This is the Activity Screen. Each day the students complete an activity. The computer keeps track of activities that are finished by

marking them with a green check mark. Activities that were started but are not finished have a yellow square next to them.

Page 3: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The students click on an activity, then follow the instructions in the Instruction Window.

Page 4: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The Overview is a Multimedia Presentation. The students wear headphones and the computer reads the information to them.

Page 5: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The computer tells the students when to click the Open Journal button and answer questions about the material that was

presented.

Page 6: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

Here is question number 1 in the Electronic Journal. The students need to select the correct answer. If they do not know the answer,

they should go back and look for the answer.

Page 7: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The computer instantly tells them if they selected the correct answer.

Page 8: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The grade appears in the top left hand corner of the screen. This student now has 100%.

Page 9: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The instructions said to answer questions 1, 2 and 3. Therefore, the student then goes on to question number 2.

Page 10: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

In this example, the wrong answer was selected.

Page 11: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The students get another chance to answer the question correctly. In this case, there is only one other choice.

Page 12: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

However, the student loses points because it took two tries to get the answer correct. That is why going back to find the

correct answer is important.

Page 13: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The grade dropped to a 62% for picking the wrong answer. It will go up every time the student gets an answer correct.

Page 14: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

After the Overview is completed, the students go to the next set of instructions in the Instruction window.

You can see the grade is now an 88%. It constantly changes as the students continue to answer the questions.

The Graphic Design Student Manual is a book that provides students with directions for completing the activities. The book includes step by step instructions on what to do and how to do it.

Page 16: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

As the students proceed through the Student Manual, occasionally they will see a small picture of a computer. The computer image means that they need to open their

Electronic Journal and answer the questions.

Page 17: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The questions in the Electronic Journal come from the information that is read in the Student Manual. The

students can always go back and reread the material so that they get the correct answer.

My ID number is 1001345.

1 – 6 My locker number is 2 and my password is open.

As instructed in the Student Manual, the student must write down his or her locker number and password in the Paper

Journal on an Entry Sheet. It must be in a complete sentence and include the activity and entry number. At the end of the unit, the students will have an open book quiz using the the

papers in their Paper Journal.

*Paper Journal work is graded by the teacher.

Page 20: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The Paper Journal questions are also listed in the Electronic Journal. This is a quick reminder to the student that he or she was supposed to write something down. The computer averages in 20 points (100%) for the correct answer. The teacher must go back

and adjust the points after grading the Paper Journals.

Page 21: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

Some Electronic Journal questions are open-ended and require a written response. These questions are automatically graded as a 100% by the computer. The teacher must read the answers and adjust the grade depending on the answer. This

answer would earn 100%.

Page 22: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

These examples would not earn 100%. In the first answer the student did not explain why. The second answer is not a

complete sentence and has spelling errors. Students should always proofread their work.

Page 23: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

At the end of each Activity, the student sees a summary of his or her grades. This grade may change based on the answers to the Paper Journal and Open Ended questions. The teacher will post

the final grade for each activity on Edline.

Page 26: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The Electronic Journal has questions about the activities that the computer grades instantly. The students should

always go back and look up the answers to the questions if they are not sure which

answer is correct.

The Debit Card is used for identification, to check out library books, purchase lunch and use

the Internet. Students will lose points if they forget their debit card. If a student loses his or her debit

Page 29: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The Instruction Window has the first set of instructions for each activity. The students should start every activity by

following the instructions in the Instruction window.

Page 30: Welcome to Mrs. Reeder's room and the TechCenter21 Program

The Activity Screen lists all of the Activities and keeps track of the students progress. Green check marks indicate that the activity is finished.

If an activity has a yellow square in front of it, then it was started but not finished. The Activities

should always be completed in order.
