The United States has issued a formal warning
to China after personnel at the Chinese military base in Djibouti used lasers to interfere with U.S. military aircraft, giving two pilots minor injuries, according to the Pentagon.
Top Defense Department spokeswoman Dana White told reporters Thursday that the U.S. is confident the Chinese are behind the “very serious incidents,” which have increased in the past few weeks.

U.S. President Donald Trump has all but decided to withdraw
from the 2015 Iran nuclear accord by May 12, two White House officials and a source familiar with the administration’s internal debate said yesterday.
There is a chance Trump might choose to keep the United States in the international pact under which Iran agreed to curb its nuclear programme in return for sanctions relief, in part because of “alliance maintenance” with France and to save face for French President Emmanuel Macron, who met Trump last week and urged him to stay in, the source said.
A decision by Trump to end U.S. sanctions relief would all but sink the agreement and could trigger a backlash by Iran, which could resume its nuclear arms programme or “punish” U.S. allies
in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon, diplomats said.
Technically, Trump must decide by May 12 whether to renew “waivers” suspending some of the U.S. sanctions on Iran.
A White House officials said it was possible Trump will end up with a decision that “is not a full pullout”
but was unable to describe what that might look like. A presentation by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday about what he said was documentary evidence of Tehran’s past nuclear arms programme could give Trump a fresh argument to withdraw.

Chairman of the Jaffari Endowments Council,
Shaikh Mohsen Al-Asfoor, received yesterday a delegation from the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence, led by Board of Trustees’ Deputy Chairperson, Betsy B Mathieson.
Deputy Chairman of the Jaffari Endowments Council, Dr Abdul Hussain Al-Dairi,
and Acting Director of the Jaffari Endowments, Ali Mirza Khamis, were also present.
Shaikh Al-Asfoor welcomed the delegation and lauded the lofty goals of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence. He affirmed that the Jaffari Endowments Directorate supports the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence, and shares with its officials the goals of disseminating
peace and moderation and reflecting the image of peaceful co-existence and tolerance which Bahrain has been known for throughout ages as a land of love and peace that embraces all its components.
The goals were stressed in the “Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration” which embodies the philosophy and visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who represents a role model to be emulated in
this regard, he said. The centre’s Board of
Trustees Deputy Chairperson, Betsy B Mathieson, expressed Shaikh Mohsen Al-Asfoor’s initiatives in support of the activities and events of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence, noting that Al-Asfoor was the first religious figure the centre’s delegation has met.
She added that Shaikh Al-Asfoor has played a key role in consolidating the kingdom’s image as a land of co-existence and peace, noting that the Jaffari Endowments participated actively in the events organised by “This Is Bahrain” in various capitals.

The Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the
Supreme Council of Health, has distributed 4,000 health cards to individuals enrolled in the ‘Select Your Family Physician’ scheme within the A’Ali Health Center catchment area.
The scheme is a significant milestone in the implementation of the National Health Plan (2016 – 2025), which aims to further enhance the quality of health services in the Kingdom.
Assistant Undersecretary of Primary Healthcare, Dr. Manal Al Alawi, commended the efforts of all those working towards the implementation of the National Health Plan.
Al Alawi highlighted that the scheme, which covers chronic and acute diseases, emergency room visits and preventive care, allows doctors to regularly monitor patients and their families to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
He added that, while patients are free to select their preferred medical practitioner, with the option of switching on an annual basis, the initiative will equally distribute patients across all available doctors, allowing for more effective, targeted care.
The programme, currently in its pilot stage, will be implemented across all health centres operating under the Ministry of Health upon its completion.

