Summer Blast Camp Supplies NeededOur Research and Development Department at SpaceCamp 2011 is in need of robotic construction materi-als. In other words, they need unusual, odd shaped, clean, recycled items to build robots. So go throughthose recyclable bins, and pick out those spray bottlehandles, caps, rolls, Yoplait yogurt tubs, egg cartons, anything twisty, curvy, springy, clean foil, any otherweird and interesting items, and lots and lots of cerealboxes, empty and flattened. It’s a dirty job, buy some-body’s gotta do it. So start collecting and drop off inthe tubs in front of Children’s Ministry Office

Anniversaries in June

My cat and I have a routine. Whenever I come home, she greets me at the door with her "kitty stretch," thenproceeds to the treat box to wait for the treats sheknows will be forthcoming. She then "escorts" medown the hall, and climbs in the bathtub so she canget her drink. For some reason, she's decided sheprefers the water that settles by the bathtub drain, even though she has perfectly good clean fresh waterin her bowl. Of course, I oblige her by splashing somewater into the tub whenever I pass by (who's gotWHO trained, I wonder?). Sometimes, when I haven'tseen her in a while, I go looking, and will find her sit-ting in the bathtub, just staring at the faucet, as if will-ing it to drip out its goodness. This makes me chuck-le. Does she think that by staring at the faucet, it willgive her what she wants? (Hmmm....I guess maybe itDOES work - she looks so cute I simply MUST giveher that water...).

I have to wonder sometimes, like my kitty with thefaucet, is my attention or desire focused on the "dis-penser" of blessings or on the blessing itself insteadof on the One who has the power to produce theblessing? Is my focus on the gift, or the Giver? Who(or what) am I looking at to bring me fulfillment?Something worth thinking about, especially when itseems the well is running dry or becoming stagnant. Areminder to look to the Source of all that I need, whosatisfies my desires with "good things."

"I will bless them...I will send down showers in sea-son; there will be showers of blessing...<the people>will know that I am the LORD..." (Ezekiel 34:26-27)

A New Bundle of Blessing

Jonathan George Urman born onMay 9, 2011 to Jared & MelissaUrman. Jonathan weighed 7#5oz

It seemed practical this month to introduce you toour youth pastor candidate. He and his family willbe here over Memorial Day weekend, with aCongregational Meeting to decide on hiring onJune 5th. By way of background, the search com-mittee consisted of over a dozen church members, including a mix of youth leaders, pastors, boardmembers, teens/twenty-somethings, and a coupleof spouses for good measure. The committeereviewed 170 inquiries, resumes, videos, and hadmany phone interviews of prospects. These werefollowed by several group phone interviews.Eventually we had one couple come up for a prettylow key weekend meet-and-greet. The benefit ofthis approach is to avoid the stress of a "candidate"visit. If the potential candidate didn't like theSunday worship experience at Walloon for exam-ple, it would be a waste of time for all concerned. Ineed to give you some background to where we'vebeen before chatting about where we are going. The Board and I thank you for your patience dur-ing this candidacy process.

Jason (Yes, we could have another "Pastor Jason")and his wife Laura Loewen are currently living inBolingbrook, ILL, a Chicago suburb. Jason is agraduate of Moody Bible, with a bachelor of arts inBiblical Studies. While at Moody he interned atGrace Church of DuPage from 2005-2007 as a Jr.High pastor, and led a group of Sr. High students tothe Czech republic. Before that, he was with YoungLife in Texas in 2003-2004. Since August of 2007he has been the Youth Pastor for New SongChurch, an Evangelical Free Church in the westernsuburbs of Chicago. His gifts include leadership, teaching, administration and evangelism.

Jason met Laura on a different missions trip toSouth Africa. Her family is from Michigan. Shehas a degree in Biblical Counseling and is a help-mate to him, especially in dealing with the femalesin their ministry. They were married four years

ago, and have a son Landon, born in 2009, and adaughter Charlotte, who was just born the firstweek in May. Family seems pretty important toboth Jason and Laura. They have felt called to anew ministry for a time, and are in the process ofselling their home so that they are freer to movewhen a call is extended to them.

Jason has been on several domestic missions tripsand besides the ones I've mentioned, he’s been toLiberia to train youth and youth pastors. When heand Laura visited Walloon last month while shewas still great with child, the two of them made therounds of the various groups whose lives theywould touch. We also had some fellowship timethat even included a golf course. You can tell a lotabout a man there! (Just ask a golfer!) Theyexplored the area and felt very comfortable withus. There appear to be no "red flags" and the Lordseems to be leading both sides in the same direc-tion, so the next step is to try and introducehim/them to all of you and see if you feel as if heshould be our next youth pastor here at Walloon. Please try and take advantage of as many opportu-nities to get to know them as much as you canwhile they are here. Events will be Friday the 27ththrough Sunday the 29th! On Friday, a "Meet theCandidate" time with pizza will be at 6:30 in room101 (old kitchen); on Saturday there will be a bonfire in the back yard of the church beginning at6:30 for parents and students; on Sunday they willhave some testimony time during both congrega-tional services, followed by time with each of ourthree youth groups. At 12:15, there will beQuestion & Answer time with the membership inthe sanctuary.

Sunday night Jason and Laura will meet with cur-rent youth leaders. Please don't miss a chance toget to know Jason and Laura! Thanks for lettingme serve.
