The students were impressed by the knowledge, the way of teaching, the use of board & the clarity of concepts delivered by sir. Also, the kindness he has shown while clearing the doubts of students was also appreciated by the students (as said by Deepali Dakhole: one of the beneficiary students of Guest Lecture). Guest Lecture by Dr. M. Kshirsagar An expert lecture by Dr. Manali Kshirsgara was arranger by CSE department on 10 September 2012. She has covered the topic Bio Informatics and Data Mining. She has covered the techniques of data mining and its applicability to Bio Informatics; she has also discussed the future scope of Bio Informatics. Electronics Engineering Department of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering organized a guest lecture on “This Is Bluetooth World” on dated 27th August 2012 by Mr. Gaurav Holey, Project Manager, ASKINDIA TECHNOSYS Nagpur. He was welcomed by Dr.A.Y.Deshmukh , Head of Electronics Engg. Department. As electronics Engg. Students are nicely aware of communication electronics so Bluetooth technology related to the subject was explained to the students Brief about It’s implementation into the current projects in India also given to the students. Session became very interactive with the audio and video clippings into the lecture. Advantages & disadvantages of technology, which part should be considered exactly for the actual implementation was perfectly put in front of the students. Mr. Abhishek Angole, Director, I labs, Nagpur, delivering the lecture on ROBOTICS

Department of Mechanical Engineering, GHRCE Nagpur had organized a Guest lecture on Robotics on 18/09/2012 for the students of M Tech CAD/CAM. The guest lecture was delivered by Mr. Abhishek Angole, Director, I labs Nagpur. He explained the various types of robots and focused on the types of sensors and motors used in Robot. He elaborated the talk with large number of videos explained the working of different robots. His presentation on snake robot was spell bounding. About 30 students have attended the guest lecture. Students found the guest lecture very informative and useful for project development

Guest Lecture for M.Tech Heat Power Engineering Students

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of G.H.Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur has organized a Guest Lecture on Renewable Energy Sources on 17/08/2012. The guest lecture was delivered by Mr.M.G.Ganoje, Executive Engineer of Koradi Thermal Power Training Centre.The talk was mainly aimed at upgrading the knowledge on Renewable Energy Sources. Students from M.Tech I and III Semester Heat Power Engineering were present.Mr.M.G.Ganoje explained various types of renewable sources of energy and its importance in present energy crisis. He also explained the students the cause of sudden hike in the crude oil prices in the international market.

The guest lecture was co-ordinated by Prof. V.W.Khond, of Mechanical Engineering Department. Dr.P.V.Walke (HOD Mechanical), Dr.V.M.Kriplani were prominently present for the guest lecture.

Guest Lecture Organized at GHRCE by Information Technology Department

Informaton Technology department of G.H .Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur had organized Expert Lecture on the topic “Sorting in Data Structure” on 5th September 2012.The guest speaker was Dr. Sathe, Professor VNIT, Nagpur.

In the lecture, Dr. Sathe expressed the importance of sorting in research. He presented various approaches in sorting techniques. He also informed the audience about the applications of sorting in programming applications. He stressed on the time and space complexity required by different sorting techniques. Dr. Sathe highlighted the research work for effective sorting .

The students interacted lively with Prof. Sathe. It was very interactive session which has cleared all the doubts in students mind.

Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Department of G.H. Raisoni college of Engineering Nagpur organized Two days Workshop on “CYBORG-The Robotics Workshop” in collaboration with KYRION ROBOTICS CLUB & AIESEC IIT Kharagpur for U.G. students. The workshop was held on 8th & 9th September 2012 with 53 participants. Mr. Narender Negi, Business Manager, Kyrion Tech. Pvt. Ltd. was the speaker with Mr. Himanshu Arora, Lead Faculty for Workshop, Kyrion Tech. Pvt. Ltd. Dr. P.R. Bajaj, Director, G.H.R.C.E., Nagpur & Dr. M. M. Khanapurkar, Head ,E.T.C. Dept. spoke on occasion & urged the students to grab this opportunity.

