The historical event held on this specific day annually and exclusive to KwaDukuza has mesmerized the town folk and people the world over for decades and decades.
The celebration on the day, known as Umkhosi WeLembe, is of utmost significance because it recognises the most influential Monarch of the Zulu nation, the late King Shaka kaSenzangakhona. He died in KwaDukuza on 24

Blythedale targeted by “silver Mercedes gang”By Xpress Reporter
A local resident's home in the Porpoise Street area of Blythedale Beach was almost burgled on Thursday, 17 September 2015 at 10:45am.
According to the person, their home is fitted with Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and sensor beams. On viewing the camera footage, faces of the intruders were not clearly visible.
“One of the men was skilled enough to reach for the cameras and turned them away,” they said.
The person whose identity remains withheld, said that security personnel, the KwaDukuza SAPS and the CCTV technician watched the footage and found that the would-be robbers used a luxury silver Mercedes with GP number plates.
They were allegedly armed.The person was luckily not at home when
the incident occurred; as footage showed “five black males” ring the doorbell and after a long pause, use a bolt cutter to get in.
When sensors picked them up inside and alarms went off, the men hightailed and sped off.
The modus operandi of the “Sliver Mercedes with GP” plates is widely covered in previous reports by many newspapers countrywide in the run up to previous festive seasons.
Targeting affluent residential areas thatare quiet and in most cases where houses are isolated. There have been allegedly two previous cases of these five in the silver Mercedes in previous months. The public is warned to be vigilant.
The Message of Eid ul AdhaFollowing in the footsteps of the Prophet
Abraham (peace be upon him), Muslims in South Africa celebrated Eid ul Adha on Thursday, 24 September 2015.
Whilst slaughtering an animal (sheep, cow, goat or camel) is one of the key characteristics of this day, Eid is also an occasion for reflection and assessment of one's life. Apart from satisfying the juristic rulings applicable to the actual sacrifice, Muslims are reminded to ponder over the lessons contained in the rites of Eid ul Adha.
The aim of the sacrificial slaughter is not merely to generate meat for consumption, rather it is meant to create a spirit of submission, selflessness, humility and realization of the temporary nature of life. Slaughterers are reminded to cause no harm whatsoever to animals, to the extent that knives may not be sharpened in view of an animal going to be slaughtered nor should an animal witness the slaughter of another.
Man must take note that he has no authority to harm the creation in any way, especially when fulfilling a religious obligation. The poor and needy have a share
in the meat of the slaughtered animal and the owner of the animal may not benefit from it financially. This serves to remove any chance of an ulterior motive creeping in to the intention of the slaughterer and reminds us of the need to lead lives built on the platforms of sincerity and selfless devotion.
Being a time for reflection, we also remember and pray for all those individuals throughout the world who have been affected by severe hardships and untold difficulties. Amongst them are the millions of Syrian refugees trying to gain some sort of security and stability for themselves and their children, the millions of human beings across the planet who don't have access to drinking water, food and education, as well as those who lost their lives in a tragic incident on 11 September 2015 where a construction crane fell through the roof of the Haram (Holy Mosque) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Tinley Manor accident claims lives

Two people tragically died while a female was seriously injured in a crash on the N2 in Tinley Manor on Saturday, 26 September 2015.
According to Chris Botha of Netcare, the vehicle hit two pedestrians and “then rolled several times, the twisted frame coming to rest on its side in the veld.”
“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that two men, both believed to be pedestrians, had tragically died due to the extensive injuries that they sustained,” said Botha.
He added that the female driver from the vehicle sustained serious injuries.
“Medics treated the female at the scene before transporting her to hospital for the care that she required.”

Thousands upon thousands of people are risking their lives every day to escape conflict, and they are crossing borders that are increasingly being shut down.
“Two weeks ago, I was in Israel and the Palestinian Territories, and as I travelled I witnessed the sense of crisis in the Middle East and across Europe. Governments are scrambling to respond to the consequences of migration. This has rapidly become a global issue. It was never just a South African issue. It was never just about the Zulu King. Our king had the courage to speak frankly as we stood on the threshold of global crisis. Although what he said was distorted. That is what a leader must do,” explained Buthelezi.

T h e M a n d e n i L o c a l M u n i c i p a l i t y ( M L M ) continues trending with its infrastructure and recreation d e v e l o p m e n t s f o r i t s residents.
A c c o r d i n g t o M L M Communications Director, Mduduzi Manzi, the R 3.4 million community park at the Sundumbili Township was successfully finished by the 'Environmental affairs Department' recently.
“The park is suitable for all ages of the community with braai facilities, ablution amenities and the park is s i t u a t e d a l o n g t h e uMsuthinja stream,” said Manzi.

