why advertise in the lancet?
The Lancet is the world’s leading independent general medical journal
and has been published weekly since 1823. The journal has an international scope
and its coverage extends across all aspects of human health.
Only ground-breaking, original, primary research papers, and review articles
of the highest standard make it through The Lancet’s stringent peer-review
process. This ensures the continuing scientific merit and clinical relevance of its
diverse content.
This blend of challenging editorials, signed commentaries, original research,
commissioned reviews, international news, and the views of readers in the
letters pages make The Lancet an essential weekly read for physicians all over
the world.
The Lancet has a dedicated career opportunities section as well as web
advertising, sponsorship opportunities and review journals which focus on
specific therapy areas such as oncology, neurology and infectious diseases.
Our readers are the most influential physicians in the world and, with an average
subscription duration of over 17 years, it is clear that The Lancet commands trust
and respect from our readers in the worldwide medical community.

sponsorship opportunities
Sponsored subscriptions to The Lancet provide a unique opportunity to
keep your target groups of clinicians updated on international medical
news and research, while promoting your current products.
Sponsored subscriptions are delivered direct to the chosen recipient on
your behalf and they provide you with exclusive promotional opportunities.
Sponsored subscriptions are available for all four journals at specially
discounted rates.
Commissioned research studies* carried out amongst physicians in receipt of a
sponsored complimentary subscription to The Lancet found that:
1 Nine out of ten receivers of The Lancet found the complimentary subscription
valuable to their practice and wished to continue receiving it.
2 Three quarters of all respondents were aware that their subscription to The
Lancet was sponsored by a pharmaceutical company. Moreover, one half also
recalled, on an unaided basis, the name of the sponsoring company.
3 Six out of ten participants remembered unaided that the cover wrap
on their issue of The Lancet displayed an advertisement for ‘Product A’.
4 97.3% of the physicians who recalled seeing ‘Product A’ on the cover wrap,
were aware of its uses and indications prior to receiving complimentary
subscription.
5 One third of the physicians who recalled seeing ‘Product A’ took one or more
favourable actions towards ‘Product A’ in response to reading its message.
These actions included prescribing the product, discussing it with a product
representative or colleague and seeking more information about the product.