The Two Days workshop was divided into four sessions. On the first day, Mr. Himanshu Arora delivered lecture on Introduction to Electronics World, Introduction to Robotics World, Hands-on practice on Actuators & Power Supplies, Building & Operating Simple Manual Robots and Programming & Algorithm Analysis. Second day starts with enhancing programming capability, practical session on Sensors, Embedded System & AVR Microcontroller Programming and to Build & Operate Simple Autonomous Robots.

This workshop helps to learn the fundamental behind the working of manual robots, wireless control technologies, embedded C programming coding techniques, robotics sensing & driving, working of autonomous robots (line follower), apart from this student also learn skills to create interest in the field of science & technology, encourage creative & lateral thinking, encourage new ideas, and most important it encourage student to work in team & to do multi-tasking.

Prof. P. H. Chandankhede was the Faculty coordinator of the workshop & Mr. Sourabh Pawade & Miss Priya Rathod was the student coordinator of the workshop & all the other faculty members along with non-teaching staff took efforts for the successful conduction of the workshop.

Third session chaired by Sau . N. Kamla, corporate trainer/customer relation manager, explained the various skills required in corporate culture.

The credit for the success of industry visit goes to Dr.P.R.Bajaj, Director, Mr.K.D.Joshi (IIP cell coordinator), Dr.P.V.Walke (HoD Mechanical Engg.), Prof. V. S. Khangar (T & P coordinator, Mech.) and all faculties and students participants.

Installation of First Year Forum ‘FAITH’

Department of First year B.E. G H Raisoni College of Engineering organized the installation ceremony of Forum ‘Faith 2012-2013’. The Forum was inaugurated by the very eminent Mr. V. Murli, HR trainer and Motivational speaker on 5th Oct 2012. The Forum is installed with the vision that while there should be focus on excellence in academics there should be equal attention on emotional, cultural and social development of students. The events and programs under the Forum ‘FAITH’ include activities that nurture team work, out-of-the-box thinking, spirit of camaraderie, working under pressure, etc.

The ceremony began with lighting of the traditional lamp and welcoming of the guests, which was followed by the Investiture Ceremony wherein the students Mr. Vivek Rafalia and Ms. Apoorva Sonavane were made President and Vice-

President and Ms Rajasi Patil and Mr Shubham Thosar became the Technical secretaries while Ms Shalaka Joshi and Mr. Vipin Dahiya became the Cultural Secretaries.

Mr. V. Murli, Chief Guest of the ceremony in his speech, motivate the students by his inspiring words. He urged the students to dream big and not shy away from hard work. He cited various examples such as Thomas Edison, Dhirubhai Ambani etc. to drive home the point that it is we who write our destinies and are bound only by the strength of our belief in our dreams and nothing else. He further revealed the mantra for a successful career. He told the students that the three most important factors are Attitude, Leadership and Communication Skills.

Forum President Vivek Rafalia in his address delivered the report on activites conducted under the aegis of Forum in the last academic year 2011-12 and about his roadmap for the coming year.

Forum In-charge Ms. Gurpreet Randhawa spoke on occasion and shared her vision on this years Forum. The program was conducted by Ms. Avanti Bhandarkar and Mr. Sanket Bante. Ms. Apoorva Sonavane delivered the vote of thanks.

Installation of student forum EPICS at Electrical Department of GHRCE, Nagpur

The students forum EPICS was installed in the Electrical department of GHRCE, Nagpur on 29th August 2012. Mr.B.N. Farkade Ex. Technical Director, MSEB, Maharashtra state was invited as Chief Guest and Mr.Jaisingh Chavan Managing Director of Rangana Group of Industries was the guest of Honour.

The students forum EPICS was installed in the Electrical department of GHRCE, Nagpur on 29th August 2012. Students of Electrical Department have participated in this activity. Prof.P.P.Jagtap was a forum incharge & Prof. Y.Nagdeve was a co-in-charge are looking to this activity and they coordinate the whole activity.

