Windsor Lake, North Adams General Information Windsor Lake is a 17-acre man-made pond with an average depth of 8 feet and a maximum depth of 19 feet. The water is slightly turbid and the transparency is only 6 feet. Aquatic vegetation is sparse. The shoreline is lightly developed with just a few homes as much of the lake lies within Windsor Lake Park. Recreational Access Access is provided by a paved ramp managed by the town of North Adams on the northwestern end of the lake at the dam (73° 5'43.63"W 42°41'20.08"N). The ramp is suitable for launching canoes & cartop boats. Next to the ramp is a small parking lot with space for approximately 2-3 cars. The ramp is located off Bradley Street southeast of North Adams center. Shore access is available over almost 2/3 of the Lake as all of the southern and western shoreline lies within Windsor Lake Park. During summer, recreational use of this lake is high, with swimming the most popular activity. Electric motors only, by town ordinance. Please contact the town of North Adams for additional information and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Windsor Lake. Fish Populations The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys: Largemouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, Brown Bullhead, Yellow Perch, Pumpkinseed, Black Crappie and Rock Bass. Windsor Lake is stocked with trout in both spring and fall. Fishing Windsor Lake is stocked primarily with Rainbow Trout, with occasional Brook Trout and Brown Trout, in both spring and fall. These fish represent the principal fishery here, with heavy angling pressure lasting through May. Trout hold over through the summer and the fishing picks up again in the fall and winter. Windsor Lake has Rainbow Trout and Chain Pickerel that meet minimum sizes for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
