Prices for ship plates at Alang have been stable in the current week.
4th to 7th November, 2019 witnessed a cyclone Alert at Alang which kept
HSE teams of facilities on their toes to be extremely cautious with all
recycling operations.
Only now that the ship recycling community has started to show slow
yet steady interests in booking small / medium tonnages for recycling.
Imports of containerized HMS is consistently souring in this region.
Overall the iron and steel industry is sluggish but growing.
ALANG, INDIAMarkets might witness stability very soon.

Ship recyclers are not as active as what they were in the previous
months for acquiring new assets because the market conditions have
suddenly dropped.
Imports of containerized HMS continues to strongly dominate the local
market as a source of raw material.
Unlikely, ship recyclers are now asking for tonnages at a comparatively
lowered price band from cash buyers because Bangladesh is a very
price-sensitive market, recyclers here will prefer booking tonnages only
when the market conditions improve to it’s previous highs than taking
any uncertain risks.

Landing / Beaching Dates – Throughout the month.
Market participants are consistently importing containerized HMS of
foreign origin to supply the mills.
2-3 undisclosed sales have been reported in this region recently.
Imports of finished goods at a cheaper price has decreased and hence,
the ship recyclers are now willingly ready to fill in the supply gap for
mills.

FSO Cendor will be routed to Alang for green recycling activity. We anticipate that purchases here may attract some
healthy numbers in the coming months.
Market conditions for the ship recycling community haven’t upscaled much since Q3 of 2019 within the sub-
continent, especially in Bangladesh the most aggressive market of 2018.
Sources presume that Pakistani market will soon activate it’s interest for ship recycling.
