Board Contact Information
I pledge to uphold the objects of Circle K International. To
foster compassion and goodwill towards others through
service and leadership, to develop my abilities and the
abilities of all people, and to dedicate myself to the
realization of mankind’s potential. FIST PUMP.
A special thanks to the UCD CKI Board, for being so
helpful in the process of making this newsletter. I want to
thank you all board members and general members for
putting up with me and supporting in the making of each
and every newsletter I have created this year. You are all
the best. I could of not have done it without your support
and time to help me make this the best newsletter I could
possible make. As I submit my newsletters into DCON
and only hope for the best, I know that no matter what I
will not regret what I have done this year and all the
bonds I have made with the rest of the club as a result of
being on board. Also, thanks to all that allowed me to go
through their Facebook albums and download all the
pictures I used here. Sorry about that invasion of
privacy….
To all who are reading:
If you have any comments, questions or concerns do not
hesitate to contact me personally, Facebook ,phone or email.
If you are interested in contributing and be a part of the
newsletter you are also welcomed to contact me at anytime.
Love Your CKI Newsletter-er,
Sachi R. Prim

Fall full / half Marathon. An awake-a-thon full of giggles and jokes with friendly community-service
spirit spread all around.
What happens at such an event? Essentially,
multiple people came together to all chair
the event at once, in particular Andrew Tom
and Ami Salvador, who did excellent jobs
with organizing everything. Anyway, scissors.
Scissors are your friend. This event is not a
do-able event without scissors. Whether
you're cutting throw-blankets, bookmarks,
monster book marks, letters to santa,
dresses, vocabulary words, bingo laminated
sheets, or even Ami's favourite (felt), you will
find scissors to be helpful. If you do not have
a fond appreciation for little kiddy scissors as
Nancy does (yo don't question dis qurl's
weird style x]), then bring your own adult
pair of scissors! We all thank the members
for their work at this event, but it all really
boils down to that one, sharp tool!
For more information contact Andrew Tom
Whether it be the hot cocoa burnt tongues,
layers of bags under eyes, hands covered in hot
glue reminiscent, or even a general, "YAHOOOO!
I DID IT!!!" feeling, everyone who attended the
Fall Marathon walked home with something they
did not have before. No, that does not imply this
event will make you a worse person, it implies you
will have small battle scars from valiant efforts of
staying up the whole time.

So is this glass half empty
or half full?
Overall, the event is very unique of its kind. If you
did not participate in it this year, find out when the
next service marathon is and finish all of your
homework due that next week in advanced. Clear
up a time slot. The event is worth it. It creates
memories. It strengthens bonds. It shows Facebook
your 9AM beauty pictures after you have not slept
for more than 24 hours. But most of all, it is service.

Runners! Get your tennis-shoes on!
Great!
Put on your sweats and white shirt!
Excellent!
Now dress up your booty with feathers as if you
were a turkey!
Wait, what?
\\
Johnny and I, Michael Mears (teehee it's me!!)
volunteered in the refreshments department, where we
would stand near the finish line and kindly hand water
to well-deserved runners. The continuity felt endless! Lift-
weight two packs of 24 bottles to the finish line and
repeat as you serve runners their well deserved drink! If
you can not handle pressure or constant work with little
breaks, this event may not fit your fancy! Of course,
after the massive clump of racers finish, business slows
down and you can take this time to take some free stuff
from the tents stationed around the field of 6th / B Civic
Field Street. Enjoy a free power bar or two along with
some energy drinks and free water bottles for all of your
hard work! You deserve it! Gobble Gobble x]
You heard correctly! Davis' annual Turkey
Trot event hosts many marathons, including 5k, 10k,
half marathon, kids run, and even a half marathon
relay! The catch is participants are encouraged to
dress up as turkeys while they run! There are even
medals at the end for best dressed runner as well
as fastest runners of each run!
The atmosphere is awesome, with freezing
cold weather at seven in the morning. Make sure
to wear gloves and layers you can take off later
on!

