Costa Coffee launches new exclusive menu itemsKUWAIT CITY, April 2: Costa Coffee, London’s favourite coffee shop chain and part of Alghanim Industries Food and Beverage portfolio, has announced the launch of a new specialised menu that will be rolled out across its stores in Kuwait on March 13. The popular UK coffee chain is known for its handcrafted products and passion for quality coffee, all while satisfy-ing its customers with wholesome and fresh ingredients.

The new exclusive items on the menu have been created in col-laboration with the world-renowned and professional baker, author, television and radio celebrity, Dean Brettschneider, who has made a name for himself in the international

world of artisan baking via his own brand, Global Bakery. Commenting on his partnership with Costa Cof-fee, Chef Dean said, “Working with Costa Coffee was a natural fi t, they are very passionate about their cof-fee and I am very passionate about bakery-inspired food. Many of these items were sampled at the offi cial opening of Costa’s new fl agship store at Sheikha Com-plex on March 2.

Burgan Bank organizes entertaining trip for Ministry of Social Affairs orphan kids, disabled

NBK honors top performers

Burgan Bank recently organized an entertaining trip for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor’s orphaned kids and disabled, on March 19, 2016.

Sprung from the bank’s core be-lief in engaging with all segments of the society, the trip aimed at enter-taining children and handicapped to refl ect the bank’s utmost considera-tion of their happiness and wellbeing.

With the participation of Ms Hessa Al-Najadah, Senior Offi cer — Public Relations at Burgan Bank, the chil-dren were taken out for breakfast, followed by a trip to the movie theat-ers for a chance to watch one of the latest blockbusters at one of Kuwait’s most visited malls.

Burgan Bank remains fi rmly com-mitted to support the various sectors falling under the Ministry of Social Af-

fairs and Labor through the constant execution of initiatives and public programs.

Alice in Wonderland at KES

KES students visit ACK Zain strategic partner of REUSE initiative

On Monday March 28 and Tues-day March 29, 2015 Kuwait English School’s Junior Department staged an absolutely amazing production of Alice in Wonderland. The show was performed in front of 2 sell-out audiences who praised the sensa-tional acting, singing, and dancing. The show was visually outstanding with amazing scenery and costumes which added to the overall effect. The lead roles were performed by young pupils of 10 and 11 years of age. Parents, teachers and guests were astounded by their amazing ef-forts and achievements on stage. To

put on a production of this magnitude took immense dedication on the part of the Director; Ms Kristen Falcioni, the performers, musicians, assisting staff members and parents.

On both show nights, the cast were accompanied by a live band con-sisting of Senior School pupils and teachers playing alongside the Year 5/6 Junior Choir. In total, over 100 pupils and staff members worked to-gether as actors, musicians, design-ers and crew to put on this astound-ing event.

A huge congratulations is de-served by all involved.

The Australian College of Kuwait (ACK) recently hosted a group of students and teachers from the Ku-wait English School (KES) for a cam-pus tour which included visits to the School of Engineering, School of Business and the Department of Avi-ation. During the visit, students were introduced to the various programs offered at ACK, the benefi ts of learn-ing through the College’s applied and theoretical curriculum, as well as the

chance to meet with Admission and Academic staff members.

Concluding the visit, the students were then treated to a tour of ACK’s famous live Boeing 737-200 airplane at the Department of Aviation’s hang-ar.

ACK welcomes schools to visit its campus. For those parties interested, offi cial requests can be organized through the Admission & Registration department at the College.

EmbassiesVidya Lakshmi Portal: ‘Vidya Lak-shmi Portal’ has been launched on Aug 15, 2015 by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. Under this scheme, any Indian student can apply for educational loan online by browsing on www.vidyalakshmi.co.in.

The main purpose of this portal is to have facilities of education loan, scholar-ship and other student friendly facilities through one link. Students can apply from his/her home, institution, kiosk or Cyber café.

The portal is linked with “Centre for Good Governance National-e-Scholarship Portal: www.scholarship.gov.in.

Students can also apply for scholarship. Besides, a good number of student-

friendly schemes are also mentioned in the portal.

Students can apply, view and track their educational loan application to banks any-time by accessing the Portal which would be useful for students, parents, institutions, bankers, employers, researchers, etc.

2016-India Fellows Programme: As a part of the drive to India Connect Initiative, OIFC (Overseas India Facilita-tion Centre) is scheduled to launch “The India Fellows Programme” in June 2016. This is open to young Indian Diaspora entrepreneurs/professionals in decision making capacity/potential investors and international partners of Indian companies (between 21-39 years of age) who have a minimum of 3 years of entrepreneurial ex-perience. The programme is being offered at a special introductory fee of $5,000 per participant plus service tax. The fee will cover boarding, lodging, programme

related learning material, fi eld visits & webinars. The participants will have to bear the cost of travel and local convey-ance. A brief note issued by OIFC in this regard is enclosed.

Selected candidates who complete the programme shall become members of the OIFC India Entrepreneurship Fellows (OIEF) Club, will receive support and facilitation from OIFC for doing business in India.

The main objective of this scheme is to help Diaspora entrepreneurs to have an

understanding of aspects critical to gain-ing market entry, practical insights about doing business with India, idea of the legal & regulatory environment, exposure to Indian economy and an insight into the emerging opportunities of the world’s fastest growing economy. Zain, the leading telecommunica-tions company in Kuwait, announced its strategic partnership of the RE-USE environmental initiative for the sixth time. The event gathered to-gether a large number of people who participated in interactive programs and activities that aimed at raising awareness about recycling and pre-serving the environment.

Zain continued its Strategic Part-nership with REUSE in line with its Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility strategies, which aim to spread further awareness within the community to stress on the value of maintaining an environmentally friendly world.
