Yourope was founded in 1998, and has evolved into the most important Association of European Festivals. Besides discussing trade topics and sharing best practices with its over 90 festivals and associated mem- bers, Yourope has founded dedicated groups dealing with health & safety (YES Group), green operations (GO Group) and marketing & communication (EMAC Group). Founded in November 1998, its members are dedicated to improving the European festival scene in terms of: • working conditions • health and safety issues • sustainability and environmental awareness • exchange of knowledge and information • promoting the cross-border exchange of live music talent in Europe The overall aim of the association is to collaborate, share experiences and to pinpoint areas that would be- nefit from a joint approach. Having gained respect within the industry and at government level, Yourope has the power to lobby for all legal and industry issues relating to the European festival industry on behalf of its members, and in conjunction with other associations in the live music business. Yourope also focuses on other key issues for festivals, such as exchange of information regarding marketing and sponsorship, contracts, production riders, radio/TV/internet rights and more. The association laun- ched its own Yourope standard terms for artist contracts and a standard agreement for use. GO Group Green Operations Europe

Yourope co-founded GO Group (Green Operations Europe) in 2011. It is an independent, cross industry think-tank to inspire people in the music, festival and events indus-try to run their operations greener, smarter and more sustainable. GO Group stimulates exchange. It organizes workshops, curates conference contributions and leads the discussion about social and ecological responsibility. Yourope awards member festivals committed to sustain-ability issues with the prestigeous Green’n’Clean Award based on the association’s own up-to-date newly revised assessment.

Yourope Event Safety Group

Since 2006, the YES (Yourope Event Safety) Group has organised many European Health & Safety Seminars for professionals working in security, crowd management, health, safety and production. Supported and facilitated by a steering committee, Pro-fessor Chris Kemp (Mind Over Matter Consultancy) and Henrik Bondo Nielsen (Roskilde Festival), developed a focused event and festival education programme which is delivered through seminars and workshops.Delivering their seminars in a dynamic and innovative way has ensured pan-European dialogue has been able to develop. By creating a safe environment for any issues experienced by festivals to be discussed, dissected and solved. The YES Group enables those working in the in-dustry to deliver a first-class service in health, safety and crowd management for both staff and customers. The YES group also provide, panels, conference keynotes and education across Europe.

European Marketing & Communication Group The EMAC Group was designed to support and inspire professionals of the music festival industry. It is a plat-form within Yourope, but not limited to its members. The main goals are sharing knowledge, best practices and promoting common goals in four main areas of interest:• Sponsorship• Marketing and product development• Communication• BroadcastingThe Group is involved with organizing meetings, work-shops, seminars and also draftsguidelines and proposals with the aim of creating a more efficient and professional marketing and communications environment in the fes-tival sector.

European Festival Awards

The European Festival Awards is an illustrious celebrati-on of the continent’s most vibrant live events and all of those who make them happen. It is widely considered to be the premier event for recognising the industry’s collec-tive achievements. Established in 2009 as a collaborative venture between Festival Awards Ltd, Yourope and Euro-sonic Noorderslag, the European Festival Awards takes place every January in Groningen, The Netherlands. Ye-ar-on-year the event garners millions of votes and enjoys participating from approximately 350 European festivals.

European Talent Exchange Programme

Yourope is a founding partner of the European Talent Ex-change Programme (ETEP) and has been active during Euro sonic Noorderslag for many years. ETEP stimulates the circulation of European artists within Europe pro-viding performance opportunities at selected festivals throughout Europe. The result is impressive: Every year more than 400 confirmed shows by over 160 unique Eu-ropean artists and bands from at least 20 countries at the now 110 – and counting – ETEP festivals! Since the start of the ETEP programme in 2003 a total of 3518 shows by 1254 European artists from 31 countries were presented at 100 ETEP festivals (2003 – 2017).

Take a Stand

In 2015, Yourope drafted a mission statement declaring the role of festivals in turbulent times such as the present one. Given the current political situation, this statem-ent has become more important than ever, prompting Yourope to go a step further and launching the campaign Take A Stand in March 2016, which encourages live enter-tainment professionals, who believe in peace, inclusion and dialogue, rather than fear and exclusion, to do just that: take a stand for the European idea and its values.Until the end of 2017, Take A Stand has already gained over a dozen associations and close to 100 festivals, clubs and companies!

European Festival Conference

YOUROPE launched the first European Festival Conferen-ce (EFC) in December 2015 in Kals, Austria. A conference, a gathering and summit of festival promoters in a new conference format related to all festival topics. The se-cond EFC took place in November 22–25, 2017 in Larvik, Norway with over 70 participants.
