Roger Schamberger and Joshua Layerfrom Burbach Aquatics presented whattheir company has done in the past withother cities, and what they can do forour City in regards to the pool.
There was discussion on ADA compli-ance issues for both the pool and thebathhouse. Without official bids it wasestimated to cost upward of $300,000to update the bathhouse facilities. BurbachAquatics mentioned rebuilding a newbathhouse to accommodate the size ofthe future pool would be about the samecost and a better investment.
A discussion on a dome over thepool to make it a year round facility wasdiscussed to get more use from thepool.
Mayor Steele stated the need to notforego street projects to get a pool.
Council Member Joel Knox noted thatwith the street projects, there wouldnever seem to be a good time to fit thepool in. Knox also does not believe thata lift would make the pool compliant.

City of Wanamingo2014 Drinking Water Report
The City of Wanamingo is issuing the results of monitoring done on its drinkingwater for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2014. The purpose of thisreport is to advance consumers understanding of drinking water and heightenawareness of the need to protect precious water resources.
Source of WaterThe City of Wanamingo provides drinking water to its residents from a ground-
water source: a 600-foot-deep well that draws water from the Jordan-St. Lawrenceaquifer.
The Minnesota Department of Health has determined that the source(s) used tosupply your drinking water is not particularly susceptible to contamination. If youwish to obtain the entire source water assessment regarding your drinking water, please call 651-201-4700 or 1-800-818-9318 (and press 5) during normal busi-ness hours. Also, you can view it on line at www.health.state.mn.us/divs/eh/water/swp/swa.
Call Michael Boulton at 507-824-2477 if you have questions about the City ofWanamingo drinking water or would like information about opportunities for publicparticipation in decisions that may affect the quality of the water.
Results of MonitoringNo contaminants were detected at levels that violated federal drinking water
standards. However, some contaminants were detected in trace amounts thatwere below legal limits. The table that follows shows the contaminants that weredetected in trace amounts last year. (Some contaminants are sampled lessfrequently than once a year; as a result, not all contaminants were sampled for in2014. If any of these contaminants were detected the last time they were sampledfor, they are included in the table along with the date that the detection occurred.)
Key to abbreviations:MCLG_Maximum Contaminant Level Goal: The level of a contaminant in drink-
ing water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allowfor a margin of safety.
MCL_Maximum Contaminant Level: The highest level of a contaminant that isallowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible usingthe best available treatment technology.
MRDL_Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level.MRDLG_Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level Goal.AL_Action Level: The concentration of a contaminant which, if exceeded,
triggers treatment or other requirement which a water system must follow.90th Percentile Level_This is the value obtained after disregarding 10 percent
of the samples taken that had the highest levels. (For example, in a situation inwhich 10 samples were taken, the 90th percentile level is determined by disregard-ing the highest result, which represents 10 percent of the samples.) Note: Insituations in which only 5 samples are taken, the average of the two with thehighest levels is taken to determine the 90th percentile level.

If present, elevated levels of lead can cause serious health problems, especiallyfor pregnant women and young children. Lead in drinking water is primarily frommaterials and components associated with service lines and home plumbing. Cityof Wanamingo is responsible for providing high quality drinking water, but cannotcontrol the variety of materials used in plumbing components. When your waterhas been sitting for several hours, you can minimize the potential for lead exposureby flushing your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before using water for drinking orcooking. If you are concerned about lead in your water, you may wish to have yourwater tested. Information on lead in drinking water, testing methods, and stepsyou can take to minimize exposure is available from the Safe Drinking WaterHotline or at http://www.epa.gov/safewater/lead.
Monitoring may have been done for additional contaminants that do not haveMCLs established for them and are not required to be monitored under the SafeDrinking Water Act. Results may be available by calling 651-201-4700 or 1-800-818-9318 during normal business hours.
Compliance with National Primary Drinking Water RegulationsThe sources of drinking water (both tap water and bottled water) include rivers,
lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. As water travels over thesurface of the land or through the ground, it dissolves naturally-occurring mineralsand, in some cases, radioactive material, and can pick up substances resultingfrom the presence of animals or from human activity.
Contaminants that may be present in source water include:Microbial contaminants, such as viruses and bacteria, which may come from
sewage treatment plants, septic systems, agricultural livestock operations, andwildlife.
Inorganic contaminants, such as salts and metals, which can be naturally-occurring or result from urban stormwater runoff, industrial or domestic wastewa-ter discharges, oil and gas production, mining, or farming.
Pesticides and herbicides, which may come from a variety of sources such asagriculture, urban stormwater runoff, and residential uses.
Organic chemical contaminants, including synthetic and volatile organic chemi-cals, which are by-products of industrial processes and petroleum production, andcan also come from gas stations, urban stormwater runoff, and septic systems.
Radioactive contaminants, which can be naturally-occurring or be the result ofoil and gas production and mining activities.
In order to ensure that tap water is safe to drink, the U. S. EnvironmentalProtection Agency (EPA) prescribes regulations which limit the amount of certaincontaminants in water provided by public water systems. Food and Drug Admin-istration regulations establish limits for contaminants in bottled water which mustprovide the same protection for public health.
Drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to containat least small amounts of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants doesnot necessarily indicate that water poses a health risk. More information aboutcontaminants and potential health effects can be obtained by calling the Environ-mental Protection Agencys Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.
Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water thanthe general population. Immuno-compromised persons such as persons withcancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ trans-plants, people with HIV/AIDS or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seekadvice about drinking water from their health care providers. EPA/CDC guidelineson appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by Cryptosporidium and othermicrobial contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791.25-1a

