To take part in the Global Challenge, your employees must register in teams of 7 via a Team Registration portal

customised specifically for your business. Being part of a team ensures that employees feel supported and enjoy

a sense of friendly competition and accountability to their colleagues. The Global Challenge communication

material raises awareness and creates a buzz in the workplace to drive the best uptake, not to mention

excitement. See page 9 for more information.

Each participating employee will receive their very own Pulse activity tracker – these are delivered directly

to your Team Captains, or to one central point (whichever you prefer). This simple-to-use device is all your

employees need to take part in the Global Challenge. Employees can also use their own fitness trackers,

including Apple Health Kit (Apple Watch), Fitbit and Garmin devices. See page 12 for more information.

Once employees register, we’re here to help support them on their journey. Communication to members

starts in the lead-up to launch day to build excitement, introduce them to the program, and on-board them

in order to personalise the program and understand their starting point. See page 13 for more information.

Your employees’ 100 Day Journey towards a happier, healthier life starts. Kick-off with some internal

communication around the office. See Launch Day ideas for more information.

DAY 1 Launch Day

Employees track their physical activity (steps, cycling and swimming) and work towards a daily target

of 10,000 steps. Each step adds to their team’s progress on their virtual journey, unlocking new locations

and building awareness of their activity levels and how to improve. They’ll quickly learn that it all adds

up to help create a happier, healthier version of themselves.

DAY 2 Tracking physical activity - step entry opens

Just as the Global Challenge’s physical activity component strengthens the body, the psychological wellbeing

module strengthens the mind. By building a positive mindset, employees can learn how to better cope with

stressful situations and become more resilient.

Sleep helps employees measure and understand their sleep patterns and how it can affect their mood, stress

levels, productivity and focus. By measuring the quality and quantity of sleep, and discovering practical tips

on how to improve it, Sleep will have employees bouncing out of bed, ready to tackle each day head on.

DAY 43 Balance launches

DAY 57 Sleep launches

As the 100 Day Journey draws to a close, your employees realise the Global Challenge was never about

beating everyone else, it was about beating the ‘old’ them. Now’s the time to celebrate their achievements

and commitment during the last 100 days with some internal communication.

See end of event celebrations resources – available on the Team Management site in the final stage.

DAY 100 Day 100 - let’s celebrate

Beyond the 100 Day Journey, as part of their 12-month access, employees can continue to check in with the

Global Challenge platform. They can still access their favourite features via the website or mobile app to help

maintain and track their new healthy habits. See page 22 for more information.

After the 100 Day Journey has ended, Flexible Challenges give your employees the opportunity to reinforce

their healthy behaviours and continue to develop stronger habits. There are 3 challenges that you can run

at a time that suits your organisation. See page 22 for more information.

Nutrition incorporates a suite of scientifically developed tools including an innovative food calculator,

a weekly online weight tracker and tailored nutrition advice. The tools combine to positively change

employees’ relationships with food to achieve healthy, sustainable weight goals.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Your Account Manager will provide a more detailed presentation on Team Registration and invoicing for you.

Once teams have been built, as a final check, you’ll need

to confirm them in your Team Management site before

employees can get started (unless you’ve selected the

team payment option). This ensures you know who’s

signing up from which parts of your organisation, as

well as helping you monitor sign-up numbers.

Once you’ve confirmed your teams, registered

employees will receive an activation email and their

Starter Kit will be sent out. This will also generate your

invoice. When you registered for the Global Challenge

you would have selected one of three invoicing and

payment options:

Invoice payments can be made online via credit card or direct transfer as per the invoice terms. Invoices can only be

generated for two or more teams upon confirmation. If you’re not sure of your set up, please contact your Account Manager.

¢ ORGANISATION PAYMENTIf you selected to pay for your organisation as a whole, once you confirm your teams, your invoice will be generated

via the Team Management site. Invoices will only be generated for organisations with two or more teams. (If you need a

manual invoice to be generated on your final number of teams, please contact your Account Manager).

¢ AREA PAYMENTIf you selected to pay for each area separately, Area Managers will need to confirm teams in their area. An invoice

for teams in their area only will then be generated via the Team Management site.

¢ TEAM PAYMENTIf you selected for each team to pay individually, this will be done at the time of team registration. On registering their

team, Team Captains will be directed to a payment screen where they will be required to pay by credit card.

