새로운 영화적 체험을 가져다 줄 VR 시네마의 오늘을 만나본다.Virtual reality technology merged into film will expand your horizon with an eye-open experience!Come and witness VR Cinema’s leading edge for a new cinematic experience.

Virtual reality Cinema, one of the new trends of 21C movies, receives huge, global attention from cinephiles and film professionals. Exploring wonders and potentials of VR cinema, Busan International Film Festival and Barunson Co. Inc., Korean VR industry leader, co-host the biggest Asian VR event, ‘VR Cinema in BIFF’. ‘VR Cinema in BIFF’ includes ‘VR Theater’, a screening program for the audience, and ‘VR Conference”, for film creators and industry professionals. ‘VR Theater’ will screen about 30 films, from narrative fictions, documentaries, animations, to interactive titles, for all the audience. Theaters exclusive for VR Cinema, located in BIFF Hill ground floor, will show VR titles of various genres like 360 degrees, interactive, and experiential VR, etc. in one place, showcasing futuristic VR theater.

올해 아시아 최대의 VR 시네마 행사인 ‘VR 시네마 in BIFF’를 함께 선보인다.

‘VR 시네마 in BIFF’는 관객 대상 상영 프로그램인 ‘VR 씨어터’와

영화 창작자 및 산업 종사자들을 위한 행사인 ‘VR 컨퍼런스’로 구성된다.

이 중 모든 관객들이 참여할 수 있는 ‘VR 씨어터’는 극영화, 다큐멘터리,

애니메이션, 인터랙티브 타이틀에 이르는 전 세계 약 30편의 화제작을 상영한다.

영화의 전당 BIFF HILL 1층에 마련되는 VR 시네마 전용관은 360도,

인터액티브, 체험 VR 등 다양한 장르의 VR 타이틀을 한 번에

만나볼 수 있는 미래형 VR 극장의 모습을 보여줄 것이다.

Bohwagak, which means ‘House of Brilliant Treasures’, is the old name of Kansong Art Museum, founded by Kansong Chun Hyungpil in 1938. The work shown reinvents Bohwagak through virtual reality and the audience may virtually experience the place.

Freedom from frames: Using 360 degree environment, VR cinema can be viewed in various ways. Some of it can be seen from a variety of POV that the audience choose themselves.Physical space embodied with sounds: VR cinema puts audience in the sound field as originally intended. This can create a new style of directing by inducing audience to see where the sound is heard. Active viewing: VR cinema allows audience to look around in different angles, feel the elements inside the cinema and even operate them.

모바일 VR 헤드셋 Mobile VR Headset헤드셋에 휴대폰을 꽂아서 사용하는 형태이다. 선이 없고, 가격도 저렴하여 널리 퍼

져있는 형태입니다.

This is a headset with a mobile phone mounted. It is wireless, cheap and vastly in use in general.

Gear VR

Gear VR은 기기는 한국의 삼성전자가, 플랫폼과 소프트웨어는 미국의 Oculus사가 담

당하는 기기입니다. 갤럭시 노트 5와 갤럭시 S6 혹은 이후의 시리즈 제품이 있어야 작

동합니다. 머리의 회전만을 인식하여 제자리에 앉아서 감상하는 것이 권장되며, 급격

한 시점의 움직임이 있는 경우 멀미를 느낄 수 있음으로 주의를 요합니다.

The hardware of Gear VR is made by Samsung in Korea and its software and platform are handled by Oculus in the US. It works with Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 or higher editions. It is recommended that the user sits still while feeling the movements of the head. Sudden movements can cause dizziness.

PC VR 헤드셋 PC VR HeadsetPC와 연결되어 작동하는 형태입니다. 가격이 상대적으로 비싸고, 유선방식으로 불

편함이 있으나, 최고의 감상환경을 제공하며, 위치인식을 통해 시점을 자유로이 옮

길 수 있습니다.

This is a headset connected to PC. It is comparatively expensive and has to be wired. But it provides the best VR environment and enables you to enjoy a wide space tracking.