Trump to dump Iran N-dealFrom Page 1
Iran has denied ever seeking nuclear weapons and accuses
its arch-foe Israel of stirring up world suspicions against it.
The pact between Iran and six major powers - Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States - was among former U.S. President Barack Obama’s signature foreign policies but has been described by Trump as “one of the worst deals I have ever witnessed.”
The White House official said Trump was “most of the way there toward pulling out of the deal but he hasn’t made the decision” and that he “seems poised to do it but until a decision is made by this president it is not final.”
Top aides are not seeking aggressively to talk Trump out of withdrawal because he seems intent on it, a second White House official said.
EU losing hopeTrump gave Britain, France and Germany a May 12 deadline to fix what he views as the deal’s flaws - its failure to address Iran’s ballistic missile program, the terms by which inspectors visit suspect Iranian sites, and “sunset” clauses under which some of its terms expire - or he will reimpose U.S. sanctions.
While European officials continue to work toward such a “fix,” they believe the odds are against reaching one.
One of the main sticking points has to do with the “sunsets,” where the United States in effect wishes to find a way to extend some of the limits on Iran’s nuclear program beyond their expiration dates under the agreement.
The source familiar with the debate said U.S. negotiators are hamstrung by the fact that they do not really know where Trump’s “red line” is and so
they cannot tell the Europeans what would secure Trump’s blessing. Trump could refuse to renew the waivers but give new U.S. Secretary of State
Mike Pompeo time to negotiate more with the Europeans, exploiting the deal’s dispute resolution mechanism.

No end in sight to woes of Bahraini ship crew
Mohammed Zafran/[email protected]
The plight of the crew of the Bahraini ship stranded
in Omani waters is continuing with no end in sight to their woes as the shipping company is involved in a financial dispute.
The three members of the crew are staying in the ship at an anchorage without fuel and electricity after being abandoned by their employers. DT News reported on April 22 the plight of the abandoned crew of the Bahraini cargo company who are living at the mercy of Omani authorities.
Bahrain International Seafarers Society Chairman Ali Al Ghawas said that despite the society’s best efforts, no progress has been made because the company does not have the financial resources to settle the dispute.
“The company appears to have no money to pay them or their agent who also have a dispute with them. Apart from the financial crisis, the ship does not have sufficient crew
to set sail and the company is not able to get replacements,” he said.
“Bahraini authorities have limitations in what they can do because this is a financial dispute the company is involved in. I spoke to the captain and the chief engineer and I have told them this case is going to take longer to settle because of the nature of the case,” he said.
“I am surprised that they do not have fuel and electricity in their ship. I thought the Omani authorities would provide it. They should be provided with fuel and electricity as it is done in such cases in Bahrain. We should ensure that they have electricity until they leave,” he said.
The seafarers, originally a group of 18, were employed by a Bahraini shipping company for the past 18 months for shipping cargo in the Middle East region.
15 of the crew returned home after receiving part of their salary while 3 remained at the ship insisting on full payment of salaries. The crew
who remain in the ship include a Jordanian, Syrian and a Myanmar national.
Thu Ya Aung, a crew member from Myanmar who works as the second engineer in the ship said that the situation has not improved. “The situation remains the same, it’s difficult. Without fuel or electricity, it is not even possible to cook. We are in the ship at the anchorage 24/7 for the past many months, never able to go on land,” he said. Mohammed Arrachedi, who is the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF)’s Arab World Network Coordinator said that he is hopeful of a deal to get fuel to the ship. “There are some talks going on to deliver fuel, we are waiting to see the outcome,” he said.
“The crew have been without light since 6 weeks now. How do they go to the market while they are at the anchorage? This is indefensible, the company should be made to pay and send these men home,” he said.
When contacted by DT News previously, the owner of the company denied all allegations.

