The third SAEM Clinical Photography Competition and Presentation was featured at the 1997 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. Over 275 photographs were displayed from 75 contributors. A panel of academic emergency phy- sicians and professional medical photographers judged the photographs on visual appeal, academic utility, clinical accuracy, composition, and lighting. Awards were given to the photograph or series of photographs in 4 categories: Clinical, Emergency Medical Services, “A Day in the Life of Emergency Medicine,” and Residency Logo. The Jirst- place winner in each category is shown below.