Oculus Rift CV1

Oculus Rift CV1은 기기제조와 플랫폼 및 소프트웨어 개발을 Oculus사 한곳에서 담당

하고 있습니다. 제조사 스스로 콘텐츠 생태계 조성을 위해 많은 힘을 써왔으며, 덕분에

양질의 영화 콘텐츠들을 많이 만나볼 수 있는 기기이기도 합니다. 본디 책상 앞에 앉

아서 사용하는 것을 전제로 개발되어 넓은 공간을 필요로 하지 않고, 필요 시에만 센

서와 컨트롤러를 추가하여 활용할 공간을 넓히는 것이 가능합니다.

Oculus Rift CV1 is made by Oculus covering all the process from hardware manufacturing to platform and software development. Oculus has been dedicating to constructing content ecosystem by itself and thus enables the user to have an access to various quality film contents. It is designed to be used at the user’s desk allowing the user to enjoy VR in a comparatively small space. When necessary, however, the user can extend the space by adding sensors and controllers.

VR is a virtual reality technology that utilizes headsets and other immersive devices. In VR environment, users can take a look at the world of virtual reality through headsets and go further to experience it with additional supporting devices such as a controller. A few things you want to know about VR cinema


Gear VR

➊ 좌우의 스트랩을 떼낸 뒤 헤드셋을 시점에 맞게 위치하고 지지대를 조인 후 고정합니다.

➋ 초점이 정확히 잡힐 때 까지 헤드셋 위의 조절기를 좌우로 돌립니다.

➌ 터치패드를 통하여 드래그(끌기)로 방향을 조절하여 터치를 통해 선택합니다.

➍ 볼륨키를 통해 음향을 조절합니다.

➊ Loosen the straps on each side of the headset and place the headset onto your head. Adjust the headset and tighten the straps.

➋ Adjust the focus by scrolling the wheel on the top forwards and backwards. ➌ Swipe across the touch pad to move to different menus and tap it to select an item➍ Adjust the volume by using the volume key on the side.

▶ VR헤드셋은 머리에 직접 착용하는 관계로 위생문제가 발생할 수 있어 관람 전 안

내 요원으로부터 마스크를 받아서 착용한 후 감상해야 합니다.

In order to provide the best hygienic environment for VR headsets, it is recommended that users wear masks before they put on headsets. Masks are provided by the assisting staffs.

▶ 각 VR 헤드셋은 초점을 맞추는 방식이 다르기 때문에 관련 내용을 확인하고 최

적의 관람을 위해 가이드에 따라 자신의 몸에 꼭 맞추어 착용한 후 감상하는 것

이 좋습니다.

Since each headset has a different way of adjusting the focus, please check the information from assisting staff first and find the best fit for you before you start experiencing VR.

▶ 작품리스트에는 각 작품 별로 멀미유발도가 표기되어 있습니다. VR 영상의 경험

이 적거나 차량/선박 등에서 멀미를 쉽게 느끼는 경우 멀미유발도가 낮은 작품부

터 감상할 것을 권장합니다.

Every film is graded with the level of possible dizziness. VR beginners and those who have frequent carsickness or seasickness are recommended that they start with low level films.

▶ 30분 감상에 최소 15분의 휴식시간을 권장합니다. 감상을 마치신 후에는 충분한 휴

식을 취하고 수분을 섭취하는 것이 좋습니다.

It is recommended that users take a break for 15 minutes or longer every 30 minutes of VR experience. After VR experience is finished, please take enough rest and keep yourself hydrated.

드셋 안에 넣은 채로 착용하여 감상하시는 게 좋습니다.

If you wear glasses, try adjusting the focus without the glasses first. However, if you still experience unclear vision, put on the headset over your glasses.

▶ 화면에 김이 낄 경우 코를 통한 호흡을 자제하고 입으로 정면을 향해 호흡해 주세요.

If your glasses steam up, refrain from breathing through your nose and try breathing with your mouth.