Yemeni army claims 100 Iranian experts are in Saada to assist Houthis
Iranian experts back Houthis in Saada, says Yemeni ArmyYemeni army claims to have
spotted more than 100 Iranian experts in Saada, who are providing logistical and technical support to the Houthi militias.
The report by Al Arabia also claims that the army have found an arsenal of medium and heavy weapons, such as ballistic missiles deployed in the city of Saada and inside its caves in the past few days.
Citing military sources, the report says that the militias have recently begun sending
large numbers of experts to Saada, the birthplace of the leader of the coup d’état, Abdelmalek Houthi.
The city is also the main station for storing the weapons seized from the army depots during the coup in order to stop the advance of the national army towards the city, which is now surrounded from five main directions.
The information, according to the report, was gathered through intelligence operations and the statements made by more than 10 Houthi militia
leaders who were captured by the army. The information is significant and accurate about the presence of these experts in the city and the missions they carry out by laying mines, providing training in heavy equipment and firing missiles indiscriminately and intensively.
Asharq al-Awsat newspaper reported that Brigadier Abdo Majali said that 10 of the prominent field commanders of the militias fell into the hands of the army, dealing a severe blow to the Houthis,
in addition to those who were killed by the strikes of the coalition forces to support the legitimacy.
He added that the army monitored the presence of about 100 Iranian experts providing various forms of support for the Houthis in Saada, such as manufacturing and firing missiles.
He also said that the army is imposing a siege on the militias, which led hundreds of fighters to flee from their positions towards villages near Saada. (Agencies)

Beijing ‘installs missiles’ on S. China Sea islandsBeijing
Beijing yesterday reasserted its right to build “defence”
facilities in the disputed South China Sea, but declined to confirm reports it had installed new missiles on artificial islands it has built in the region.
The Chinese army installed anti-ship and air-to-air defences on outposts also claimed by Vietnam and the Philippines over the last 30 days, US network CNBC reported Wednesday, citing sources close to US intelligence.
If the information is verified, it could provoke renewed tensions between countries bordering the strategically vital maritime region.
At a regular briefing on Thursday, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying neither confirmed nor denied the deployment.
“China’s peaceful construction in the Spratly archipelago, including the
deployment of necessary national defence facilities, is aimed at protecting China’s sovereignty and security,” she said.
“Those who don’t intend to violate (this sovereignty) have no reason to worry,” she said.
The South China Sea issue has been brewing for years, with China, the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam making competing claims in waters with vital global shipping routes and what are believed to be significant oil and natural gas deposits.
In addition to land-reclamation efforts on reefs it controls and building civilian facilities there, China also has air bases, radar and communications systems, naval facilities and defensive weaponry in place including landing strips able to accommodate military planes.
The new Chinese missiles were reportedly deployed on
Fiery Cross Reef, Subi Reef and Mischief Reef, according to CNBC.
They are all in the Spratly archipelago located in waters south of mainland China between Vietnam and the Philippines.
Beijing’s territorial claims, based on its own historical records, have also pitted it against the United States.
While Washington takes no position on the sovereignty claims, it has raised concerns that Beijing is “militarising” the South China Sea.
But the US Navy itself frequently sends warships and aircraft carriers to patrol the area.
China’s defence ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment but has previously stressed that the islands were “part of Chinese territory” and that it was up to China alone to decide what it does there. (AFP)