FAQSGot a question? You’ll find the answer via our extensive FAQs at gcvp.co/faqs

¢ WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TEAMS HAVE REGISTERED?Once your employees have formed teams of 7 and

are confirmed via the Team Management website,

they receive a welcome email, complete with a unique

activation link and log-in information. In the lead up

to Day 1, your employees will receive their Pulse,

which they wear every day to track their activity.

¢ MY EMPLOYEES ARE NOT RECEIVING EMAILSIf both you and your employees are not receiving

emails, it’s likely that your organisation has not

implemented our optimal IT system requirements.

See page 25 for full details.

¢ CAN I RESEND WELCOME EMAILS?Yes – select ‘Resend welcome email’ on the Manage

Teams page: globalchallenge.virginpulse.com/manage

It’s important to check that the correct email

address has been provided before resending the

welcome email.

¢ WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?Organisation Managers need to confirm teams

via the Team Management site:

globalchallenge.virginpulse.com/manage

Teams can be confirmed through online credit card

payment, or by generating an invoice that will be

due within 14 days of the invoice date. All payment

instructions can be found on the invoice. Team places

are not confirmed until you pay by credit card or

generate an invoice.

23 © Virgin Pulse 2016 • globalchallenge.virginpulse.com

¢ CAN CHANGES BE MADE TO TEAMS AFTER REGISTRATION?

Yes – Organisation and Area Managers, as well as Team

Captains, can change members’ details and replace

members if necessary. This can be done by accessing

‘Manage Teams’ on the Team Management site:

globalchallenge.virginpulse.com/manage

¢ CAN EMPLOYEES IN DIFFERENT OFFICES, REGIONS AND STATES TAKE PART?

Absolutely – anyone in the world can take part in the

Global Challenge. They just need internet access. In

fact, that’s one of the benefits of the Global Challenge

– you don’t need to even work in the same hemisphere

as teammates. If you have team members in different

offices, the Team Captain will need to forward individual

Starter Kits to team members when the team Starter

Kit arrives.

¢ WHAT HAPPENS IF A TEAM DOESN’T HAVE 7 PARTICIPANTS?

The Global Challenge can only accept teams of 7.

If someone pulls out, that team member will need

to be replaced via the Team Management site so the

team is not disadvantaged. The replacement will ‘inherit’

any steps entered by the previous member prior to

the change.

¢ HOW DO I SYNC MY STEPS USING MY PULSE?Your Pulse uses your smartphone to sync your daily

steps to the mobile app. To sync your steps, you need

to ‘pair’ the Pulse to your smartphone and upload your

daily activity. To find out how, visit: gcvp.co/pulsepairing

Remember that Step Entry opens on Day 2 of the 100

Day Journey.

¢ CAN I USE MY OWN WEARABLE DEVICE OR FITNESS TRACKER?

Although the Pulse remains the preferred choice for

many Global Challengers, there are those who prefer

to use their own wearable device or fitness tracker.

Our award-winning site accepts step and sleep data

from a variety of third-party wearable devices and

fitness trackers including Fitbit, Jawbone, Garmin, Misfit,

Apple Health Kit (Apple Watch) and Microsoft Health

(Microsoft Band). For a full list of devices visit:

gcvp.co/devices

As well as the devices which you can sync automatically,

the below devices have been tested for accuracy against

the Pulse and you can enter daily steps recorded on

these devices manually:

• LifeTrak: Zone C410, Move C300, Core C200

• Withings: Pulse

• Striiv: Smart, Play

• Omron: HJA-300-EK, HJA-300-EY

SUPPORTED BROWSERSAll members will require a web browser to access the

site. The site is optimised for the latest major releases

of the following browsers on a rolling basis:

• Google Chrome

• Firefox

• Safari (Mac and Windows)

• Internet Explorer

We ensure compatibility with older versions of Internet

Explorer, which we support down to IE7. We no longer

support IE6. We don’t test other browsers, such

as Opera, SeaMonkey, Konqueror, etc., nor can we

guarantee site performance or user experience with

older versions of other browsers (e.g., older versions

of Firefox, Safari and Chrome). Because of the differences

in behaviour and support offered by each browser, you

may find page layouts or minor functional differences

when using the site in different browsers.

MULTIMEDIA (AUDIO & VIDEO)HTML5 video and audio players are now used for

multimedia content on Virgin Pulse Global Challenge
