Windsor Pond, Windsor General Information Windsor Pond is a 48 acre pond with an average depth of 21 feet and a maximum depth of 55 feet. The bottom consists of silt overlying gravel and rubble. Aquatic vegetation is scant and limited to a few scattered locations on the west end of the pond. The water is infertile and transparency is good, extending to 12 feet. The shorelines are heavily developed with seasonal and permanent homes. Recreational Access Access is provided by a paved ramp managed by the Division of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) on the eastern end of the Lake (72°58'32.58"W 42°32'15.22"N). Next to the ramp is parking lot with space for approximately 12 cars and trailers. The ramp is located off W. Main St. (Rt. 116/8A). Shore access is limited to the area adjacent to the ramp. Please contact DCR for additional information and/or restrictions pertaining to public access of Windsor Pond. Fish Populations The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys: Chain Pickerel, Brown Bullhead, Yellow Perch, Pumpkinseed, Banded Killifish, Golden Shiner, and White Sucker. Windsor Pond is stocked with trout in both spring and fall. Fishing The trout stocked each spring represent the principal fishery here, with heavy angling pressure lasting through May. Trout hold over through the summer and the fishing picks up again in the fall and winter. Yellow perch are numerous and display good growth rates, but large individuals are lacking. Pickerel are not particularly numerous, but some grow quite large. Windsor Pond has produced Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout that meet minimum sizes for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
