Discuss the purpose of the CSSK class. What lead to the creation of the course? How are students placed in the course? The course was revised a few years ago. One change was that students are now evaluated based upon their scores for Reading, Writing and Math. Depending on the scores, they may be required to take the course. The course is also open to all students who are interested.

Explain briefly how we handle the process of providing CSSK Canvas orientation at Macomb. This is the document Heather sends to the CTL to use for scheduling CSSK class visits. Representatives from the CTL visit each class to help familiarize students with Canvas and how to use it.

This is a copy of the exploration that is listed in the textbook. The CTL visit covers all of these areas and more. One area in particular is the Username and Password. When possible we like to compete the activity in a computer lab so we can make sure all of the students can log into their Canvas account.

This is the checklist that we follow when visiting the CSSK class to provide an overview of Canvas. It provides a few other areas the we discuss and demonstrate. This information indicates persistence rates for three types of students – those who were required to take CSSK and finished, those who were required but dropped the course, and those were deemed “at-risk” but didn’t take the class. The overall measurement includes grades for students who weren’t required to take the class but did anyway.
