Access Management Plan
The SH 9 corridor has an Access Management Plan which providesguidance for agency review regarding access permit applications andfuture access decisions. The plan should preserve and support thecurrent and future functional integrity of the highway. The purpose othe access management plan is to achieve:
Improved traffic flow
Improved traffic safety
Reduced traffic conflicts
Provisions for appropriate access to adjacent land uses
In some cases, driveway access may be limited to a right-in and aright-out onto the highway. This may impact driver behavior patternand generate use of U-turns at designated breaks in the median.
A copy of the Access Management Plan is provided on the tablebelow.

New Highway Widening
Maintenance of traffic during construction is a major concern. The highway is being designed so that two-way traffic can bemaintained on a paved surface.
Grades and alignments are being maximized so that the majorityof the construction can be accomplished adjacent to the existinghighway, and then traffic will be transferred over to a completedsection while upgrading the old roadway surface.