For this many students have participated and apply for the various posts. Mr. Abhishek Singh was selected as a forum president. He was manage the whole event properly. Students were enjoyed the whole event and was carried out very

“ETHOS-2012 and IETE-ISF”

The students forum ETHOS-12 and IETE-ISF(Students Chapter) of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department of G. H Raisoni College of Engineering was inaugurated on 28th August 2012 at the hands of Dr.S.A.Nimbalkar, Ex-Vice Chancellor, KVP, Nagpur & Dr.P.R.Bajaj, Director GHRCE, Nagpur. On this occasion, installation ceremony of ETHOS & IETE ExeCom body took place. Ms.Khushboo Mudit, ETHOS President highlighted the various techno-cultural activities conducted under the forum and Ms.Priya Rathod highlighted the various technical activities conducted under the IETE-ISF. Dr.M.M.Khanapurkar, Head of ETC Department highlighted the activities of ETC Department .Chief Guest Dr.S.A.Nimbalkar congratulated the newly elected ETHOS and IETE-ISF body and stressed on the need to have such events to cultivate the hidden talents of students.He also focused on the need of engineers in our country to add more feathers to a cap. The program was compered by Ms.Pruthvi Kotak and Ms.Juee Bhope. Inauguration was followed by various cultural events like Singing, Dancing, Rock Band & Fashion Show. Team of ETC Department including Teching and non-teaching staff and students worked hard to make the event a unique one.

Inauguration of ZENITH-12 at G. H. Raisoni College of Engg Nagpur.

“ZENITH-12 “the very own student’s forum of Electronics Engineering Department of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering was inaugurated at the hands of Air Commodore V.K.Mishra (Chief Engineering Officer,HQMC, Indian Air Force,Nagpur) on 7th September 2012 at GHRCE. Dr.D.P.Kothari Director General RGI presided over the function. Group captain Anurag Rai, Dr.P.R.Bajaj, Director GHRCE and Dr.A.Y.Deshmukh Head Electronics Engg department were also present for the inauguration.

The installation ceremony of ZENITH & IEEE student’s branch was also held. Mr.Suryateja, IEEE chair, elaborated on the various activities conducted under IEEE student branch, GHRCE. Talking about the various co-curricular & extracurricular activities conducted under the forum, Mr. Ajinkya Kulkarni ZENITH President gave an insight about its future plans & various activities conducted in the department. Dr. A.Y. Deshmukh highlighted the activities of the department. Dr. P.R.Bajaj advised the students to think globally & act accordingly. She also appealed the students for undertaking various personality development initiatives. Chief Guest of the function Air CMDE V.K.Mishra congratulated the newly elected members of ZENITH & IEEE student branch. AIR CMDE V.K.Mishra made it a point to clear the myth that only people with love for the country could successfully accomplish jobs in the Indian Air Force,or for that matter any other defence services and hence advised all the students to consider the option of joining the Air Force seriously career option, thus creating a bright future for oneself and for The country . He also addressed the students to carry out sports and other extracurricular activities. Dr. D.P. Kothari, Director General, Raisoni Group of Institutions stressed on the need for overall development of the students. He asked the students to keep no stone unturned for achieving excellence. Acknowledging the efforts of all the faculty members and students Mr. Aalhad Peshwe Vice President ZENITH proposed the vote of thanks. Prof.S.D.Giripunje, Prof.A.D.Tete, Dr.S.S.Dorle, Dr.D.V.Padole, Prof.L.P.Thakare and all the faculty members of the department were actively involved in the various activities. The inauguration was followed by various cultural events like Dance competition, fashion show and singing competition.

The students of Mechanical Engineering Dept., G.H.Raisoni College OF Engineering celebrated their annual gathering, “COMETS-2012” ON 5th September-2012.It was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Dilip Londe, Joint Director (Vidarbha region). Directorate of Boilers, Govt. of Maharashtra, Dr. P. R. Bajaj, Director, G.H.R.C.E and Dr.P.V.Walke; Head of Mechanical Engineering Department graced the inaugural event. The installation ceremony for COMETS- 2012was conducted with enthusiasm under the guidance of Forum in Charge Prof. N.P. Awate, Ankit Dey, President, and COMETS-2012 proposed the vote of thanks. All the faculty members actively participated in various activities. The inauguration was followed by various cultural events.

