles are coheirs, copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 3:2).

Magi from the east arrive looking for the newborn king of the Jews (Matthew 2:1-12)

January 6, 2017

With gratitude for your continued generosity and every prayerful wish, I am

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ: The annual collection in support of our Catholic schools will take place next weekend on January 14th and 15th, just a few weeks shy of Catholic Schools Week, which will take place in our Diocese and around the nation January 29th through February 4th. The national theme is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” Through our Catholic schools, we are able to provide an excellent education and pass on our Catholic beliefs to our young people in a context that affects every aspect of their growth and development as persons, and assures them future success after graduation – in life, in business, in their community and most importantly in their faith. As part of our Strategic Vision 2020, it has been our goal to support the mission of our schools by making Christ and our Gospel values present each day to all those who desire a Catholic education for their children, regardless of socio-economic status, race, ethnicity or religious beliefs. The need to increase the funding available for needs-based tuition assistance to families has never been greater. Therefore, the Diocese will now allocate funds raised through this Second Collection directly to the schools to be used for tuition assistance through the Lumen Christi Scholarships. The Diocese of Palm Beach is blessed to have 19 Catholic schools and preschools with more than 500 dedicated educators, serving more than 6,000 students. The academic curriculum at our schools is strong, and continues to grow stronger as more programs are added, these programs emphasize Catholic schools as communities of faith, knowledge and service. In 2016 this annual collection raised $133,115.16 for our Catholic schools. I am grateful to the people of the Diocese for their support of our efforts to provide scholarships to children who could not otherwise afford to attend Catholic schools. Catholic-school education is a priority in the life of the Diocese of Palm Beach. Your continued support of our diocesan Catholic schools is very much needed and appreciated.

Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito Bishop of Palm Beach