It’s possible you could meet someone today who will act as a kind of Pygmalion for you. You need to be surrounded and encouraged by people who believe in you, and it’s good for you have people around to support you. If you do meet this kind of person, don’t be a showoff. Listen to what he or she has to say to you. It’s for your own good.
You are particularly inspired by and sensitive to crisis situations. What that means is that you can’t stand to see other people suffer. Sometimes even you suffer because you don’t allow yourself to do the things you like best and the things that help you feel fulfilled as a person. Why don’t you think about going easier on yourself, just for today? Try it.
Days like today push you to act in the areas of your life where you may have hesitated before. Does your love life need a breath of fresh air? Have you been dreaming of a nice candlelit dinner with your partner? A weekend in the country? A new home? It’s time to stop dreaming of happiness and do what you need to do to get it.
You might have questions about the satisfaction you feel about your personal life. It’s possible you have more demands than ever. Things seem so urgent to you now. Why not take advantage of this attitude to talk about your deepest desires with your partner? Things will be much clearer. You may just need to express some of your negative emotions.
Today is excellent for just letting your intuition guide you. If you have time, you might want to let your mind go and follow the train of thought wherever it takes you. You could find something out about yourself of which you unaware, something just waiting to be noticed. Remember, your desires are fantasies before they become realties, so dream a little.
Today is the kind of day when all you want to do is think about a vacation. You’re usually such a responsible, conscientious worker that you can afford to escape for just a few minutes. You could visit the world inside of you. You may even find something that’s been on your mind for quite some time that requires some action by you now.
You are an excellent friend, and you take pride in helping the people around you. Have you ever thought about getting involved in a humanitarian cause or giving a few hours of your time every week to your local community? Today, these kinds of ideas could become a real part of your life. It’s time to use all of your great ideas to help others.
Your natural compassion may have led you to choose a profession in which healing or helping other people is your primary duty. Even if this isn’t the case, the people around you may seem particularly demanding today. But be careful not to go beyond your personal limits or else you could be the one who needs other people’s help!
The planets want to make a deal with you today. Either you stay in bed fantasizing about life as a CEO or rock star or you get up, get dressed, and do what you have to do to make your dreams come true. Try and convince yourself once and for all that you don’t have to lose your childlike wonder when you enter the real world. That never goes away, no matter how old you get!
You have a rather strange day in front of you. The celestial atmosphere could be playing tricks on you. You might get aggravated for no reason at all, that is, unless it’s because you’ve been meeting too many people who don’t appreciate the original way you go about doing things. You may feel as if you live in a world full of dinosaurs. Don’t give up yet!
You might be upset by certain financial matters today. Either you realize just how much you’ve been spending lately or you see that things will be tight in the months ahead. It’s possible you invested a good deal of money in something that could have waited, and now you can’t invest in something much more important. These are hard lessons to learn, but everyone learns them some time.Just for today, ignore your habit of always trying to find an explanation for everything. Something is changing inside you and in the way you react to situations. The desire to incorporate life’s more unpredictable aspects into your personality is the basis for these changes. A lot of your theories are only there to reassure you, but you probably know that.

of Syria, killing both pilots, according to Russia’s Defence Ministry, which said the plane did not come under fire and that the crash may have been caused by a bird getting sucked into one of the engines.
State news agency Tass cited the ministry as saying the Su-30 crashed shortly after takeoff from the Russian air base at Hemeimeem in Syria. Russia has been waging an air campaign in support of President Bashar Assad’s forces since 2015.
In March, a Russian military cargo plane crashed as it was descending to land at Hemeimeem, killing all 39 people onboard. The military
blamed the crash on a technical error and insisted the plane was not shot down.
Russia leases the Hemeimeem military base in Syria, near the Mediterranean coast.
Elsewhere in Syria, a worker with the International Rescue
Committee and another individual were killed in a car bomb attack outside an IRC centre used to help displaced Syrians in the northwestern town of Dana, in rebel-held Idlib, the international organization said. (AP)

A naked statue of Donald Trump, complete with
a distended belly and jowly sneer, is to go on display at a Haunted Museum after a paranormal investigator bought it at auction.
Julien’s Auctions announced Wednesday it sold the artwork -- believed to be the last of the controversial statues not vandalized or destroyed -- for $28,000 (23,000 euros) at its biannual auction in Los Angeles.
The infamous statue by a West Coast anarchist collective is one of a series depicting the 45th president
in the nude, but without testicles.
In August 2016 -- during Trump’s then improbable bid for the White House -- the statues appeared in public spaces in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle and Cleveland, garnering international attention.
The four other naked Trumps -- titled “The Emperor Has No Balls” were confiscated or destroyed. In one cheeky response, New York officials pointed to regulations banning “any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small.” (AFP)

Kangaroos are one of Australia’s biggest
tourist draws, but visitors to one park are getting more than they bargained for.
Tourists in Lake Macquarie, a two-hour train ride from Sydney, are ignoring warnings and feeding carrots to kangaroos who become aggressive at the sight of their favourite sugary snack, a tour operator said.
Each week thousands of people flock to see the kangaroos on grassy slopes, enticed by travel blogs promising “adorable wild kangaroos” that are “tame enough to get close to and take photos with”.
Carrots in hand, the tourists approach the kangaroos, seeking a selfie with an Australian symbol that graces the country’s coat of arms. (Reuters)