CSR ACTIVITIES

CSR ACTIVITY UNDER PHOENIX 2012

The Computer Science Engineering Department of G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur organized CSR activity under PHOENIX-12 in the month of September. The students of CSE department visited orphanage located in shradhanandpeth, Nagpur and had an interactive session with kids. Through this session students helped kids over there by providing basic knowledge of English language and basic information related to computers. Kids enjoyed the session and it had surely helped them. In addition to this CSE students had distribute fruits and sweets among the children and spent some time to interact with them. This CSR Activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr. L. G. Malik, Head of Dept (CSE) & Forum in- charge (CSE) Ms.S.M.Nirkhi.

Electronics Engineering Department conducted CSR activity.

Electronics Engg. Department conducted CSR activity at Rashtra Sewa Samiti Dhantoli Nagpur on dated 27/8/2012.It is the group of girls who have lost their homes and taken the support of social welfare society. There are total 150 girls accommodating under the roof. The M.Tech students of G.H. Raisoni college of Engineering conducted training program for the girls. They taught some electronics gadgets to them like emergency light making and Door bell as well as the high intensity torch with gaining advantage of low power consumption. The main aim of activity was to impart the technical knowledge to the students and for developing the self employability. These girls were showing great interest and enthusiastic participation made the program grand success and fruitful.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Students of Section-E along with the faculties at WINDALS PREICISION PVT. LTD.

An industrial visit of First Semester B.E. students of section-E was organized by the First Year Engineering Department on 1st September 2012 at GHRCE. 70 Students of Section E visited at WINDALS PREICISION PVT Ltd.

WINDALS is an automobile parts manufacturing company which manufactures Front axle for MAHINDRA’S tractors .The Engineers there divided the students into 2 batches to show them the actual manufacturing process. Students got to see two amazing machines which really reduces human load. The first was VMC and second a ROBOT which is used for welding purposes. All doubts of students of were cleared by them. The students were accompanied by Prof.A.A. Deshpande & Prof. S.S. Solanke. Students got the opportunityto know many useful things which will be beneficial to them in the future and will also enhance their practical knowledge.

Industrial visit to Remote Sensing Center

Students of M.E. (Wireless Communication & Computing) first semester of Computer Science & Engineering Department visited Remote Sensing Center, Nagpur on 13 September 2012. They have seen the projects and software’s they are using.

Industrial visit to Infocepts, Nagpur

Department of Computer Science & Engineering has organised industrial visit at Infocepts, Nagpur on 29 September 2102 for M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) first semester. Company people talked about business intelligence and current projects.

Industrial visit to NEERI

Department of Computer Science & Engineering has organised industrial visit at NEERI, Nagpur on 28 September 2102 for M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering) third semester. NEERI was celebrating CSIR day on 28 Sept and kept exhibition of their projects and all labs ready. They have also arranged expert lecture by Dr. Ashok Deshpande, University of Pune. Students were impressed by Bio Informatics labs and projects.

Industrial Visit by III semester and V sem students

The students of G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, (B.E.) IIIrd semester (Section-A & B) and Vth sem (Section-B) (Electrical Engineering) visited at various industry. IIIrdsemester / Section-A visited TRANS-ELECTRO MIDC, Nagpur on 25th August 2012.the fabrication of actual transformer was explained by officers of industry in a very well manner and students were satisfied.

IIIrd semester / Section-B visited Nagpur Motors MIDC Nagpur on 2nd September 2012. During this visit two executives form Nagpur Motors Mr. Sanjiv Kekatpure (G.M) and Mr. Vinode Nevare had Elaborate the actual Fabrication of Induction Motors.. The visit was made possible with the kind permission given by Avinash Bendre (M.D.) The Fabrication shown by Mr. Sanjiv Kekatpure, they have shown the actual design of winding and various tests like insulation etc on Induction Motor.

Vth sem (Section-B) visited Wanadongri Subststion, Nagpur on 25 August 2012.They shown the actual components which is used for the substation purpose and the students got the related knowledge. Students were benefited by this visit. The HOD Prof. S.B. Bodkhe congratulated the faculties & students for success of this visit.

