In the name of God and Jesus Christ, Edwards Church, a congregation of the United Church of Christ, welcomes all who seek to know and worship God. We invite everyone to join in our faith journey and participate in our congregational life.
As a community of faith we take seriously the Biblical call to love God and our neighbors as ourselves, and recognize that although we are many members we are one. Prayer of Confession (in unison)Merciful God, you loved us into being. You called us into the fullness of life from the beginning of time. And yet, we confess that we fail to respond fully to your gracious presence in our lives. We live with false pride. The wrong we do is made worse by the good we leave undone. We stray and fail to show love. We waste opportunities to show mercy in our relationships. We skip over moments when we could have been more thoughtful or extended a more loving heart in forgiving another. Reconcile us to you and to all people. Supporting our Immigrant NeighborsSunday, May 21, 4:30 – 6:30pm (location TBD)We are looking for 4-5 people from Edwards to attend a gathering of Framingham churches and synagogues to talk about how we can support immigrant communities in Framingham. Plant-Based Cooking Class – Smoothies That Taste Like DessertTuesday, May 23, 7:00-8:30pm in Edwards HallJoin us to learn how to eat healthier and incorporate more plant-based foods in our diets. Smoothies are a great way to start your day – giving you energy when need it most, with food that your body (and mind) will thank you for! In this class you will learn how to easily make your own fresh almond milk, plus four smoothie recipes that taste like dessert but are loaded with nutrients and energy to keep you going through morning! Outdoors in Spring: Mindfulness and Meditation on the TrailWednesday, May 24 at 6:00pm at Pod Meadow Conservation Area in WaylandEnrich your connection to the natural world and calm your spirit with Outdoors in Spring: Mindfulness and Meditation on the Trail, presented by the One Earth Collaborative and Wayland Walks. Join Rabbi Katy Allen, One Earth Collaborative Facilitator, for a springtime walk with reflective activities and guided meditations at Pod Meadow Conservation Area, Wayland. Ramadan Fast-Breaking Meal – A Celebration of Multi-faith FriendshipTuesday, June 6 at 7:30 pm in Edwards HallOpen Spirit is hosting our third annual fast-breaking meal. During this month of Ramadan (this year from May 27 through June 25th), Muslims fast each day from dawn to dusk. When the sun sets, they break their fast, often together, sharing the joy of community. The evening breaking of the fast is often called an Iftar. As an expression of interfaith friendship, and as part of our on-going efforts to build understanding about each other’s sacred traditions, Open Spirit is hosting an iftar for people of all faiths. If you are fasting for Ramadan, please come as our guest. If you are not, please bring a vegetarian dish to share. Please register at openspiritcenter.org or call the church office to RSVP.
Summer Interfaith Woodland and Wetland Adventure Week for Kids Monday-Friday, June 26-30 from 9:00am-1:00pmThis outdoor camp gives children entering grades 2-5 the opportunity to explore the wonders of woods and fields and streams in an informal way.
