in the Slovenian Tax Administration and Slovenian Ministry of Finance. After the completion of
studies at the University of Dundee I am looking forward to broadening my knowledge even further
in the field of International Taxation and UK domestic taxation. With a great passion for learning new
things, especially in the field of tax law, and work ethics and dedication I am looking forward to any

WORK EXPERIENCE
01/08/2015 – present - self-employed
After I moved to Scotland with my family, I continued with the editorial work on a Newsletter
for the Association of International Tax Consultants (AITC) based in Switzerland.
19/04/2014–1/05/2015 – Freelance in Bayreuth (Germany)
Contractual work:
- editor of Newsletter for Association of International Tax Consultants (AITC); editing and
writing articles on Tax issues for AITC Tax Flash (see http://aitc-pro.com/en/).
- consultant on IP right for the Uplu d.o.o., entertainment company from Slovenia;
preparation of contracts for transfer of IP rights, preparing the Terms of Services, preparing
the application for TM registration at OHIM and WIPO.
01/01/2012–18/04/2014 – Undersecretary at Ministry of Finance, Ljubljana (Slovenia)
Department for System of taxation of individual persons;
- Preparation of systemic solutions, legislation proposals and other acts regarding taxation of
individuals;
- Preparation of legal and expert opinions regarding taxation of individuals;
- Required expert knowledge of Individual taxation, Corporate Taxation, Taxation of property,
Social Security System of Slovenia, Tax Administrative Procedure, Civil (obligations and labour
law) and specifically Property Law.
The experience at the Ministry of finance was precious because it provided insight into the
drafting of legislation procedure. The work involved dealing with the experts of the highest
stature and politicians. The work duties often required me to defend the legislation proposals
of the Ministry against the contrary arguments, which was an exciting, creative and of course
stressful work.
18/10/2004–31/12/2011 - Senior Advisor in Tax Administration of Slovenia, Special Tax
Office, Ljubljana (Slovenia)
Connected with this: president of the board of owners of the building on Gospodinjska ulica,
Ljubljana; member of the group for introduction of Horizontal monitoring in Slovenia; until
2009 content head of the working group for reorganization of the official Tax Administration
Internal Internet (Intranet).
- Preparation of expert legal opinions, legal tax and penalty decisions, opinions regarding
drafts of taxation acts, close cooperation with tax inspectors with legal and procedural
support.
Working at the Special Tax office gave me access to Slovenia´s best Tax Inspectors, which
were a delight to work with. Connecting the knowledge of the tax procedure and material tax
legislation with the financial knowledge of the tax inspectors was the main function of a legal
advisor at the Special Tax office. Next to this I had the opportunity to work with the advisors
of all the Tax Payers (biggest companies in Slovenia). Many advisors came from the largest
Tax Advisory firms in Slovenia. Connecting the views of tax inspectors and tax advisors and
dealing with the conflicts between those views was one of the most interesting aspects of
the legal work at the Tax Office.
INTERESTS
Family
I am a father of two 5 year old kids. The time I spend with them is priceless to me and I try to
experience as much as I can with them until they decide I am too old and too boring.
Writing
I have a passion for writing. Since I left Slovenia with my family, I have been writing a diary of the
things we encounter and experience in the form of an internet blog. Next to this I have begun to
write a book of the legal perspective of EU migrants – basically writing about all the obstacles an EU
migrant faces in the common EU market that is supposed to be without borders and obstacles.
Sports
Karate is my constant companion since my childhood. Currently I am a member of Dempsey Karate
Club in Dundee and I plan to do Karate until I have enough strength in my legs and breath in my
chest.
SKILLS
Communication Skills
I have communication skills in English acquired through schooling (English terminology Class, English
Legal Articles that were the source of the master´s degree thesis) and professional interactions –
international and Fiscalis workshops and working visits (in Bruges (2012), Bregenz (2013),
Netherlands (2010) Estonia (2008), CEF International Workshops (e.g. Auditing MNE`s (2008) or
Introduction to Taxation and Tax Reform (2012) and also living abroad since May 2014 (Germany,
from May 2015 in Scotland). Also I have successfully passed the IELTS exams in Edinburgh with an
overall band score of 8.5 (CEFR level C2). My native language is Slovenian. I also know Croatian and
Serbian and have a passive knowledge of German language.
I work very well in a group as a leader, equal or as a subordinate. However, if the work requires it I
am also capable of solving problems on my own. Despite this I strongly believe that an efficient and
well-coordinated working group can do amazing things.
Organisational / managerial skills
I have been assigned to leading teams of over 10 people (Reorganisation of Intranet of the Tax
Administration of Slovenia), heading working meetings (as president building community
Gospodinjska ulica), and educating (internal education for purposes of Penalty Law Exam, internal
education on the usage of SAP – eDIS).
Computer skills
Advanced MS Office, Open/Libre Office, owner of a Wordpress website from 2014, SAP e-DIS
software solution, MailChimp, GIMP2. Ability to quickly learn and use new software in OS Windows
and Android.