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose or blood sugar levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose gets into your cells to give them energy.
With type 1 diabetes, your body does not make insulin. With Type 2 diabetes, the more common type, your body does not make or use insulin well. Without enough insulin, the glucose stays in your blood. You can also have prediabetes. This means that your blood sugar is higher than normal but not high enough to be diabetes. Prediabetes puts you at a higher risk of getting Type 2 diabetes. Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause serious problems. It can damage your eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Diabetes can also cause heart disease, stroke and even the need to remove a limb. Pregnant women can also get gestational diabetes.
A blood test can show if you have diabetes. Exercise, weight control and sticking to your meal plan can help control your diabetes. You should also check your glucose level and take medicine if prescribed.

Losing the plotHave human beings lost their
sense of humanity? This question is being asked more often lately with the sick behaviour displayed by individuals. A Lindelani mother of a 5-year-old alleges that her child complained of pains on her private part. The mother noticed an unusual swelling and took the child to hospital. After various tests the child was referred to a social worker who determined that she was sexually assaulted. The child who was too afraid to speak out confided in the social worker and informed her that she was taken into a bushy area at home and was sexually molested. Police arrested a 22-year-old car-washer who has been refused bail and will launch another request
soon.

On the second occasion Mthetwa was asked to give R35 000 in a traditional bag and this was guaranteed to multiply to R6 m. She again took a loan and paid the money to the woman. She was advised to open a new bank account for the R6m to be deposited and to purchase a new phone. This she also did. She was told to wait for three days for her fortune. As no money or phone calls were received, Mthetwa realized she had been suckered and reported to the police. P o l i c e
arrested Oliver Kibi (48) and Jessica Bukanza (25). Both Ugandan women have been remanded in custody awaiting the services of an interpreter and to seek bail.
Wrong talentSibongiseni Nxumalo alleges that
he and his girlfriend were drinking at a Shakaville tavern at about 11pm. A loca l hang-abou t approached them, kicked and stabbed Nxumalo and left the tavern. Nxumalo retaliated but his attacker summoned his friends who assaulted him further, took his jacket and cellphone, and left the premises. An unconscious Nxumalo was revived at hospital. His attacker opened a case against Nxumalo who was arrested. However, Nxumalo counter charged his attacker. On reviewing both cases, prosecutors withdrew charges against Nxumalo and charged Talent Mthembu (24) who is in custody pending a bail consideration.

The blood red colour happens when the Moon is full and passes
into Earth's shadow (also known as the umbra), which darkens it. At that point, the Moon is no longer being illuminated by the Sun. However, the red light passing through the Earth's atmosphere does reach the Moon, and is thus reflected off of it.
Since 1910 this rare celestial event occurred five times. The last time this happened was in 1982 and will again take place in the year 2033.

Nikeyi Maarbeel, the veteran runner f r o m t h e K w a D u k u z a A t h l e t i c C l u b , turned into the ripe old age of 77 when he celebrated his birthday on 20 September and his message to the public is clear: “Age is only but a n u m b e r ” , encouraging people of all ages and all walks of life to take up running as a way to remain fit.
Popularly known as the 'Iron Man' or 'Jawaan' (youngster) by his team mates and colleagues, Maarbeel has participated in many of the events ranging from the 5 and 10km runs, half marathons (21.1km), marathons (42.2km) and has even cracked the Comrades Marathon as well as the Two Oceans Marathons.
Maarbeel, at the age of 77, will now tackle the half marathon, the 21.1km event that will take place on 18 October 2015. Incidentally, this is also the birth date of his late wife. Maarbeel said that he will run this race with his heart filled with sorrow, but also with happiness with his achievements that he has since the tragic passing away of his wife. Incidentally, Maarbeel only took to the roads after his wife's death.
Maarbeel said that his club mates will be running alongside him to encourage him all the way. They are also encouraging him not to retire from races.
Maarbeel added that his decision whether to retire or not will depend on his participation in the South Coast Marathon. “If my legs can take me, then I will not retire” said Maarbeel.
KwaDukuza Vo l l eyba l l Association will host the Moon and Sons knock out tournament which gets underway tomorrow (Thursday) at the association courts. The tournament is only open to the Division I teams namely Sunbrook, Darnall United, Manor Old Boys, Frendz and Cool Leaders.
Teams will be drawn into two pools with the winner and runners up from each pool advancing to the cross over semi-final. An entrance fee of R200 must be paid prior to the

Sunbrook stun Randsons in Natdale KO
17. In the final against Randsons, man-of-
the-match Leon Ramsamy turned the game on his head when he almost single handedly took the game away from Randsons. He was ably assisted by Sumen Chetty and Nishen Govender with Lee Perumal coming to the fore in the latter part of the set. Sunbrook took the set 25-22, shocking the Randsons faithfuls. The spectators expected a Randsons fight back, which they did after finding their feet in the second set. The introduction of Sandhir Jugmohan who teamed up with Gavin Govender almost turned the game around for Randsons. Nashlin Govender and Kaylin Naidoo also combined superbly with Chezwyn Thulsiram to put points on the board. However, Sunbrook did not sit back as they challenged for every point. Sunbrook held on desperately and with Randsons numerous errors towards the end, Sunbrook held on for well-deserved 25-22 victory.
