Adrian’s Story

Adrian John Brehaut was born at Dandenong Hospital on 21st August, 1995 to his mother Julie and he had two older brothers Nicholas and Leigh. The family lived in Narre Warren North for a very short time after Adrian was born, and then moved to Clyde North. From there the family moved to Cranbourne West and finally to their current home in Cranbourne North. Adrian’s younger brother Thomas was welcomed into the family which was then made complete with the arrival of Adrian’s baby sister Hannah.

At five years of age Adrian attended kindergarten in Clarendon Street, Cranbourne. He went to Cranbourne Park Primary School and in 2002 moved to Courtney Gardens Primary School in Cranbourne North. Adrian made many friends during his primary school years and then went on to Lyndhurst Secondary College where he completed Year 12 in 2013 – again making many friends.

He was an excellent athlete with a love of many sports. He excelled in football, playing juniors and seniors with Cranbourne, then with the Lyndhurst Football Club and during the time he played footy, he received many awards and accolades for his strong commitment and football abilities during the games, including Best and Fairest on several occasions. To say Adrian was competitive is perhaps an understatement and I am sure that many of you will have witnessed his sometimes aggressive approach to a game and his desperate attempt to ensure a win for the team!

One of Adrian’s proudest times whilst playing football was when his team – the under 15’s won the Premiership - he was so excited. Adrian was good at any ‘ball games’ – football as we have heard, but he also was very good and took a real interest in Softball, Basketball, Tennis, Golf – just to name a few and with each sport his competitiveness never went unnoticed.

Adrian actually loved school, he loved the social side of school, his friends – they were most important to him. He certainly didn’t attend school for the academic side of his education, he just did what he needed to do to get through. There’s no doubt that if he had actually applied himself all the time, instead of just when it suited him – well his life opportunities would have been endless.

In the AFL he was a passionate, one eyed Collingwood supporter but a man who always wore his heart on his sleeve. He left no one wondering what he thought, so I guess as far as the Magpies go, he would not have been too happy with their last game!

Adrian also enjoyed playing sports games on his phone, such as 8 Ball Pool, Golf Clash, Words With Friends, Clash of Clans and many others – he was quite a regular on social media, particularly Facebook and Snap Chat.

After leaving school Adrian took a ‘Gap Year’ and it was during this time, 2014 that he met a very beautiful young lady named Monika. They started going out together, became a couple and their friendship soon turned to love and they were both blessed with the arrival of their precious and beautiful little boy, Carter Jackson Brehaut. Adrian and Monika adored their son and would do anything for him.

There’s no doubt that Monika and all her family adored Adrian and are hurting deeply at this sad time, especially for Carter who’s proud and loving dad will never see him grow up - it’s really heartbreaking and to all of you, Monika’s family we also offer our condolences.

After a period of time Adrian and Monika decided to go their separate ways and there’s no doubt Adrian loved Carter with all his heart and longed for the cherished times he could spend with his son. Adrian and Monika were perfect parents, whose number one responsibility was their son Carter. Their shared parenting positively, providing Carter with a safe and secure childhood, where he felt totally loved by both parents and I am sure that Carter will always know who his daddy was as he grows up and hears stories about a man so full of life who loved his son with all his heart.

During Adrian’s ‘Gap Year’ he worked for a while as a casual at the Aquarium just down the road from this chapel. On weekends he often worked at the market gardens but his most fulfilling time of employment was when he started to work in flooring with Andrew, who set up his apprenticeship at Asset Flooring Group. Adrian worked there until Covid devastated many businesses and with that he decided to start up his own business as a sole trader. In recent times he has been working for Chris, a man that Adrian greatly admired.

Chris was not only his boss but he and his family were Adrian’s dear friends. Adrian thought of Chris as a ‘big brother’ and he spent a great deal of time with Chris, Sarah and their children.

Adrian was in his element when he was outdoors, camping with ‘The Boys’. He was great fun to be with, had a larger than life personality, an infectious laugh, a sparkle in his eyes and a magnificent smile that will never be forgotten. There’s no doubt that Adrian was the type of person you wanted to have as a friend, you wanted to be around him, he had a positive influence on everyone fortunate enough to be called his friend. He touched so many people’s lives in so many ways, he influenced others by his kindness and generosity of spirit, he was quietly reassuring, but was firm in his personal values and these are wonderful traits for any one to have.

The tragic accident which took Adrian’s life - sadly was just that – a tragic accident and in the thoughts of Adrian’s family is his close friend and work colleague, Jamaica, who was in the car with Adrian. All of Adrian’s family are so grateful that Jamaica survived the accident and they sincerely wish him a speedy and full recovery both physically and mentally.

So…sadly on Saturday, 3rd October, 2020 the life of a man who had so much living to do came to an end and the lives of his family and friends were shattered as this sad news filtered through. Those of you who loved Adrian will always have amazing memories of times spent with an extraordinary man.

I’m Every Place

Don’t mourn for meI’m still here though you can’t see.

I’m right by your side, each night and dayAnd within your hearts I will always stay.

Although my body is gone, I’m always nearI’m everything you feel, see or hear.My spirit is free but I’ll never depart

As long as you keep me, alive in your hearts.

I’ll never wander out of your sightI’m the brightest star that shines at night.

I’ll be the colourful leaves when Autumn comes ‘roundAnd the pure white snow that blankets the ground.

I’m the hot salty tears that flow when you weepAnd the beautiful dreams that come when you sleepI’m the smile that you’ll see on a young man’s face

Just look and you’ll see – I’m every place!
