Move and scroll withinworksheets

Arrow keysMove one cell up, down, left, or right.

CTRL+arrow key Move to the edge ofthe current data region.

HOME Move to the beginning of therow.

CTRL+HOME Move to the beginningof the worksheet.

CTRL+END Move to the last cell onthe worksheet, in the bottom-mostused row of the rightmost usedcolumn.

PAGE DOWN Move down one screen.

PAGE UP Move up one screen.

ALT+PAGE DOWN Move one screento the right.

ALT+PAGE UP Move one screen tothe left.

SHIFT+F6 Switch to the previous panein a worksheet that has been split.

CTRL+BACKSPACE Scroll to displaythe active cell.

Select cells, rows and columns,and objects

CTRL+SPACEBAR Select the entirecolumn.

SHIFT+SPACEBAR Select the entirerow.

Enter and calculate formulas

= (equal sign) Start a formula.

F2 Move the insertion point into theFormula Bar when editing in a cellis turned off.

BACKSPACE In the Formula Bar,delete one character to the left.

ENTER Complete a cell entry from thecell or Formula Bar.

ESC Cancel an entry in the cell orFormula Bar.

SHIFT+F3In a formula, display the Insert

Function dialog box.

CTRL+A When the insertion point isto the right of a function name in aformula, display the FunctionArguments dialog box.

CTRL+SHIFT+A

When the insertion point is to the rightof a function name in a formula,insert the argument names andparentheses.

F3 Paste a defined name into aformula.

ALT+= (equal sign)

Insert an AutoSum formula with theSUM function.

CTRL+SHIFT+" (quotation mark)Copy the value from the cell above the

active cell into the cell or theFormula Bar.

CTRL+' (apostrophe) Copies aformula from the cell above theactive cell into the cell or theFormula Bar.

CTRL+` (single left quotation mark)Alternate between displaying cellvalues and displaying formulas.

F9 Calculate all worksheets in all openworkbooks. When a portion of aformula is selected, calculate theselected portion. You can thenpress ENTER orCTRL+SHIFT+ENTER (for arrayformulas) to replace the selectedportion with the calculated value.

SHIFT+F9 Calculate the activeworksheet.

CTRL+ALT+F9 Calculate allworksheets in all open workbooks,regardless of whether they havechanged since the last calculation.

CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F9 Rechecksdependent formulas and then

calculates all cells in all openworkbooks, including cells notmarked as needing to becalculated.

Insert, delete, and copy cells

CTRL+C Copy the selected cells.

CTRL+C, immediately followed byanother CTRL+C Display theMicrosoft Office Clipboard (multiplecopy and paste).

CTRL+X Cut the selected cells.

CTRL+V Paste copied cells.

DELETE Clear the contents of theselected cells.

CTRL+HYPHEN Delete the selectedcells.

CTRL+SHIFT+PLUS SIGN Insertblank cells.

Format data

CTRL+1 Display the Format Cellsdialog box.

CTRL+SHIFT+~ Apply the Generalnumber format.

CTRL+SHIFT+$ Apply the Currencyformat with two decimal places(negative numbers in parentheses).

CTRL+SHIFT+% Apply thePercentage format with no decimalplaces.

CTRL+SHIFT+^ Apply theExponential number format withtwo decimal places.

CTRL+SHIFT+# Apply the Dateformat with the day, month, andyear.

CTRL+SHIFT+@ Apply the Timeformat with the hour and minute,and AM or PM.

CTRL+SHIFT+! Apply the Numberformat with two decimal places,thousands separator, and minussign (–) for negative values.

CTRL+B Apply or remove boldformatting.

CTRL+I Apply or remove italicformatting.

CTRL+U Apply or remove underlining.

CTRL+5 Apply or removestrikethrough.

CTRL+9 Hide the selected rows.

CTRL+SHIFT+( (openingparenthesis)

Unhide any hidden rows within theselection.

CTRL+0 (zero)Hide the selected columns.

CTRL+SHIFT+) (closingparenthesis) Unhide any hiddencolumns within the selection.

CTRL+SHIFT+& Apply the outlineborder to the selected cells.

CTRL+SHIFT+_ Remove the outlineborder from the selected cells.

Use the Border tab in theFormat Cells dialog box

Press CTRL+1 to display this dialog box.

ALT+T Apply or remove the topborder.

ALT+B Apply or remove the bottomborder.

ALT+L Apply or remove the leftborder.

ALT+R Apply or remove the rightborder.

ALT+H If cells in multiple rows areselected, apply or remove thehorizontal divider.

ALT+V If cells in multiple columns areselected, apply or remove thevertical divider.

ALT+D Apply or remove thedownward diagonal border.

ALT+U Apply or remove the upwarddiagonal border.