Twenty-seven people died and four injured when
the bus they were travelling in turned turtle and caught fire in India’s eastern state of Bihar yesterday, reported leading English daily The Times of India.
According to the online edition of “The Times of India”, the bus was on its route from Muzaffarpur to New Delhi. It turned turtle and caught fire on National High No. 28 near Belwa village under Kotwa police
station area of Motihari district of Bihar.
The report quoted state’s Disaster Management Minister Dinesh Chandra Yadav as confirming 27 deaths in the bus mishap.
Xinhua tried in vain to contact the concerned senior district officials as they were said to be on the spot overseeing the relief and rescue work. Though one of the officials, on the condition of anonymity, said that those dead were charred beyond recognition. (Xinhua)

Syrian rebels began pulling out of an enclave they have
surrendered in south Damascus yesterday, but a few fighters in another besieged area near Homs shelled government areas after their groups agreed to quit.
The enclaves in south Damascus and near Homs are the only two besieged areas still held by rebels, though they still control large tracts of northwest and southwest Syria, lying along its international borders, which are not surrounded by the army.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has focused on dislodging rebels from their remaining besieged pockets since driving them from eastern Ghouta last month after a fierce offensive.
Syrian state television showed footage of buses arriving at Beit Sahm, driving through narrow streets surrounded by soldiers and with concrete buildings above showing scars of war.
It later reported that the first batch of buses had departed, carrying fighters and their families from the area.
Some 5,000 fighters and their family members are expected to leave Beit Sahm, Babila and Yalda neighbourhoods for the opposition areas in northern Syria, it reported, following an earlier group which left the enclave on Monday.
Islamic State fighters holding another part of the same enclave are still fighting after weeks of intense bombardment in the area of al-Hajar al-Aswad and Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp.
On Wednesday, insurgents in the biggest of the remaining besieged areas, located between the cities of Hama and Homs around the towns of Rastan, Talbiseh and Houla, also agreed to surrender.
However, a small number of them rejected the deal and shelled government areas late on Wednesday and early yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor and two local sources said. (Reuters)

At least 125 killed as storms batter India
New Delhi
Lightning strikes and powerful dust storms across
India have killed at least 125 people and injured more than 250 as meteorologists warned yesterday of more wild weather on the horizon.
Dust clouds plunged swathes of north India into darkness as winds of more than 130 kilometres per hour (80 miles per hour) brought down feeble mud houses and killed people where they slept.
Walls, trees and electricity pylons were torn down in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab states where officials said the death toll was expected to rise.
The destructive winds were followed by fierce lightning storms and rains.
Similar storms kill hundreds of people each year in India but these were some of the most severe in recent decades.
Shivam Lohia, who owns a resort hotel in Alwar district of Rajasthan, said he abandoned his car on the road and ran for his life after it was almost blown away.
“I haven’t seen such a devastating storm in at least
25 years. Everyone was scared and running for cover as trees and homes were getting blown away. It was a nightmare,” Lohia told AFP.
More storms to come There were 65 confirmed
deaths in Uttar Pradesh in the north, 35 in the desert state of Rajasthan to the west, and two in Punjab from Wednesday’s wild storms.
The day before, at least 14 were killed in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh which was hammered by more than 41,000 lightning strikes in a matter of hours, disaster officials said yesterday.
Agra district of Uttar Pradesh was one of the worst hit by the dust clouds, with more than 40 people killed. The Taj Mahal is in Agra city but officials said the monument escaped damage.
Last month, a similar storm killed at least 15 people in Uttar Pradesh and destroyed two minarets over an entry house to the Taj Mahal.
Most of the victims were killed as they slept by houses that collapsed or by falling walls, trees and electric pylons,
officials said. Many people in India sleep outside during the summer months to escape the high temperatures.
Rescuers were still going through the rubble of felled homes yesterday.
“We can confirm at least 65 deaths from around 40 of the state’s 75 districts,” T.P. Gupta of the Uttar Pradesh relief commissioner’s office told AFP. He called the death toll “unprecedented” from such a storm in the past 20 years.
Gupta said there were 43 deaths in Agra district. More than 150 cattle and other animals were also killed across the state.
“There is a forecast for more storms in the next 48 hours across the state so people should be alert,” he added.
Hemant Gera, head of Rajasthan’s Disaster Management and Relief Department, said emergency services were on alert and that people should not sleep outdoors.
In Punjab, Kumar Amit, deputy commissioner of Patiala district, told AFP that a wall collapsed killing two people. (AFP)

