Task 8.2. : Networking with existing Euro-Mediterranean Observatories • First Observatory Networking Meeting (December 19, 2013; Paris) involving 24

participants from Euro-Mediterranean Observatories and research entities from 9 different countries

• Draft Minutes of the 1st Networking meeting (Finalized February 2014)

• Needs and Objectives are synthesized in a Draft Problem Tree (Finalized by March 2014)

Main Problems encountered : • Observatories' landscape in Mediterranean is still fragmented

• Time to implicate Observatories' in the catalogue and the survey took longer than expected.

• Objectives, means and missions of observatories are very diversified

Strategic Objective in the Second Year: • Establish sustainable collaborative links between observatories through the Core Group identified and the Next networking and indicators meeting

• Implicate the Core Group in the updating of the catalogue, typology and classification

•Start preparing modalities of cooperation and the preparation of the trends and scenarios

•Elaboration of a Digital Portal for Euro-Mediterranean Observatories

Task 8.1: Identification of Euro-Mediterranean thematic observatories Objective: provide useful, accurate and updated information of the existing Euro-Mediterranean observatories. Elaboration of a list of Euro-Mediterranean observatories (Catalogue) in relation to selected societal challenges as a useful basis for further cooperation.

Task 8.3 : Elaboration of a digital portal of EU-MED Observatories Objective: Enhancing cooperation between observatories and their visibility for end-users and decision makers Discussion of the objectives of the digital portal with end-users during the 1st Networking meeting (Paris; December, 2013) Provide visibility for Euro-Mediterranean Observatories and Catalogue to end-users, especially decision makers Follow-up in second year: -Based on Logical Framework and Problem Tree, to envision the design of the Digital Portal (main needs addressed) – in collaboration with the Observatories Core Group. (March-October, 2014) -First Design/Creation of the digital portal of observatories' descriptions/objectives/scope/data sharing modalities/collaborations - Presentation of the Portal at the 2nd Networking Meeting (November, 2014) _______________________