Department of Information Technology, G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering had organized an Industrial Visit at Persistent System Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur on 15th of Sept. 2012. It was organized by Prof. S.G. Dhengre under the guidance of Prof. S. A. Chhabria, Head of department, Information Technology. On the occasion of the Engineers day celebration, the Chair person, Dr. Gole, Principal, Nagpur Institute of Technology, Nagpur gave a motivational speech on Swami Vivekanand and their life. Mr. Rahul Kahate, H.R. of Persistent System Pvt. Ltd. gave the detail about the company, their software products, technologies on they work, criteria for placements in Persistent. They also enlightened students with the information related to the various opportunities in Software industries and future trend in IT field. There were nearly 150 students and 4 staff members present for visit of III and V Semester. Faculty members, Prof. G. S. Khekare, Prof. S.S. Wazalwar and Prof. P.R. Maidamwar along with student coordinators left no stone unturned to make this event a grant success.

TECH. ACTIVITIES

Rainbow Paper Presentation Competition held at GHRCE

A Powerpoint Presentation competition was organized under the aegis of First year Forum ‘Faith 2012-2013’ at G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering on 5th October 2012. The theme for the competition was “Novell Energy Conservation/ Conversion Methods”. The budding students of the first year came up with different and interesting presentations on topics such as Charging T-shirts, Straddle Bus, etc.

In all 8 teams participated in the competition while the others supported them in the audience with great enthusiasm. The judges for the program were Dr. S. B. Jaju, Dean R&D, G. H. Raisoni College of Engg., Nagpur and Dr. U. S. Wankhede, Professor of Mech. Engg., G. H. Raisoni College of Engg. The judges appreciated and lauded all the participants for their hard work and wonderful presentations. They encouraged them by sharing their vision with students. The winners were Mr. N.

Sekar, Nitish Kumar and Harsh Choudhary for their presentation on ‘Floating Windmills’. The runners-up prize was bagged by Avanti Bhandarkar and Akriti Singh for their presentation on ‘Energy from Rice Husk’.

The proceedings of Powerpoint Presentation program was conducted by Ms. Smita Prakash and Mr Rudin Bose. Ms. Jyoti Kaur and Mr. Saiket Banerjee were the anchors of prize distribution ceremony. All the faculty members of First Year Engg. & Student Volunteers proved to be instrumental for the success of the program.

Skill Enhancement Programme Conducted in Electrical Department of GHRCE

A one month skill Enhancement Programme on “Awareness of PSCAD and Power World Simulator Softwares” is being organized in the Electrical Engineering dept. of GHRCE, Nagpur. The first batch has commenced from 11th August 2012 while the second batch in scheduled from 15th

September 2012 to 19th October 2012. To impart quality training, the batch size has been fixed at twenty students. The first batch in being conducted by Prof P.S.Vaidya and Prof Neena Anand while second batch will be conducted by Prof V.P.Rajderkar and Prof.P.R.Sawarkar.Including B.E,I- Year undergraduate students from all branches have shown over-whelming response for this programme.The programme is organized by Prof P.R.Sawarkar and Dr.A.A.Nimje under the guidance of Dr.S.B.Bodkhe HoD(EE) and Dr.P.R.Bajaj, Director, GHRCE.

RRC Meeting held in Electrical Department of GHRCE

The Research Recognition Committee meeting was held in Electrical Engineering department of GHRCE, Nagpur on 27th Aug2012. It was attend by Prof (Dr) M.V.Aware expert

from VNIT, Prof(Dr)S.G.Tarnekar,Prof(Dr) U.S.Wankhede asDirector’s nominee and Prof(Dr)S.B.Bodkhe, HoD(EE).

In this meeting the M.Tech (IPS) Sem-III project titles and themes proposed by PG students & their supervisors were received and finalized with suggestions and corrections wherever needed. In all 19 project synopsis were reviewed. The arrangements were looked after by PG Co-coordinator (EE) Prof R.H. Adware.

The Poster exhibition functions by M.Tech.Communication Engineering students held at Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Department, GHRCE Nagpur on 28th August 2012 .

The Ex Vice Chancellor of Punjabrao Krishi VidyapeethDr. Sharadrao A. Nimbalkar and Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director of G.H.R.C.E.,Nagpur inaugurated the poster exhibition. Dr. Shararao Nimbalkar addresses the M.Tech student stressing the

importance of the new technology in day to day life. M.Tech communication students explain the new concepts andtechnologies in the field of Wireless networks , Image processing and Error control coding through there posters. Dr. M.M.Khanapurkar,Head of Electronics and Telecommunication Department and all staff members of Electronics and Telecommunication department were also present..

