PYP Exhibition
This Years Concept
Students will use the medium of film to express their ideas, feelings,
beliefs, values and the actions they have planned and taken,
on an issue of their choice.

PYP Exhibition
Students at RCHK will attempt to show an understanding of the main concepts: form, function, causation, change, connection, perspective, responsibiity, reflection.
Throughout the inquiry, students will be guided in showingthe transdisciplinary skills from all 5 areas: social, research,self management, communication, thinking.
Students must show positive attitudes: appreciation,commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity,confidence, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm,independence, integrity, respect, tolerance.

Within each action group, the following aspects need to be included:
• Examples of written work (Exhibition Journal & Exhibition Blog)
• Oral presentations
• Examples of the use of technology
• Performances in any medium e.g. dance, drama, film, video, mixed media

What is the role of the student?• With teacher support, carry out an open-ended or guided inquiry into a real-life issue or problem.
• To demonstrate their learning and the development of the attributes of the IBO learner profile
• Be academically honest when referring to their sources of information
• Reflect on the components of and processes involved in the Exhibition.
• Carry out self and peer assessment.

PYP Exhibition
• The students will spend about 8 weeks working on their inquiries from March until May.
• The students will still have math and literacy lessons during the Exhibition time, but the majority of each day will be used working on inquiries and taking action.
• There will be workshops that will help inquiries and actions develop and progress.
• Students need to document the Exhibition process by keeping an Exhibition Journal and Blog.
So how much time do students spend working on the Exhibition?

The home learning focus will be the Exhibition
New Wave Mental mathematics will continue each week
Students should continue to read every evening
The children should use their time at home to research and prepare for the Exhibition work which they will continue in class

Who will act in the role of mentor ?
RCHK teachers were invited to volunteer to act as a mentor for the Y6 PYP Exhibition.
• Over 65 teaching staff volunteered !!!
• In most cases each action group will be assigned 2 mentors

As with any inquiry there will be times when it seems that students are not being very productive.
• Sometimes there will be lot of discussion and thought but this will not result in anything that can be seen.

• Considerable emphasis is placed on the Exhibition Journal and Blog. Students will show their understanding of concepts, the process and the application of skills (e.g. problem solving) in their Journal and through their Blog
