FL: A warm welcome to India! What brings you here?Fatboy Slim: Thanks, I’ve been asked before but I wasn’t convinced

that there was a scene for our kind of music; I didn’t want to comeover just to play to expats. But I was informed that things were reallykicking off over here and so I thought I’d come to check you out.

FL: Tell us something you knowabout India?Fatboy Slim: It is a culturally rich country with plenty of friendlypeople.

FL: Tell us about the pseudonym you’ve adopted - “FatboySlim”.Fatboy Slim: I was always hiding behind different names so I couldhave more than one record out with more than one style of music. Theanonymity worked fine until ‘Fatboy Slim’ came along and engulfed all

the other personas and taking up all my time and creativity. Also forthe first time it was my face selling the music and now everyone knowswho I am and what I look like.

FL: Have you listened to Hindi music or Bollywood music? Ifyes, what are your thoughts about Indian music?Fatboy Slim: I must confess that we don’t get to see anyBollywood where I live.

FL: What is the future of electronic music and DJ-ing and yourthoughts on the new DJ technologies?Fatboy Slim: I think David Guetta opened a lot of doors toour music internationally but I prefer more underground stuff like hismajesty’s, DJ Andre.

FL: Lastly give our readers a sneak peek about your futureplans, labels, tours and collaborations.Fatboy Slim: At this moment in my career, I’m concentrating onDJ’ing and not really in the studio. Apart from the odd tune with the‘Rizzle Kicks’ I am a travelling Minstrel. I’ve just been playing aroundBrazil and Australia; totally cool, both professionally and personally. I just had a huge hit in the UK, producing and writing with some localkids called Rizzle Kicks. That was very satisfying.

Fusion Life wishes Fatboy Slim to have a fascinating Indianexperience on his maiden tour to this country.
