SK180 Chamber Installation Guideline

•Uponarrivaltotheprojectsite,visuallyinspectthechamberstoensureaccuratequantities.Anydamagethatmayhaveoccurredduringtransportshouldalsobenotedatthistime.

•Forefficientshippingandtoalloweaseinhandlingandstorage,thechambersarestackedneatlyuponthemselvesandsecuredtoapallet.Unloadingisbestaccomplishedviaforklift.

•Chambersshouldbestoredinanareathatisflatandfreeofdebris.Toavoidthepotentialfordamage,thisstorageareashouldbeisolatedwellawayfromthetravelingpathsusedforconstructionvehicletraffic.

•Usingtheprojectplansandtheappropriatedetails,excavatethechambersystembedinamannertosufficientlyaccommodatethechambersandmanifolds.Toensureanadequatefit,andtoallowforastoneborder,anadditional12”ofexcavationisrequiredbetweenthetrenchsidewallsandthechambersystem.

• Ifstandingwaterispresent,dewateringmeasuresshouldbeutilized.

• Ifasoft,unstablefoundationisencountered,itshouldbeoverexcavatedandreplacedwithasuitablematerialasdeterminedbytheprojectengineer.

•Uponthepreparedfoundation,placea4oz.nonwovenfabriconthebedbottomandupandalongthesidewalls.Maintaina24”overlapoffabricatallseams.

•Usingtheprojectplansandappropriatedetails,providealevelbaseof¾”-2”cleancrushedangularstoneovertheentiretrenchbedbottom.Foundationstonedepthasindicatedontheprojectplans(minimum9”).See Fig-ure 1.Usingavibratoryroller,compactthestonebasetoachieveaflatlevelsurface.

• Ifspecifiedontheprojectplans,theperimeterunderdrainpipingmaybelaidatthispoint.

Priortoinstallationofthechambersystem,adequateattentiontothefollowingguidelinesisrequired.Inaddition,thechambersupplier,chamberinstaller(sitecontractor)andthedesignengineermaymeetforapre-constructionmeetingtodiscussanyquestionsrelatingtotheinstallationprocess,andtheguidelinesherein.

Compaction Requirements

•Usingtheprojectplansandappropriatedetails,fullyassemblethemanifoldsystem.

•Toalleviatethepotentialforscourattheinletlocations,laya15’widestripofwovengeotextile,alongtheentirelengthofthemanifoldmainline,adequatelycarpetingthebeddingbeneaththeinletlocations.See Figure 2&3.

•Positionthefirstchamberandendcapofeachrowwiththeinletpipes.Atthedesignatedlocations,coreanopeningintheendcapandinserttheinletpipe.Theinletpipesshouldpenetrate12”intotheendcap.Repeatthisprocessforeachrow.

•Maintainingan8”minimumclearspacebetweeneachrowisrequired.Theassem-blyofeachrowisachievedbyovertoppingthelastriboftheinitialchamberwiththefirstribofthesucceedingchamber.Overlaplocationsarelabeledoneachchamber.Rowassemblyshouldnotexceedthereachofthebackfillplacementequipment.Thefinalchamberofeachrowshallalsobeequippedwithanendcap.

•Endcapsareplacedwiththeendcapoverlappingthetopofthereducedsizejoiningcorrugation.Theendcapshouldbeheldinplacebyscrewsduringbackfilloperations.

•Eachchambercrownisequippedwithonecircularcutoutpointtoaccommodatetheverticalinspectionportriser.Usingtheprojectplans,identifywhichchambersshouldbefittedwithinspectionports.Usingareciprocatingsaw,cutoutthe4”diameteropeningattheappropriatelocation.InsertaUni-Teeorequalintotheopening.

•Smalllightweighttrackeddozerswithgroundpressurelessthan1100lbs/sfmaybeusedatthispointtofinalizethegradingofcoverstone.Stonemustbepushedparalleltorowsatalltimes.Wheel and Roller Loads Not Allowed.

•Covertheentiretopofthestonebedwithalayerof4oz.nonwovenfabric.Overlapallseams24”.Utilizingexcavatorpositionedoffbed,placeinitialbackfill.Begincompactionat24”.Rollertotravelparallelwithrows.Note: See Figure 5 and Table 1