Gobbling Down the Streets Davis
E-Board: the Elected Board
This board is chosen by the members of that particular Circle K
club, in this case Davis, no other club members such as people
from a UCD fraternity or even from a CKI club at a different
school, such as Sac State can vote for running candidates to be
elected. These members are allowed to be at the meetings
where we do have elections, and are also allowed to ask
questions, (however, UCD’s members get priority) as long as
they do not try to vote for any of the candidates.
The way our club does elections is that we break them up.
Meaning one day will be the elections for the president and the
vice president; another meeting will be for sedentary and the
treasurer, etc. Another thing that is particularly unique for our
club is that we will allow candidates who do not win a certain
position the last election to run for a lower ranking position.
Difference between Boards
A-board stands for Appointed board. This
board is chosen by the elected board of
Circle K. This group includes but is not
limited to scrapbook, Member
development and education (MD&E),
Member recognition, fundraising, service,
and more! These board members help
support the elected board in making
sure the club runs efficiently and
smoothly, working on tasks either
assigned to them by E-board or by from
their own creations or interests. A board
has a little bit more freedom per say in
what they do as a board member for
Circle K, however, this does not mean
that they are free to do whatever they
want. Each A-board has a list of
responsibilities and duties that they must
complete throughout the year.

UC Davis Circle K recently charted a new Kiwanis Kids Service Leadership Program at a local
elementary school. This program helps to teach elementary school students from grades 3-6
the values of service and leadership. We meet bi-weekly and usually have a simply service
project such as hosting a canned food drive, or writing letter to Santa to help Macy’s Believe
campaign that donates money to the Make-a-Wish foundation. Some weeks we do more
education such as teaching the kids about one of our Circle K District Fundraising Initiatives.
Circle K volunteers help to develop their own leadership and teaching skills as we work with
these kids striving to educate and inspire the future leaders of our community.
K-Kids Pledge:
As a K-Kid,
I promise to serve my
neighborhood and my school;
I will show respect toward my
environment;
And I will try to make the world
a better place in which to live.
Winter Break What did you do over winter break?
Over break I went home, hung out with friends,
did community service, CKI socials, and went to
GO West! Go West! Was the most memorable
and I was also able to celebrate my birthday at
Duy’s!! It was a lot of fun!
-J.J R.
Over break I went home, hung out with friends, and
went to the Modesto DCM. Winter break was SUPER
AWESOME!
-Michael Mears
Over winter break I went home, hung out with friends,
community service, and went to CKI socials. Break was
beastly because of go West and Snocial!! It was super chill
to go down to Southern California and hang out with
Circle K peeps all over the district! And we were chilling
hard with SacState by going exploring around LA
together! And then after a 6 hours drive up to Davis and
another 2 hour drive to Truckee, it was SNOCIAL. All the
BBQs and the board games and the movies,
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
- Anon
Over break I visited family, went home,
hung out with friends, stayed in Davis, and
did community service. I really enjoyed
winter break because I got to hang out
with my family and all my best friends from
high school. The worst part of winter break
was not getting to celebrate New Year’s
because I was sick. ;c But it was okay
because I took a selfie anyways.

“Spring” forward What do you look forward to the most/ least this quarter?
For spring breakkkkk, I’ll most
likely go home and hang out
with the fambam. My mom
always gets these oranges that
taste DELICIOUS. I literally eat
them like candy!
-Anon
I like it when Sachi Prim touches my
eyebrows and my non-existent facial hair!
She da best!
-Anon
Shoutout to my
homeboy Rihanna Tom
and Andre Tom for
being the coolest most
hip, most ship-worthy
people in CKI!
-Anon
I applied to be a Resident Advisor and I really hope to get
the position! I can already see myself crafting out signs for
each door, and arranging special socials and everything!
I love to help others out with their problems and socialize
in between!
-Michael Mears
I’m really not looking
forward to finals, especially
since two of mine are on
the weekend of DCON SO
DA SADZ.
-Tyler Bowman
Member of the Month: Ryan Lai
Always there to lend a helping hand, Ryan Lai has been an active member since
the beginning. Although he never lets me touch his eyebrows, or let Anne use his
shower, we still accept him into the club anyways! Always there at Coho hours to
help save a table or even a booth with an outlet, lend a helping hand at
numerous service events and his approachable personality made him an easy
candidate to be this month’s UC Davis’ MOM! WAY TO GO RYAN! WHOOT!
Member of the Season: Amy Quan
Following in her family footsteps Amy has always found time to help out UCD’s
Circle K in any way possible. Always at work parties and co-co-co chair of our
sweethearts dance, UCD Circle K would not be able to run as smoothly without
dedicated members like Amy to lend a hand. Willing to go beyond and above
her responsibilities as a general member (and look cute while doing it) Amy Quan
was a shoe in to be winter’s member of the season! Keep doing you girl! You are
the best!
