You should gather facts about their size and appearance, their diet, their habitat and any extra interesting facts about their lifestyle. Year 1 should be aiming to collect at least 2 facts for each category. Mathematics: T.E.N Login to Seesaw and watch Mrs Blanch’s TEN video of the game ‘Salute’ for this week. Explanation: Draw 2 cards and hold one of them on your forehead without looking at it. You and your partner both look at the other card and your partner tells you the total. Work out the card on your forehead by counting on or back. *Elephants & Parrots - use cards 1-6 *Frogs and Cheetahs - use cards 1-9 *Flamingos - use all cards (except jokers)

Mathematics: Addition and Subtraction Use the worksheet (see appendix 3) or write out the questions in your workbook. You can google a virtual dice roller if you need a dice or you could get creative and use a tissue box for a dice. Complete as many questions as you can using strategies such as concrete materials to help count it out (eg dry pasta, pieces of lego etc), counting on/back from the largest number, doubles/near doubles, friends of ten/twenty reversed. Use the number line provided to assist with counting back (see appendix 4). For extra challenge also complete the number line subtraction questions (see appendix 5).

Dance Fever Multi-Sport Dance Activity 8...have fun! https://www.dancefevermultisport.com/remote-learning-1/ Science: Making Gravity Materials: Plastic cup, string, small item such as a rubber or a ball and water. Steps: 1. Make a hole near the lip of the cup wide enough to pass a piece of string through. Make an identical hole on the other side. Attach a piece of string to make a loop. You should be able to hold the cup like a basket. 2. Place a small item such as a rubber in the cup. 3. Making sure you have enough space, swing the cup around your head and see if the rubber does not fall out. 4. If you are brave enough you can try the experiment with a small amount of water in the cup. In the video below is a demonstration. If you feel like you want a challenge, complete the colour in the monster sheet (Appendix 7) and solve the calculations. Take a picture and upload the finished sheet to Seesaw. Complete as many questions as you can using strategies such as concrete materials to help count it out if needed, eg buttons, dry pasta, pieces of lego etc. Use knowledge of friends of ten and doubles, count on and mentally visualise numbers. Subtraction strategies include: counting back, backward number sequence, doubles, friends of ten/twenty reverse. Use the number line provided to assist with the worksheets (Appendix 4).

Roll the cardboard or paper into a cone shape but make sure you leave a small hole at the pointy end. 2. Place the small end near your ear and go outside. Take note of the sounds you hear. Are they louder or softer?
