While Bentley does not offer scholarships based solely on IB scores, academic scholarships are available to both international and domestic applicants based on secondary/high school academic achievement and test scores.

Beginning with the class of 2011, Boston College's IB policy is that we will grant advanced placement only for Higher level exam scores of 6 or 7 only. We do not grant credit or exemptions for any Standard level exams. Please refer to our web site for details on which exams place students out of which requirements in Boston Colleges Core curiculum. Students who score a 6 or 7 on three HL exams and a B or better on TOK may apply for advanced standing at the end of their first year at BC. Students who are accepted for advanced standing must graduate in 3 years.

The College of William and Mary accepts test scores on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate examinations for credit from incoming students. Typically, a score of 5 on an AP exam or a score of 5, 6, or 7 on a Higher Level IB exam will earn a student credit, a score of 4 on an AP exam will often earn a student an exemption. CLICK HERE for a list of AP and IB courses and credit awarded for each.

Yale awards as many as two acceleration credits (the equivalent of two Yale courses) in certain subjects to students who have received either a 6 or 7 on the higher level examinations. These credits can be applied if the student wishes to graduate early, and the decision to accelerate is made during sophomore year. No acceleration credits are awarded for standard level examinations. Students who score a 6 or 7 on higher level examinations may also use these scores to place into more advanced courses in some disciplines.

AND TO THE NORTH…

McGill: The IB Diploma is considered a credential for admission. Grades of 5 or higher are expected in each subject. Credit is granted for higher level courses. The amount of credit which can be granted varies depending upon the particular subjects examined and the faculty or program which the student wishes to enter. An appropriate selection of three higher level subjects can allow for admission to the second year of a four year program in some faculties and schools. Students who do not complete the full Diploma but who achieve a grade of 5 or better in one or more higher level certificates can receive some credit, depending on the faculty/program the student is entering. Final IB results from the IBO must be received for all admitted students.

Concordia: IB Diploma candidates who achieve passes in six subjects with three at the higher level and who obtain a minimum total of 27 points may be considered for admission to the three-year (90 credits) programmes of study (four years of study in Engineering, Early Childhood and Elementary Education, TESL, or BFA  Specialization in Art Education). Students who have not completed the full IB Diploma programme but have IB Certificates in individual Higher Level subjects may be eligible for credit.
