In 2001, hoki was the rst shery in New Zealand – and one of the rst in the world – to achieve certication by the Marine Stewardship Council, an independent international body that certies that sheries are sustainably managed. Hoki has been certied for the third successive time, with albacore tuna and southern blue whiting recently receiving MSC certication for the rst time.
