Why is it that so many people, especially American's have no concept of what wealth REALL Y means?!! It has absolutely NOTHING to do with how much money you are earning or how much of a single currency or multiple currency you can earn. A currency can be devalued overnight, quite literally!! So I am amazed that people STILL seem to have a very blinkered concept as to what wealth is all about. I've seen so many people make the mistake of stating that wealth creation is about earning 6 figure incomes,.....COMPLETE and UTTER TW ADDLE!!!!!! It has NOTHING to do with that A T ALL,...NOTHING!! Here's an example, if you have a bu siness which is earning you say $1 million dollars a year and suddenly the value of the dollar is halved overnight,...you no longer have a $1 million dollar business. That's not rocket science!!! So why do so many people keep saying 'oh I'm gonna build a multi million pound or dollar business',...Really ,...Good Luck then I say to them. Because that's something I'm certainly NOT doing myself and NOT going to focus on because A NY currency can go Down as well as Up, and especially in the current global cli mate we are in. Surely , Wealth is about the ability to create 'Freedom', i.e. freedom to slowly but surely be able to work when you want to work and how you want to work the longer you work for in your life. As an example, people like Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis, Duncan Banatyne, Lord Sugar, Richard Branson, all whom are multi-millionaires, and COULD if they wanted to stop working to morrow and retire. But do they and have they,.....NO, they haven't. They ALL still work very very hard even though they have created very wealthy business's around them. And THAT is the key!!! Wealth creation is NOT about what sort of income you can generate within a single or multiple currency , it's about how far you can go without having to worry about paying the bills and taxes that we all have to pay , where ever we are. i.e. it doesn't matter whether we live in the UK, America, Australia, New Zealand, or Russia,...we still have to pay a mortgage, still have to pay taxes, and still have to pay someone to supply our basic utilities for us. And therefore, the more wealth we have, the more time OFF we can take without having to worry about paying for those things. Thus, wealth creation IS not about how many zero's there are after the 'one' on the cheque we receive. It's about how far we can go without worrying about where the money is going to come from to pay the bills we have to pay . It's also about having the fr eedom to work How you want, When you want and for how Long you want to. i.e. having the freedom to work j ust 3 months if you really want to and then taking a month off. THAT'S what having wealth is about,...not how much of a currency is in the bank, but how far you can go without having to work before you must start working again. © Neil R. Burns 2010