The students of 3rd and 5th semester also visited to exhibition. The program was coordinated by Prof. S.S. Godbole and Prof. Bhushan Vidhale.

In continuation to the first progress seminar all the students presented the progress of their respective work which was planned. Compliance to the queries raised during first progress seminar was given by the students. The professors of the Mechanical Engineering Department and respective guides of the projectees were present as expert and jury members in this seminar to evaluate the progress of the seven semester mechanical engineering students. Amongst other who was prominently present for this progress seminar were Prof. K. D. Joshi, III cell co-coordinator and Dr. P.V.Walke HOD Mechanical Engineering.Valuable suggestions were given by experts in order to successfully go ahead in the right direction. This activity was co-ordinate by UG project co-coordinators Dr.V.M. Kriplani and Dr.R.N. Baxi

The students of Department of Mechanical Engineering participated in SAEINDIA organized VIRTUAL BAJA COMPETETION (Car making Competition of SAE ) at Bangalore Institute of Technology on 24th to 26th August 2012, Student of Mechanical Dept. have represented SAE collegiate club GHRCE Nagpur by the name of MECHXO in this competition.

Team member Sayad Husain, Roshan Ghakre, Sayyam Khanorkar, Mayur Ingle, Vivek Sharma, Swapnil Thakre have represented our team in this event.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Soulful Classical Singing and Dancing performances enthrall audience at GHRCE

The Department of First Year Engineering organised a “Classical Singing, Dancing and Instrument Playing Competition” under the aegis of the First Year forum “FAITH”. The Judges for the competition were Prof. Swati Dixit for the classical singing competition and Prof. Shweta Tayade for the classical dancing competition.

In the programme in all ten performances took place, four dance performances, five singing performances and a table jugal bandhi.

The dance performance by Aishwarya Abdeo of Section D was declared as the winner. She had performed a Tarana. The Runner-up for the dancing competition was Vaishnavi Joshi of Section H.

The winner of the singing competition was Sharvari Taklikar of Section I and the runner-up was Pooja Gadekar of Section E.

The programme was hosted by Ajin Unnikrishnan of Section C and Debjeeta Dutta of Section I. The Director Dr. Preeti Bajaj and Dr. Bhavana Butey Dean First-year were instrumental in making the programme a grant success. All the faculty members and student volunteers worked hard for the success of the programme.

Student Chapter of Institution of Engineers (India) Inaugurated at GHRCE, Nagpur

The student chapter of The Institution of Engineers (India) Electrical Division was inaugurated on in the Electrical Engineering department of GHRCE, Nagpur.Mr.B.N. Farkade Ex. Technical Director, MSEB, Maharashtra state was invited as Chief Guest and Mr.Jaisingh Chavan Managing Director of Rangana Group of Industries was the guest of Honour. Many students of this department have enrolled for the membership of this professional society. Faculty members already have either MIE or FIE recognition. During the inauguration, the student office beares of this chapter were installed by the hands of outside dignitaries for the year 2012-13. Ms. Nikita Deshmukh is nominated as chair, Mr.Dhananjay Nigot and Mr.Anurag Bisen as vice-chairs, Ms.Syba Malik as Secretary, Mr.Vinit Niwane as Treasure and Mr.Rahul Gupta as Coordinator. Prof.H.S.Dalvi and Prof.S.B.Kadu are looking after this chapter as staff advisor.

The inaugural Function was chaired by the Director, Dr.P.R.Bajaj. It was attended by HoD (EE), Dr.S.B.Bodkhe, Prof.S.Gtarnekar,all faculty members of EE department, Heads and Professors of other departments, all students of EE department and supporting staff.

On Teachers Day & Engineers Day function organized by GHRCE Nagpur on 20th September 2012 Prof.S.R.Sonaskar, Asst. Professor Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering awarded the grant of Rs 9000/- as a project mentor for the project “Trixbox Based Private Branch Exchange (IPPBX) System” (session 2011-12) under Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC), GHRCE, Nagpur.