Rome
Liverpool set up a repeat of their 1981 meeting against
Real Madrid despite a first Champions League defeat of the season at the Stadio Olimpico.
A chaotic 4-2 semifinal second leg loss to Roma saw Liverpool progress 7-6 on aggregate, with victory secured thanks to Sadio Mane’s 19th of the season and the rare sight of Georginio Wijnaldum’s first away goal in almost three years.
A fortuitous own goal by James Milner in between had put the hosts back in the
game, while Edin Dzeko’s strike shortly after half-time ensured the Reds endured a testing conclusion and two late goals for Radja Nainggolan -- including a penalty with the last kick of the game -- came too late for Roma.
But Liverpool move on from defeating the same opponents against whom they won their fourth European Cup -- in this very stadium in 1984 -- to facing the club they beat 37 years ago for their third.
Given the way they have taken teams apart in this competition a sixth triumph
in Kiev is a realistic possibility, although whether their defending can cope against reigning champions who have won three of the last four titles is open to question.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are smashing all kinds of records this season and another one fell as they reached 46 goals in 14 Champions League matches (including qualifiers), eclipsing the previous best set by Barcelona (in 16 games) in 1999-2000.
A great deal of that is owed to their formidable front three of Mohamed Salah (10), Roberto
Firmino (10) and Sadio Mane (nine), now the highest-scoring club trio in a single Champions League season after overtaking Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, who scored 28 in 2013-14.
They are the fastest to 40 (12 matches) in a single campaign in the competition proper.
It was Mane’s turn to star on the night Liverpool booked their first Champions League final place in 11 years and their eighth in the competition. (PA Sport)

Jose Mourinho has acknowledged that Marouane Fellaini holds the balance of power in his Manchester United contract
negotiations, but believes the midfielder wants to stay.Fellaini’s contract at Old Trafford expires in June, and he has
so far refused to agree an extension despite offers from the club. The Belgium international, 30, gave an interview earlier this
week in which he criticised United for not offering him a new deal last season.
Fellaini came off the bench to score United’s winner in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal last weekend, and has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe, as well as a move to China.
“I’m still positive. He’s important. He’s a player that I like,” said Mourinho. “But he has a different position in relation to other players with contracts. We can control other players’ destiny but in Marouane’s case, the destiny is in his hands.
“He knows I want him to stay, the club wants him to stay, he has an offer from us and it’s up to him to say yes or no.
“I am still positive, as he likes to be here, he likes the feeling of the manager trusting him and I think there is a good chance for him to stay. But if he leaves, so be it.”
Mourinho takes his team to Brighton in the Premier League on Friday knowing that a victory would all but secure second place, their best finish for five years. (AFP)

In the absence of Vincenzo Nibali, Fabio Aru carries
Italian hopes at this Giro d’Italia and, a few weeks shy of his 28th birthday, he knows only too well that his career cannot be indefinitely couched in the future tense. Italy expects.
“Absolutely, I think that too,” Aru said in Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon. “But in the last few years, I’ve never
felt young anyway, because I’ve been riding with a certain level of responsibility. Since 2014, practically, I’ve felt that responsibility, that stress. But I’ve prepared very well for this Giro. I had a big desire to come back to the Giro and now I want to get started.”
Aru missed last year’s Giro, which set out from his home region of Sardinia, after sustaining a knee injury in a
training crash, but he resumed racing in June to claim the Italian title and then place 5th overall at the Tour de France.
On making the switch from Astana to UAE Team Emirates in the off-season, he was initially coy about his 2018 schedule, but it always seemed likely that he would return to the Giro for the first time since he placed second overall three years ago. (Cyclingnews)

