VISUAL ART: Week 7: Learning Intention: Use different techniques to imitate aging and wear. Success Criterion: Create a realistic looking treasure map.

Treasure Map

Materials:

• ½ Cup of Cold Coffee or Tea. • Paper • Markers / Texters • Hair Dryer (optional)

Directions: 1. Rip strips off the edges of your paper, make sure that it’s rough and not too neat. 2. Scrunch up the paper into a ball as tightly as you can 3. Unwrap the paper and flatten it back out 4. Put the paper in a cooking tray or on a plate 5. Pour the tea or coffee over the paper and swoosh it around using your hands so it

covers everything 6. Leave it to sit for 2 to 5 minutes. The longer you leave it, the darker it will get 7. Pour out the Tea or Coffee into the sink 8. Dry off the paper using the hairdryer or leave it to dry for a couple of hours 9. Use the marker to draw a big X somewhere on your map and a long winding trail of

dashes -------- leading to the X 10. Now add obstacles along the path to the treasure and extra details to your map.

Here are some examples, but get creative think of some of your own:

• Waterfalls of Doom • Serpent Pass • Skeleton Jungle • Loot Lake • Monster Rock • Slurpy Swamp

Did you Know - If you do not have Tea or Coffee you can mix up some dirt from outside with half a cup of water to create a muddy dye for your map!

VISUAL ART: Week 9: Learning Intention: Copy a drawing symmetrically both using a grid and not using a grid. Success Criterion: Complete the two drawings as symmetrically as possible

Symmetrical Drawing

Materials:

• Lead pencil • Coloured Pastels / Crayons / Pencils / Texters / Markers / paint

Directions: 1. Fill in the missing half of the owl below.

2. Try to make it as similar as possible to the left half, using the grid as a reference.

3. Once finished, colour your owl and give it a name.

4. Now try copying the missing half of Mario.

5. There is no grid for this second picture so you will really need to take your time to

make sure that both sides are the same.

6. Colour in Mario and say “It’s a me, Mario!”

VISUAL ART: Week 10: Learning Intention: Use recycled objects to create artwork Success Criterion: Create a Cherry Blossom painting using the “stamp” technique.

Plastic Bottle Cherry Blossoms

Materials: • Paint brush (or your finger) • Paint (or Texters) • Paper plate or another flat container • Paper • Plastic bottle (Soft Drink or sparkling water)

Directions: 1. Start by painting a branch using black or

another dark coloured paint.

2. Paint long lines of paint with smaller lines coming off of them. These look even better if they’re not straight.

3. Let the paint dry.

4. Put some coloured paint onto your plate. Cherry Blossoms are light pink but you can use another colour if you would like.

5. Dip the bottom of your bottle into the paint

and then “stamp” it onto your paper around the branch. Make sure to dip the bottle back into the paint after each stamp so that there is lots of paint.

6. Add as many Cherry Blossoms to you branch

as you would like.
