The easiest and safest method is outlined in the following guide. It is crucial when uploading firmware on any Leica equipment that the batteries contain at least 75% charge, and the battery & cable connections are not disturbed during the upgrade process. Please also note that the GS and CS must be running the same firmware versions to communicate in SmartWorx Viva. Step Sceeen Menu Instructions Visual Upgrading firmware on the GS15 and CS15 Download the firmware from Leica MyWorld • Go to the MyWorld website @ https://myworld.leicageosystems.com, login with your username and password, or register as a customer of a Local distribution Partner, and using your equipment number from a purchased Leica product. • Next, go to the MyProducts link (on the left hand side), select CS15 Field controller, then click on the software tab (see image the right), then scroll down to the 'Offline Software Update' section, download the 'SmartWorx Viva Cs10/15 Firmware' into the SYSTEM directory of a SD card inserted into the computer. The same process needs to be completed for the GS15 GNSS sensor; select the GS15 from the products list, then download the 'SmartWorx Viva GS10/15 Firmware' in the SYSTEM folder of the SD card as well. Upload the GS15 sensor firmware. Place the SD card inside the GS15 sensor, it slides in above battery 1. Connect the GS15 sensor to the CS15 controller using the Lemo to USB cable included in the Leica instrument case. Also ensure that both the CS15 and GS15 have at least 75% battery remaining (IMPORTANT). Exit SmartWorx from the main menu by pressing FN then F6, you should now see the Windows CE home screen. Select the icon: 'webserver cable' which will open the GS15 sensor interface. Select 'USER', then 'Load firmware', check the tickbox 'firmware is on SD card in GS15' and then press 'load firmware' (can be difficult to click). The firmware update should take around 5 minutes, during which connections and power should not be interrupted. The GS15 will restart when the firmware has been updated. Upload the CS15 controller firmware. Remove the SD card from the GS15 and place into the CS15 controller. Close the web interface, and then from the windows screen, open 'SmartWorx Viva (the blue icon). Once SmartWorx has loaded, select USER > 'Tools & Utilities' > 'Load Firmware, apps'. The firmware version should appear beside the Version number, then press OK/F1, enter through the warnings, and then the firmware install will begin and take around 5 minutes to complete. Do not interrupt the power supply during this process. The controller will restart when the update is complete, you should be able to continue working as per usual. 1. 2. 3.
