Mr. Swapnil Nandanwar, during the talk,
covered the basics of Manufacturing processes, in
that he has given various examples of industry on
forming processes. The main focus of lecture was
composite materials and its applications in Aviation
industries. His valuable experience in this area was
helpful to get insight of the effects of materials used
for different applications such as airplane and
turbines. Information provided to the students are
also useful for pursuing their further research in this
upcoming area of Composite materials and its uses.
With his vast experience in Aviation Industry, he
also explained manufacturing process of some of the
airplane models. He had interaction with the
students and has given valuable guidelines to them
about the welding technology and material selection
for different uses. Students of Fifth Semester
(Section-B) B.E. Mechanical Engineering were
present and highly benefitted to carry out the work
in this emerging area.

Nagpur on 27/07/2015. Mr. D. P. Mukharjee, during
the talk, covered the basics of Kinematics of
machines, in that he has given various examples of
industry on relative motions and its degree of
freedom of various machine elements. The main
focus of lecture was degree of freedom and its
importance in Artillery, Ammunition and Missiles
industries. His valuable experience in this area was
helpful to get insight of the effects of kinematics
used for different applications such as missile and
small arms. Information provided to the students is
also useful for pursuing their further research in this
upcoming area of kinematics and its uses. With his
vast experience in missile and weapon Industry, he
also explained manufacturing process of some of the
missile shells. He had interaction with the students
and has given valuable guidelines to them about the
Rockets and Rocket launchers.

A Short Term Training Programme on 'Total
Quality Management’ was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of G. H.
Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur during 15th
– 19th June, 2015 under Technical Education
Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) of the
Govt of India. The STTP was inaugurated at the
hands of Mr. A. B. Pandey, President of NECO
Group of Industries, Nagpur on 15th June, 2015.
Dr. P. V. Walke, Head of Department of Mechanical
Engineering, GHRCE presided over the function.
Seated on the dais also were, Dr. D. J. Tidke, the
STTP Coordinator & Dr. V. M. Kriplni, Professor of
Mechanical Engineering.
Initially Dr. D. J. Tidke welcomed the delegates
and the guests and highlighted the scope of the
STTP and its relevance in the modern competitive
world. Mr. Pandey, during inaugural speech,
highlighted the strategic importance of
manufacturing excellence in today's business
environment and expected that a common forum of
academia and industry practitioners would bring
about significant changes in the present
manufacturing scenario. He shared his experiences
from steel making and foundry sectors and stressed
that excellence is crucial to survival of
manufacturing units in today’s competitive business world. He dwelt on various aspects of manufacturing
excellence and managing quality keeping in view the
needs of customer. He pointed out that the quality is
not achieved by accident but is the end result of
collective efforts of all in every organization. He
also appreciated the initiative taken by G.H.R.C.E.
in bringing together the academia and the industries
to provide real experiences in Total Quality
Management and learn from each other’s experiences. He pointed out that the quality is not

Dr. Walke, in his presidential address, informed
the participants about various academic and student
centric developments which have taken place at the
Institute in the recent years. He also highlighted the
research and patenting activities in progress and the
sweeping changes in the academic accreditation
process under NBA. He urged the participants to
adapt to the rapidly changing demands of outcome
based education and choice based credit system
being the need of the time.

The participants had a very educative industry visit
to Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Nagpur. This
enabled the participants to appreciate the quality
issues and shop floor problems related to quality
management in manufacturing and application of
modern quality management tools such as quality
circles, pokayoke, Kaizen, 5S and so on.
A total of 18 faculty members from of
engineering colleges, polytechnics and a few
research students from different parts of the
Maharashtra attended the STTP. Dr. Tidke proposed
a formal vote of thanks.

Department attended QEEE Training
program during 25th to 26th June 2015 at
IIT MADRAS
IIT MADRAS conducted a two day QEEE
training workshop on ''Digital Signal Processor and
Application (DSP) lab" for the coordinators all over
India. The training was scheduled from 25th to 26th
of June 2015.The main purpose of this training was
to explain the faculties how to work on Blackfin
processor with some examples. Along with this, they
explained about Eclipse software, its working and
installation. Prof. Anand and Prof. Mohan was the
resource person for the workshop. Course pack was
already given to the faculty members Faculties from
all over India participated in the workshop.
Based on the training, a seminar was delivered
by Prof. P. H. Rangaree in PG lab of Electronics
Department to share the knowledge and experience
based on the training attended. It was scheduled on
3rd July 2015. Around 40 faculty members and
M.Tech. Students of Electronics engineering
department were present for the seminar.