County Dreamlike paintings, nostalgicprints on display at Crossings
ZUMBROTA The paintings of Kim Gordon and prints by AmyRice provide quite different, yet complementary views of rural Min-nesotan life, the prior focusing on landscapes devoid of humans andthe latter on a nostalgic vision of our rural predecessors. An exhibitfeaturing their work is on display June 22 through August 1, with anartists reception Saturday, June 27, 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Gordons landscapes in oil are dreamlike evocations of our south-ern Minnesota rivers and countryside. Devoid of humans and humanconstructions, save for an occasional road disappearing into the hori-zon, and painted in beautiful clear hues, her works evoke a profoundstillness. This quiet is further accentuated by the soft focus, whicheliminates detail, instead presenting the viewer with lovely general-ized views of waterways, hillsides and meadows.
The innocent nostalgia of Rices delightful prints perfectly comple-ment the dreamlike qualities of Gordons paintings. Rices tech-niques include stencil and hand painted gocco prints; with these shecreates a bucolic world of women in floral dresses and men in dunga-rees, standing in fields, picnicking and attending school socials. Thissense of our rural history is accentuated by the fact that Rice prints herworks on sheets of antique ephemera ... letters, recipes, musicalscores, and journal pages. These paper artifacts give her works a senseof intimacy and a connection to a tangible past.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. The showcan be viewed during regular business hours, MTWF 10 a.m. to 5p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Formore information, visit www.crossingsatcarnegie.com, call 507-732-7616, or stop in at 320 East Ave., Zumbrota.
Sturgeon fishing:Opportunities keepgetting bigger
Anglers have more opportunities to fish for lake sturgeon becauseof a new catch-and-release fishing season that reopens in most of thestate on Tuesday, June 16 , according to the Minnesota Department ofNatural Resources.
What does the new season mean for anglers? The new catch-and-release season on inland waters began in March.
Each year, it closes from April 15 to June 15 to protect sturgeon duringspawning. During the season, anglers can intentionally fish for lakesturgeon on inland waters. This allows sturgeon fishing on waters likeOtter Tail L ake and the Littlefork , Bigfork and Kettl e rivers all ofwhich have good numbers of lake sturgeon. Anglers can also c atchand release lake sturgeon on additional border waters like the Red , St. Louis and Mississippi rivers.
Why expand sturgeon fishing?Comebacks staged by lake sturgeon in recent years are making new
fishing opportunities possible. Sturgeon numbers have increased be-cause of improved water quality, dam removals ,restorative stockingefforts and conservative regulations .The new catch-and-release sea-son is a very positive outcome of recovery. However, it will still bemany years before lake sturgeon have recovered enough to allow forexpanded harvest opportunities.
What about shovelnose sturgeon? In March 2015, new regulations went into effect for shovelnose
sturgeon, a species found mostly in the Minnesota River and theMississippi River below St. Anthony Falls. Those regulations can befound on page 52 in the 2015 Minnesota Fishing Regulations booklet.
Where can I find more info?Lake sturgeon s eason details can be found at www.mndnr.gov/
fishmn or in the f ishing regulations booklet. Information on lakesturgeon tags is on page 43 of the booklet.
