Arts & Crafts (Yr’s 1-2)

Students will work with a variety of tools and materials to develop their skills in art

and craft: They will paint, decorate, build, draw, and will learn how to work and

sculpt with clay, as well as print making. All projects are decided by the students and

all ideas are welcome and valued.

Ceramics (Yr’s 4-6)

This is a new and exciting club offered which will enable the students to learn the

basic construction techniques of working with clay involving many diverse projects.

As well as sculpture the students will have a chance to throw pots on a wheel, make

functional work, decorate, glaze and fire it.

Crafty Music (Yr’s 1-4)

Combine your artistic & creative skills and come along and make your own musical

instruments. We will be making instruments from a variety of materials, some

recycled, painting and decorating them and then playing them. This club is ideal for

those students who wish to combine their artistic and creative talents with music.

Football (Yr’s 1-2)

This is a fun introduction to learning the basic game of football. The students will

learn how to play within a team and to communicate with their team mates. They

will play matches against each other and will quickly develop their knowledge and

skills.

Football (Yr’s 3-4)

A fun way of advancing the children’s awareness of football where they will increase

their knowledge and skills through hard work. They will improve their technical

abilities as well as learning how to work as a team. Football will teach the students

good sportsmanship.

Football (Yr’s 5-6)

This club will challenge the students and will help to improve their technical, social,

mental and physical attributes.

The students will train hard and by the end of the year, should have a good

knowledge of how to play and understand the tactical and strategic dimensions of

the sport.

French (Yr’s 1-2)

The students will be introduced to the French language and will learn basic words

and recognize different images through games and puzzles. They will also learn how

to count and familiarise themselves with basic French vocabulary.

French (Yr’s 3-4)

This club will enable the students to obtain a more grounded knowledge of the

French language, as they will learn to make sentences and will practice conversing

with each other through dialogues. This club is designed to improve the students’

overall knowledge of the French language so that they become more confident and

comfortable.

French (Yr’s 5-6)

The club is aimed at those students who already have a sound knowledge of French

and would like to expand their abilities in this language. They will participate in

group activities to encourage the oral communication and will learn to write small

stories in order to develop their written skills.

Games, Games, Games (Yr’s 2-3)

Students will take part in playing board games, card games or group games such as

Charades. There will be a wide variety of games to pick from for example Yahtzee,

Uno and Snakes and Ladders etc. The children choose amongst themselves or they

can bring in their own games to share with the club. All age related games are

welcomed but no electronic gadgets or devices permitted.

Gardening (Yr’s 1-4)

Students will have the opportunity to learn how to grow plants, weed, and water and

enjoy the great outdoors. Gardening is a great hobby and will teach the students a

lot about nature and how plants can survive, grow and live in various environments.

When the weather is especially cold or wet, we will make things inside.

Guitar (Yr’s 4-6)

Open to beginners and students with prior playing experience, primary guitar club

will give students the opportunity to learn how to play guitar in a group setting.

Topics covered throughout the academic year will include; using a plectrum; finger

picking; playing melodies; chords and strumming patterns. Guitar club members will

perform as part of an ensemble at the end of year primary school concert.

Hip Hop & Modern Jazz Dance (Yr’s 3-4)

The club will offer basic hip-hop and modern jazz dance. It will include learning how

to stretch and warm up properly and the students will learn several choreographies.

It will be suitable for novices and more advanced students.

Hip Hop & Modern Jazz Dance (Yr’s 5-6)

This club is designed for students who wish to participate in hip-hop and modern

jazz dance. The students will be at a more advanced level than Yr’s 3-4 and the

choreographies will be slightly more challenging. This is a great activity to let off

some steam and energy and to participate in a group activity.

Instrumental Club (Yr’s 1-2)

A lunchtime club offered to KS1 who have instrumental or singing lessons at school.

