Welcome to the AFLAC Pended Business on the Internet (PBI) Quick Reference Guide.
This guide shows how the new and improved features in PBI can be used to help you work more
efficiently and effectively. After reading this guide you will be able to use PBI to access
information about all New Business Applications that are in a pending status that fall under the
user’s specific writing number or hierarchy. You’ll be able to better track new business
applications as well as create better communications between the field force, the customer and the
New Business Specialist. You will be able to request images and send faxes from your desktop,
work in a real-time mode, as well as connect to the PBI system from a remote location.
We hope you find the information in this guide helpful and will keep it handy for future reference.

business applications, the associate must be located within the PBI View Pended Business
AppSearch screen. By default the AppSearch button is highlighted, it is here that the NBS and/or
Field Associate will select Pended Applications to search for a specific pended application or
resolved applications to view all Pended Applications that have been resolved or issued.
2. The PBI Access Page:

4. Requesting PBI Images:
2. If your image request was successful, a pop-up box will appear stating: “Request

Please allow a 24 hour turnaround time to process image requests.
1.) In order to view the application image, you must first make sure you have Adobe Reader
installed on your computer, if you do not have Adobe Reader, you can install it for free by going
to Aflac Associate Services web page or by clicking on the “Get Adobe Reader” icon located at
the bottom of the page.
2.) Once installation of Adobe Reader is complete, click on the policy number of the application

request. You will receive an Image Request failed attempt pop-up after each failure.
4.) To retrieve your image request, click on the “View Requested Application Image” link located
at the top of the PBI main “View By” menu
5. PBI View Requested Application Images:
5.) This will redirect you to the “Pended Image Report for Writing #” table where you are able
to either:
a.) Click on an application number to retrieve that application
b.) Click on a column header to sort the information within the table in either ascending
or descending order.
The PBI Associate Change Transaction allows the associates to correct some of their own
business through the PBI AppsDetail screen based on certain pend reasons. Applications that
pend for invalid Situation code, pre/after tax, and new or existing employee status qualify to be
corrected through the PBI Change Transaction. One or a combination of the specified pend
reasons qualify the pended application for the Change Transaction. If the application pends for
another reason in addition to the specified pend reasons the application will not qualify for the
Change Transaction since the application would still pend after corrections based on the other
pend reason that cannot be changed through the Change Transaction. If the application qualifies
for the Change Transaction a Change Transaction link (Click here to correct application) will
be available on the PBI AppsDetail screen below the current link to request an image.
6. PBI Corrections and Change Requests:
Once the associate clicks on the link to make corrections a Change Transaction popup will be
displayed to allow the associate to correct the application. Once the Change Transaction is
submitted through PBI the application/policy will be ran through the New Business (NB21)
system with the applied corrections. If the application runs through the New Business process
cleanly without any errors the policy will appear on the PBI resolved application list as an issued
policy. If the application pends again the application/policy will appear back on PBI pended
application list where a New Business specialist will again need to work the application. A
pended application will be worked by a New Business specialist to assign new pend reasons for
the application.