conducted a PG counseling and orientation program
for M.Tech. first sem students on 2nd
July 2015.The
head of the department Dr. Prema Daigavane

presentation on teaching scheme and highlights of
the program. The concerned faculties gave a
presentation on their respective subjects. The
students were then taken on a tour around the
campus and department laboratories. The program

Julyt2015 , Student of Mechanical Dept. have
represented SAE Collegiate Club GHRCE Nagpur
by the name of Team Prime Racing in this
competition. Team member Mr. Sanket Bante ,
Miss Riya Meghnani , Shubham Katait , Vaibhav
Lothe, Chetan Sharma .have been represented
GHRCE team in this event. In this event all over
India 340 reputed college was participated out of
them Finally 149team was qualify for the final
BAJA-2016 , which will held at NTRIP track SEZ
Prithampur, Dist Indor,( M.P) in feb-2016.
Unfortunately Team Prime Racing was not a part of
this event due to less mark, In the highly prestigious
car making competition in automobile sector.

developed Virtual design of car as per the
guideline provide by BAJA SAE INDIA under the
able guidance of Prof. Nilesh Awate, Faculty

Project title finalization seminar of
Electrical VII Semester students
The students of seventh semester Electrical
Engineering are doing a six months industrial
internship all over India as part of their curriculum.
The aim of this internship is to train our students on
working environments of corporate and industries.
The students are required to give a seminar on title
finalization regarding their final year project. Since
many students are out of Maharashtra the seminar
were conducted online on Skype on 13th july 2015
,others gave the seminar offline.The seminar was

On 13th
july ,the M’tech IPS second year students gave a seminar on industry intern ship. The
students had done a 30 days internship in various
industries across vidharbha were they got hand on
experience in work culture of industries. The

proposed work to the students. Alongwith

Installation programme of Solar Energy
Society of India (SESI)
Department of Mechanical Engineering has
organized an installation programme of office
bearers of Solar Energy Society of India (SESI) on
24-07-2015(Friday). Mr.Bhushan Behade was
elected as a President, Mr.Rahul Pandey as a Vice
president, Mr.Mayur Dhandge as a secretary,
Mr.Raunak Suryawanshi as joint secretary and
Mr.Amit Mane as a treasurer.
Guest for the programme were Dr. D. J. Tidke
and Dr. V. M. Kriplani, Professor in Mechanical
Engineering Department. HoD Dr. P. V Walke
guided the students about the importance of SESI
and activities to be conducted in the department
under the banner of SESI. All students members of
SESI and faculty members of Mechanical Engg
Department were present in the programme.

Installation of Mechanical Engineering
Forum
On 25th
, July the Installation programme of new
Forum was organized by the department. Various
delegates were present at the time of installation. Dr.
P. V. Walke, HOD Mechanical Department, Dr. D.J.
Tidke, Dr. Kriplani, Prof. V.N. Bhaiswar , Prof. A.
S. Raut,rof. K.S.Chaudhari, Prof. Kshirsagar, Prof.
Harshlata and other faculties of Department were
also present there. Dr. Walke had guided students
and gave the new ideas about the activities which

The department of Mechanical Engineering of G.
H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur has
organized a RRC Meeting for M.Tech (Heat Power
Engineering) on 29/07/2015. Students from M.Tech
III Heat Power Engineering called for present their
work in front of External expert for finalization of
project topic. Dr.D.B.Zodpe, Associate Professor,
VNIT, Nagpur was expert and gives valuable
suggestion and made minor correction in titles.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of
G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering Nagpur has
organized Industrial Visit at Shivam Parle-G Biscuit
Factory, Umrer Road, Nagpur for B.E. Fifth
semester Section –A students on 04/07/2015. Mr.
Petkar, Plant visit in-charge helped us for organizing
this industrial visit & has given brief information
about the company. Shivam Parle-G Biscuit Factory
is a part of Parle-G industries. Basically Shivam
Parle-G Biscuit Factory produces only parle-G
biscuits out of many products of parle like poppins,
kismi, mango bite etc.
The student of V semester Section –A along with
Prof. K. S. Rambhad, Prof. R. A. Jibhakate, Prof. A.
A. Raut and Prof. H. S. Rewaskar visited the
company at 11.00 AM. Mr. Petkar has shown video

Treatment Plant, MIDC, Hingna , Nagpur under the
banner of Association of Consulting for Civil
Engineers (India) for fifth semester (Section B) on
11th July ,2015.The students were able to
understand the water treatment process and it’s working in the real life. All the water treatment
process like initial pumping of water from Ambazari
lake, aeration , coagulation , flocculation ,
sedimentation , filtration , disinfection and pumping
to the ESR were explained to the students a plant
Engineer Mr. Pusatkar .
It was very beneficial visit for students and
enhanced their knowledge regarding water treatment
processes in the subject Environmental Engineering-
I . 67 students were present in this visit. Head of
Department Dr.P.Y.Pawade was provided the
necessary guidance. The site visit is executed by