managed to achieve first place in the speed round of Al Ain International Showjumping Championship, which was held in the UAE, amid large participation of various athletes.
Mansoor stole the spotlight during the round, presenting high standards of performance astride his horse, due to his concentration and clear technical reading of the course, which contributed to achieving his deserved title.
The second place in the race
also went to the Kingdom of Bahrain, through athlete Ahmed Jahrami, who competed with his colleague Mansoor for the title, also presenting technical levels which confirm the development of showjumping sport in Bahrain.
Meanwhile, the experienced athlete Khalid Hilal Al-Khateri had a share of advanced positions in the international championship, managing to win second place in the Grand Prize category.
Al-Khateri managed to strongly compete for the title after demonstrating ideal levels during the round, reaching second place.

Former Manchester United and England defender
Rio Ferdinand says he is “disappointed” after being refused a professional boxing licence.
The 39-year-old, who retired from football in 2015, launched his new career in September.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) said they would not be reviewing his application, Ferdinand said.
“It is with a heavy heart that I am hanging up my gloves,” he said.
In his statement, published on Facebook, Ferdinand added: “To not be given the chance to demonstrate my ability to the BBBofC through the standard assessment afforded to others is
hard to take.”Ferdinand’s move into the
ring was being backed by betting company Betfair, as part of the ‘Defender to Contender’ challenge.
Coached by former WBC super-middleweight champion Richie Woodhall, the six-time Premier League champion aimed “to win a belt”.
“Boxing is a physically tough, demanding and dangerous sport. I always gave it my utmost respect and never underestimated how difficult it would be,” he said.
“It’s important to approach everything with success in mind, and to give it your all, but sometimes things work against you.” (BBC)

Serena withdraws from Madrid Open
Madrid
Former world number one Serena Williams has
withdrawn from the Madrid Open as she continues to regain full fitness ahead of the French Open later this month, the tournament’s organisers said yesterday.
The 36-year-old, who won the Madrid Open in 2012 and 2013, returned to the
WTA tour in March after giving birth to her first child last September.
Williams, a 23-times grand slam singles champion, was ousted by her sister Venus in her comeback tournament at Indian Wells and last played in her first round defeat by Japan’s Naomi Osaka at the Miami Open.
“We regret the absence
of Serena and we wish her a speedy recovery,” tournament director Manolo Santana said in a statement on the Madrid Open website.
“She is one of the great champions of our sport, she has always offered a show to the tournament and we hope to see her again at the Caja Magica in the future.”
Poland’s Agnieszka
Radwanska has also withdrawn from the Madrid Open, which runs from May 7-13, due to a back injury.
Williams missed the first grand slam of the year at the Australian Open in January and could also be ruled out of the French Open, which is held from May 21 to June 10.

In-form Stefanos Tsitsipas beats Anderson in EstorilEstoril
Greek rising star Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his
excellent form on clay by beating Estoril Open top seed Kevin Anderson 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 6-3 yesterday to reach the quarter-finals.
The 19-year-old held the
big-hitting South African to just four aces in a second-round match which lasted for more than two hours in windy conditions.
World number 44 Tsitsipas beat three top-20 players, including Dominic Thiem, en route to the Barcelona Open
final last week, where he lost to Rafael Nadal.
Anderson, ranked eighth, sealed his fate as his first double-fault of the contest brought up two match points, with Tsitsipas quickly wrapping up victory at the first attempt.
“It was really tough, with
tricky conditions,” world number eight Anderson said. “I’ve not played a match in a while.
“It’s a little disappointing, I would have preferred better conditions for my first match back, a more comfortable environment.
“But he was just too good today.”
Tsitsipas, the first Greek man to break into the world’s top 50, improved to 13-10 for the season.
He will face a last-eight match against Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena, who knocked
out British number three Cameron Norrie 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (7/1).
The 103rd-ranked Norrie went down in three hours, eight minutes to his Spanish opponent who won his first ATP title this season in Quito.
