Charrette goals:

• One day workshop to study the energy demand for a modelproject including the building envelope. Identifying allpossible energy reductions within a budget criteria formaximum ROI and GHG reductions. Use of renewableenergy sources

Structural elements

Arquitectural elements for shading and interior lighting.

Thermal insulation requirements by climate zone

Thermal mass and buildings orientation

Home appliances, solar thermal, PV panels, etc.

Modeling

5 design Charrettes starting February, 2010.

Achieve Zero balance between energy use and production of renewableenergy during a full year (to accommodate Mexican Power Companyrestrictions, new two-way smart meters).

Reduce energy consumption to the lowest possible, not to exceed lowestsubsidized rates, combining architectural and urban bio-climate design andthe use of government approved eco-technologies (solar water heating,CFL’s, insulation and AC efficient units, etc.) to achieve maximum energysavings and highest thermal and energy efficiency.

Install PV systems to generate energy during high demand, daylight time.

International partners help influence local authorities, achieve scale for market

transformation.

Global trends, local solutions

Use of the same international metrics

Certification programs for architects, engineers and home builders. Next one to

be held the 25th of February 2011 at the INFONAVIT

Promote Labeling

Monitor Green Mortgage homes and Subsidies (federal government program) ,

as well as, new ZEH

Homes in Mexico can be built to achieve near ZEH goals and

be sold at current market prices, even on low income homes

($20,000.00 to $35,000.00 US dlls.)
