– Declaration of Independence, Revolutionary War, Constitution, Bill of Rights, citizenship, 3 branches of government, and the essential characteristics of American democracy
• The Competitive Market (Economics)– Allocation methods, fundamental economic questions, productive capacity,
supply, demand, price, and markets.
Language Arts
• Each day, students will engage in authentic reading and writing experiences integrated into the content areas
• Students will follow the Dublin Literacy Workshop Model
• Spelling is tailored to the needs of students
Fifth Grade Expectations• Be responsible• Be respectful• Be positive• Be safe• Be your best
Point System• Each day a student starts off with 100 points• Students keep their points by following all of the fifth
grade expectations• Students are rewarded for following expectations,
and keeping their points, by a weekly recognition in the classroom and with a drawing at fifth grade team meetings
Point System Levels• Irish Level –
– Staying on this level all week allows students the special privilege of going out on a bonus recess on Friday and a ticket in the biweekly raffle draw.
• Level Three – Green– Maintaining this level or higher all week will earn students a special treat
from our classroom “goodie bags” on Friday afternoon.• Level Two - Yellow
– If a student ends the day on yellow, a slip will be sent home to be shared with families.
– After every third yellow slip we will contact parents to discuss interventions.
• Level One - Red– If a student reaches red, parents and Mr. Wolfe will be notified.
– Extreme behaviors may move a student to red immediately.
Homework• Each night, students should expect to have up to an
hour of homework to complete• If your child is consistently requiring more than an
hour, please contact us.• For each missing assignment, a student must turn in
a “Pizza Party Coupon”. At the end of the trimester, students who retain at least one coupon in each subject area will be invited to a special trimester pizza party.
Study Center• For students desiring additional
help, a study center will be provided at recess by one of the fifth grade teachers on Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment.
• Sometimes students who need to complete work or make up tests will be assigned to study center.