Pvt.Ltd, 38, Surendra Nagar, Hingna MIDC at
Nagpur, on date 11th
July 2015. The main aim is to
provide students a glimpse of the actual work
situation and to understand the industry
environment, to study the production of product
manufactured, to get a first hand information about
the operative system , machines and procedure
adopted by industries in practice and to gain some
work experience. Mr. Vijay Sontakke, Manager, has
provided necessary information to student about the
procedure of manufacture of different types of step-
down transformers ranging from 25 kW to 200 kW
and the visit has successfully done. Visit is
organized by Department of Electronics
Engineering, GHRCE, Nagpur. Prof. P.M.Ghutke &
Prof. Akshita Baisware accompany to the students
in the visit.

organized by mechanical department
On July 11, 2015 G.H. Raisoni College of
Engineering, Nagpur organized an industrial visit at
MM Boring Works Near Gandhi Sagar Lake,
Gandhibagh Nagpur for students of Third semester
section-D. Mr. Sushil Sharma, Officials of “MM Boring Works” given brief information about the overall functioning of various departments and
machines such aslathe, crank shaft grinding, boring,
drilling, crank metalizing and honing etc
The main functioning is boring the cylinder head
and piston linings. Reconditioning & maintenance
shop & safety practices performed in company.
Company manufacture and repair the automobile
parts. The students entered into shop floor with Mr.
Patil. Total 30 students from III-D semester
Mechanical Engineering along with three faculty

organized Industrial Visit to “HEAT TREAT WELL, MIDC, NAGPUR”, for students of third
semester B.E. Mechanical sec.-A , on 21th July’15.
Mr. A. Umathe, Sr. Engineer of HEAT TREAT
WELL, MIDC, NAGPUR given brief information
about the overall plant and various departments. He
has explained various heat treatment processes like
Annealing, normalizing, quenching, hardening,
tempering. Mr. Umathe explained the heat treatment
process for tractor trolley attachment in detail in
which he explains the importance of nitride solution
and quenching processes. The company performs
heat treatment to the various components like
tractor- trolley attachment mechanism, gear blanks,
truck bumpers etc, according to the order given by
various companies.
Overall 66 students along with four faculty

Purchase etc. In production, he explained how the
gear is manufacture in which he explains the
procedure of hobbing tool fixing in CNC machine
and program generation for gear teeth cutting.

processes like turning, threading, broaching,
hobbing process. The company’s main products aregears and supplementary parts of gearbox of
different vehicles, like cars, trucks etc,.

Civil Engineers (India) for Third semester (Section
A & B) on 25th
July, 2015.The students were able to
understand the process of soil treatment and soil
sample collecting for test on soil by using hydraulic
machine for standard Procter test. The cylindrical
cores of standard volume, 13cms long and 10cms
diameter, they have a sharpened edge at one end to
improve penetration of the soil surface. These cores
are driven fully into the surface to be tested; they are
removed from the ground without disturbing the
core contents. In the laboratory they are cut flush top
and bottom and weighed were explained to the
students by Er. Vinod Chahal site Engineer. It was
very beneficial visit for students and enhanced their
knowledge regarding the processes in the subject
Geotechnical Engineering-I . 27 students were

Environmental Engineering Students on
25-07-2015
M. Tech. Environmental Engineering students
had visited the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Soil
Testing Project at Hingana Road, Hingna on 25-07-
2015 under the banner of Association of Consulting
for Civil Engineers (India). Prof. M. P. Bhorkar,
Prof. V. K. Gajghate and Prof. S. D. Ghodmare had
taken initiation to conduct the site visit successfully.

Semester Env. Engg. had visited
and studied the various aspects of Geo
Environmental engineering. The students were very
keen to know the degradation of environment due to
the development of the city. The impact of
construction on the surrounding soil was analyzed
during the visit. The soil testing project was
collecting the samples of the soil to analyze for safe
construction of metro rail project. Various
equipments were available at the site for the sample
collection and analysis. The impacts of construction
on the ground water were also explained by Er.

CSE department have attended the Industrial Visit.
SM Wireless Solution is hardware and software
designing industry and work on various platforms.
They mainly work on designing IC’s. The main aim of this visit is to provide students a glimpse of the
actual work situation and to understand the industry
environment and to gain some work experience.
