2013 The Mid-Atlantic Parents held their annual
Welcome Aboard Picnic at the TISCOM
Coast Guard Station in Alexandria,
Virginia on Saturday 6 June 2009. We had
approximately 80 members in attendance.
Thanks to David Brune for once again
being our Grill Master, and a very special
thanks to Jim Tobin of the Alumni
Foundation for making the trip from New
York to meet and greet the new
Candidates and their families.

ALICE HUME
Another special thanks to Alice Hume (David
09) who has assisted in many ways, but
especially at the Annual Welcome Aboard
Picnic. She has been there to register and greet
new members faithfully. We hope Alice will
continue to help at the picnic even though her
son is graduating this year.

fundraising chairs. Thank you from all of us at
the Mid-Atlantic Association for taking on this
responsibility. Joe and Judy will be looking for
volunteers to help set up and man our
fundraising table at Parents Weekend, so please
consider giving an hour or two of your time. It
is YOUR Midshipman that benefits from the
money we raise at Parents Weekend.
OTHER NEWS
The Alumni Foundation and the
National Parents Association are
working together to help our
Midshipmen. Once again, this
year, the beautiful full-color
regimental and Academic
calendar will be given to the
incoming candidates’ family.
There will be a limited number of
these calendars for sale at $20
each (including shipping) or $15 if
you purchase one at Indoc. If you
would like more information
about the calendars, please visit

Acceptance Day is 12 September
2009. Parents Weekend starts
officially with Colors Friday

OPEN CLASSROOM VISITATIONS 0745 – 1600 Visits are on a space available basis. All classrooms are
open for visitations except for Physics and Chemistry laboratories. This is your opportunity to visit the
classrooms and observe the learning atmosphere your midshipman experiences. Obtain your midshipman’s
class schedule and have him/her ask the instructor if there is space for you to attend.