They may come along and sing or play their pieces and songs to each other in a

relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Jeux de Cartes/Playing Cards Club (Yr’s 3-6)

Les enfants auront la possibilité de se divertir dans le calme et d’apprendre à

communiquer, à partager et à développer leurs compétences en stratégie et en

observation. Ils apprendront des jeux de cartes très variés tels que le kems,

l’ascenseur, le whist ou encore la bataille et la réussite…Le club se déroulera en

français, ce qui permettra aux enfants de s’exercer tout en s’amusant.

Junior Choir (Yr’s 1-2 & 3-6)

This club gives children the opportunity to get together and enjoy singing in a group.

The children will learn various musical pieces and will have the chance to improve

their vocals.

Mandarin Beginner (Yr 2)

The students will learn basic, every day vocabulary and speak in categories such as

animal, body parts, colour, number, shape and greeting. The lesson will also teach

some Chinese culture such as thousand years of history. Knowledge of Mandarin will

enrich your understanding of Chinese culture.

Mandarin Level 1 (Yr’s 4-6)

(Only for those students who attended last years Mandarin Club)

This club will enable the students who participated in last year’s Mandarin Club, to

further develop their knowledge of the Mandarin language. The students will be able

to immerse themselves deeper into this rich culture and will be at a more advanced

and comprehensive level.

Netball (Yr’s 4-6)

Netball is a fast, exciting true team sport which involves running, jumping, throwing

and catching to move the ball quickly down the court to score a goal. All players

need to defend and attack during the game. The players need to be quick thinking,

as they are required to make speedy and accurate decisions on the ever-changing

situations that occur on court. Netball can be played by girls and boys of all ages.

It’s a great way to get active and have fun!

Ocarina (Yr’s 3-6)

The ocarina is a hand-made clay instrument that gives children an easy and tuneful

introduction to the world of music. Pupils can learn to play a tune within the first few

weeks, possibly after the first lesson.

Reading Group (Yr’s 5-6)

The club will provide pupils with the opportunity to read and develop a love of

reading. They will be set a reading challenge across the year with certificates for

those that complete the challenge.

Once they have read a book they will be encouraged to write a review of the book

and display it so other pupils can be encouraged to read the books they have

recommended.

Recorder (Yr’s 1-2)

Students will learn the basics of how to play the recorder with the aid of simple

beginner musical pieces.

Recorder (Yr’s 3-6)

(Only for students who already have basic knowledge of recorder playing)

The recorder club is intended for those students who already have a basic

knowledge of recorder playing.

Sewing (Yr’s 1-2)

Students will learn the basics on how to work with a needle and thread. They will

work on small projects and create various designs. This is a creative activity and can

be extremely beneficial to an individual once he/she has mastered the activity.

Sewing & Patchwork (Yr’s 5-6)

Children will learn basic sewing skills and make small creations that will include skills

such as appliqué, patchwork and basic embroidery. Some of the projects they will

make will include a needle holder, a small patchwork cushion cover and a small felt

purse.

Skipping (Yr’s 1-6)

Miss Barker and Mrs Treinen are ready to skip into the new school year. We will

jump for joy if you come along and join the skipping fun. We will be holding a new

club for Key Stage 1 and 2. Here we will practise our skipping skills and learn new

tricks.

Swimming (Yr’s 5-6)

A swimming training session designed to improve speed and stamina. The session

will include swimming drills in all of the 4 competitive strokes, designed to perfect

technique and increase speed. The aim will be to build the swimmers’ stamina,

swimming at least 40 lengths in a session. Transport to the pool will be provided.

Team Games (Yr’s 3-4)

Children will have the opportunity to play a variety of team games (such as

basketball, volleyball, hockey, football, rounder’s, dodge ball…)

Young First Aider (Yr’s 3-6)

This is a great opportunity for students to learn the importance of First Aid, and how

it can at times lead to saving an individual’s life. The students will learn what actions

to take in various situations and to handle the situations appropriately.

The course leads to a qualification in first aid and there may also be the opportunity

to attend a First Aid competition later in the school year.
