Application Tips
Before you get started, make sure you know the following:
• Email Address• Responses about your application will go to this address, so make sure it is
a valid address you can check• Social Security Number
• A social security number is not required to apply for admission but it is recommended. Reporting your SSN is not required, however entering it may help your records transfer to other colleges and universities you may attend later on
• Providing a social security number assists us in processing applications faster.
• Full Legal Name• To avoid delays in processing your application and other documents,
please use your full legal name.• If you have a Permanent Resident Alien Number, have that number available

1. Create your ApplyTexas account or log in using an existing accountwww.applytexas.org
2. Use the ApplyTexas Application Guide for help
3. Build the “Profile” section (needed to start your application)
4. Complete and Submit your application

Select First Choice School: This is where you will select your degree. You will select your major on the next page.
Choose one of the following degrees:
Associate of Arts: designed for transfer to most major public colleges and universities. Here are some examples of majors offered with this degree:
• Arts, Dual Credit High School, Concurrent High School Enrollment, Music, Teaching
Associate of Applied Science: designed for learning specific professional/technical skills and to assist students to enter the workforce. Examples of majors offered with this degree:
• Aviation, Culinary Arts, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Sign Language Interpreting
Certificates of Completion: part of the career and technical offerings and require fewer semester hours. Most can be applied toward an AAS degree.
• Accounting Clerk, Child Care Associate, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management,
Landscape Specialist, Long Term Care Administration

• If you will have graduated high school when you start your first semester at TCC, choose High School Graduate, otherwise choose Dual Credit or High School Early Admission. Dual Credit allows you to earn high school and college credit. Early High School Admission allows you to earn college credit only.
