New category

A new category for creating the glass panels was added to the Graitec PowerPack ribbon. Graitec PowerPack Ribbon on Autodesk Advance Steel 2015.1 with AutoCAD 2015:

Glass data This feature has the ability to store the profiles that will be used to insert glass panels. There are two ways of selecting the input beams:

Open the dialog window and choose from the combo box the profiles that will be used to insert the glass panels.

Select the existing profiles that will be used to insert the glass panels, and then open the “Glass Data” option.

The glass panel can be offset from the axis if necessary.

Important! It is necessary to save each profile that will be used to insert glass panels through the “Insert glass” feature.

What is new in Advance

Define panels This feature has the ability to create more layers of glass.

Choose the number and type of glass layers that compose the panel.

Insert glass This feature has the ability to create the glass panels. Before using the “Insert glass” command, the profiles must be saved from the “Glass insertion data” dialog. Otherwise, they will not be recognized and the glass panels will not be created.

By applying the command and choosing the contour profiles, the glass panels are created between the selected profiles.

Note: The profiles must form a closed contour, otherwise the panels will not be created.

Glass list A Glass list with single and multiple layers of glass can be automatically obtained using the specific command.

The glass panels should be selected before creating a Glass list

New connection type

Platform cover The platform cover connection creates plates or gratings over the selected beams.

The command requires selecting the area (created using the “Define cladding area” command) or the beams on the contour platform.

If the area is selected, a new message will appear to select the cutting beams, then the plates or gratings will be created.

If the beams on contour are selected, then the inner beams need to be selected in order to divide the plates or gratings.

The platform can have any contour shape. The gratings or plates will be created according to the platform’s border. Also, additional inner cuts can be created, by specifying the distance from the platform’s centroid.

A footbridge can be easily covered using this connection.

Curved element cut The “curved element cut” connection cuts a straight tube by a curved tube. The precision of the cut contour can be set from the dialog by choosing the number of points and the factor.

The command requires selection of the first beam which is cut at the end and then selection of the second beam which is the curved tube beam.

In addition, the “curved element cut” connection can be used to cut a plate by a curved tube. The command requires selecting the plate which is cut at the end and then select the curved tube

beam.

If the support element is a folded beam, this too will be cut by a curved tube.

Castellated / Cellular beams / Beams with openings Improvement

Castellated beam A new option was added in order to create a user-defined castellated beam.

The user can set the value for web and flange thickness, as well as the height and width of the new sections.

Catalog Manager This is a new tool used to add new catalogues for the castellated beams or the cellular beams.

As well as the sectional characteristics, the distance and the opening dimensions can be added.

The existing catalogues can be edited or saved with new names for modifications.

Plate / Grating Stiffeners Improvement

Plate / Grating stiffeners This connection creates stiffeners parallel and perpendicular to the selected edge. The stiffeners may be plates and angle sections. This improvement consists of a new section type; flat section.

The stiffeners can be created on a grating or a plate of any shape. Additionally, the plate or the grating can have inner contours and the stiffeners will split in this area.
