GrammarSubject- Verb Agreement (tested skill)

In a sentence that tells about now, singular subjects use a verb that ends in -s. The student sits in the classroom. In a sentence that tells about now, plural subjects use a verb without the -s. The students sit in the classroom.

In a sentence that tells about now, add -es to a verb that ends in -s, -sh, -ch, -tch, -z, or -x to match a singular subject. The trucks pass by. The truck passes by. Parents watch the game. A parent watches the game. The workers mix cement. The worker mixes cement.

Abbreviationa short way to write a word by taking out some of the letters and writing a period at the end. Abbreviations for proper nouns begin with a capital letter. (Mr. Mrs., Dec., Jan. Mon., Tues, St. Dr.)
