ProfileCurrently a freelance designer working fulltime for PlayStation Technical Support with an Honours Degree (BSc Hons) in Digital Media and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Illustration and Visual Communications. My skill strengths are focused in graphic design, 2D and 3D illustration including 2D to 3D conversion, motion graphics and animation.
Education and Qualifications
2011 – 2013 - Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons) in Digital Media at Edinburgh Napier University.
2009 – 2011 - HNC / HND in Graphic Design and Illustration at Borders College.
Focusing on graphic design and traditional illustration I learned about art styles, genres and its history, Colour theory, typography and visual layout along with basic skills in traditional illustration focusing mainly on pencil sketching and water color painting as media of exploration.
Learning about the theories and practical implementation of motion graphics, graphic design, product design, 3D illustration, 2D illustration and animation using a variety of software programs. Skills used in the film, video game and marketing industries.
Relevant Experience
North Edinburgh and Inverleith Connections Directory - Creating an advertisement for Taylors Physiotherapy and an editorial page for MacKenzies Restaurant.
The Picture House - Creating a 12 days of Christmas giveaway advertising campaign online which included one main advertisement and several advertisements for each giveaway in the campaign.

Having worked for hotels and call centers although not visually stimulating jobs it did give me experience in people interaction, etiquette and customer service.
I was also involved in The Picture House Edinburgh’s public relations team which taught me first hand how important marketing is for creating awareness that otherwise would go unnoticed and how to capture peoples attention and how to find your target market.
Qualities
Teamwork: Having done group projects at university and college I have learned how to work in a team and assume my duties and given role within the team and if needed help other team members and to seek out help and advice myself and communicate to successfully collaborate ideas.
Initiative: I am very capable of following orders but is also very able to take leadership and follow my own initiative if required. Having worked on many private projects and commissions at university and as a freelancer I’m very capable of making my own decisions and execute them with success.
Dedication: My dedication to the creative industries is unquestionable. Having given up a lot of my personal and financial life to go into further education for 4 years to get the qualifications I needed to become the person I’ve always wanted to be. Being an illustrator and designer has been my dream ever since I was around 12 years old and I will stop at nothing to make it happen and do it well. When I have a commission I will find myself not letting go of it until it is successfully completed to my liking and the liking of the client. Deadlines are something I take extremely serious as I will also find myself working many hours overtime to get the job done on time with maximum success.
Achievement
Edinburgh Napier University School of Computing awarded me with the Runner - Up 2nd place prize for the best honours project poster and presentation on the 17th of April 2013. An event where all cre-ative computing 4th year students had to present their honours projects to lecturers, fellow students, general members of the public and some members of the creative industries some of whom formed part of a judging panel.
I have an enormous passion for creation and design and my commitment to the creative industries is without question. Looking at what you have to offer I feel I can work with you and if you give me an opportunity I will give you my very best.
Interests
Creation is my greatest interest, making something out of nothing is one of the most satisfying feelings I have ever experienced and I enjoy making 2D and 3D digital illustrations in my free time.
Watching films mostly set in a past, future and / or fictional setting and looking at it stylistically in terms of backdrop and colour usage, prop designs, vehicle and fashion designs, set extensions for example architecture and layout is something I enjoy very much as it helps to fuel my creativity. I have a keen interest for observing sci fi and fantasy creations not only in films but in video games and graphic novels as well.
