Because we are much more public on Zoom and Facebook we invite people to be prudent in offering prayers: “For First name only, in need of healing”; “For First name only, comfort in grief” etc. You are invited to contact Rev. Peters directly with news of those needing extra pastoral care.

Hymn # 15 “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart” Verses 1 & 2 Prayer of Invocation and Confession Assurance of God’s Forgiving Love

God Speaks with Us Responsive Reading: Psalm 86:1-10 Congregation: Bold , Liturgist

1Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.

2Preserve my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God;

3be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all day long.

4Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

5For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.

6Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my cry of supplication.

7In the day of my trouble I call on you, for you will answer me.

8There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours.

9All the nations you have made shall come and bow down before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.

10For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God.

16Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant; save the child of your serving girl.

17Show me a sign of your favor, so that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame, because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

Old Testament (Hebrew) Scripture: Genesis 21:1-18 Abraham sends away Hagar and his son

Ishmael from his family. 21 1-4 God visited Sarah exactly as he said he would; God did to Sarah what he promised: Sarah became pregnant and gave Abraham a son in his old age, and at the very time God had set. Abraham named him Isaac. When his son was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him just as God had commanded. 5-6 Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born. Sarah said, God has blessed me with laughter and all who get the news will laugh with me! 7 She also said, Whoever would have suggested to Abraham that Sarah would one day nurse a baby! Yet here I am! I’ve given the old man a son! 8 The baby grew and was weaned. Abraham threw a big party on the day Isaac was weaned. 9-10 One day Sarah saw the son that Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham, poking fun at her son Isaac. She told Abraham, “Get rid of this slave woman and her son. No child of this slave is going to share inheritance with my son Isaac!” 11-13 The matter gave great pain to Abraham—after all, Ishmael was his son. But God spoke to Abraham, “Don’t feel badly about the boy and your maid. Do whatever Sarah tells you. Your descendants will come through Isaac. Regarding your maid’s son, be assured that I’ll also develop a great nation from him—he’s your son, too.” 14-16 Abraham got up early the next morning, got some food together and a canteen of water for Hagar, put them on her back and sent her away with the child. She wandered off into the desert of Beersheba. When the water was gone, she left the child under a shrub and went off, fifty yards or so. She said, “I can’t watch my son die.” As she sat, she broke into sobs. 17-18 Meanwhile, God heard the boy crying. The angel of God called from Heaven to Hagar, “What’s wrong, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. God has heard the boy and knows the fix he’s in. Up now; go get the boy. Hold him tight. I’m going to make of him a great nation.”

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Offering

Work Projects around the Church Buildings and Grounds We are grateful to those who have been helping out around the Church buildings and grounds in these days. We are not going to be able to have a Work Day this spring, so we have listed the jobs on the Church’s Home page with a sign up. We are grateful for the projects begun: Raking out and mulching of the front gardens, planting of the side gardens, and the priming and painting of the handicap ramp. (we need painters)
